Wisconsin Recall: Yes It's A Vanity...But An Important One
1/21/12 | Me

Posted on 01/21/2012 12:21:23 PM PST by NoGrayZone

I signed up a while ago to help verify the signatures on the recall petition against Scott Walker of WI. I just received an email asking me to download a program so that I may help.

Problem is, I'm afraid to download ANYTHING. I put nothing against these b@st@rds to scr&w us, so I am hesitant about downloading the program.

I tried to contact the office and of course no one was available to speak to, so I left a message. I am eager to help Gov. Walker out, which is the reason for this vanity post of mine.

Has anyone else volunteered for this? Any problems?

ALL help and advice would be appreciated. I am off the rest of today and tomorrow so I'd like to get a jump start.

Do you have anti-virus software? If you do, just download it. It’s ridiculous to live in fear like this.

DON”T TOUCH IT!!!! If you don’t know the source of the e-mail leave it alone. You may be opening a virus. Continue to try and contact the office you spoke of and be aware, those union goons are capable of anything. You shouldn’t have used your own personal e-mail account. You’re doing a good thing but protect your privacy and use a ‘’G-Mail’’ account. Google ‘’G-Mail account’’ and it will explain how to open one. But always, with any e-mail account, if you don’t recognize or know the sender , LEAVE IT ALONE!!!

I got an email from them today and they made no mention of downloading any new program.

About two weeks ago they sent one to test their software, but nothing new since then.

In fact, part of today’s email read:
“Our testing of Verify The Recall’s software (built by True The Vote) has been a great success! Note that it is no longer necessary to test the software system, and that the system itself will be cut off from volunteer access on Sunday, January 22nd, 2012 to prepare for the gubernatorial recall verification process.”

The email contact I have for them is: Verify@wigol.org

I’d hold off until you talked with them, probably Monday. It can wait.

Yes, I do have anti-virus software....and have downloaded viruses before.

Which is why I am hesitant. Anti-virus software is NOT 100%. But thanks for your concern.

I haven’t heard of anything like that. I would be cautious too because the libs are desperate. I would call the local GOP office or Gov. Walker’s office to check on it.

I’m working with 2 different groups to Verify the Recall, and I’ve not been asked to download anything. The group that is working with computers asks you go to a website and login with a special identifier number to work. We send our work in when we are done.

The other group is going to have us hand review copies of petitions for irregularities. No downloads.

Go to VerifytheRecall.com or VerifytheRecall.org for more information. We can’t do anything yet because the GAB hasn’t finished scanning the petitions.

I think your notice is a scam.

I must do all I can possibly do, as a little “pee-on”.

Look at the hidden header information.
Is it the same as other legitimate emails from the campaign?
Then it’s probably legit. Though you should wait for verification.

If it’s not, save the header info. It’ll be needed for prosecution.

It’s not a virus and this is a legit group. Unfortunately, they cannot do anything about any fraud they find, the can only expose it as they did with the same day voter registration errors they found in Milwaukee. Only the Walker people can do it.

The GAB has screwed us though. They promised us copies of the petitions tomorrow but now said they need more time so we won’t get them until later next week. We had over 1000 people in Waukesha County trained scheduled to help verify and had to cancel everyone. It’s a mess.

From the Wisconsin GOP:

The Republican Party of Wisconsin and the Friends of Scott Walker Campaign are the only groups that are legally allowed to challenge the recall petitions. We are in no way affiliated with the third party groups operating Verify the Recall. Our program relies on an in office hand review program supported by trained field staff. We are focused on ensuring all the data that gets into our challenge system is clean and double checked for accuracy. Our in office approach ensures the integrity of our database. While Verify the Recall has the full right and ability to process and review the petitions our challenge database will be sole source utilized to form our formal legal challenge made to the Government Accountability Board in defense of Governor Walker. Legally, we are not allowed to collaborate with, accept information from, or process any data from the groups involved with Verify the Recall.
For additional information please contact the Republican Party of Wisconsin at: 608-257-4765 or victory@wisgop.org

Do you use a name-brand AV software? McAfee and Norton do a good job of not only intercepting viruses, but they scan as programs execute.

Nothing in this life is 100%, but if you aren’t willing to take some 1 in 1000 (or even 1 in 10,000) risk to stop the leftists from destroying the election system in your state, then why even worry about it? They’ve already won. This is the equivalent of being afraid of going into any public building because of 9/11.

I’ve checked their webcam a couple of times in the last few days. In every job I have ever held I didn’t dare move that slowly. And what’s with the constant handing of papers to each other? It is so fake.

They are intentionally delaying us by pretending to look like they’re actually doing something!

I am angry. We had people scheduled to verify, now we have to reschedule everyone.

I use Norton.

My fear? I had a nasty virus which I could not get rid of and had to restart my computer from day 1, that’s why.

“This is the equivalent of being afraid of going into any public building because of 9/11.”

I will NEVER forget that day. Even though I am on Long Island, all that smoke, smell, soot and body ashes came along our way.

I’ve been to Ground Zero many a time. Imanutjob was supposed to walk on such sacred ground, but I was there...willing to give my life to prevent that emmer effer from stepping 10 feet of it.

He never came. The sissy knew what was waiting for him, as did all of NY, including the NYPD. I honestly don’t believe they would have stopped us.

That’s good! That sounds like the email I got from them about 3 weeks ago. Did they want you to do the test?

They are cutting off the test this weekend. It’s just to get you used to how the petitions look and the fields you have to enter.

Total BS!!! Darn, wish I lived there, would have raised holy heck.

The one thing that has my hopes up is that Walker is not phased by it.

Mickey Mouse can sign all he wants, but it’s the votes that count.

However, I remember seeing a video of a man handing out butts to young girls for their signature. That STILL burns me!

Unfortunately, they cannot do anything about any fraud they find, the can only expose it as they did with the same day voter registration errors they found in Milwaukee. Only the Walker people can do it.

Are you working with Verify the Recall? They can survey and sort the petitons. I am so sick of the victory centers and the RPW saying that they are the only ones who can challenge. According to the VTR attorneys, that is just not true. This seems like a spiteful turf arguments.

"Go Time" is Coming!

We have fielded dozens of questions over the last couple days now that the petitions are turned in and the proverbial clock's started ticking. The biggest questions we get relates to filing complaints with the GAB and when can we get started working on the petitions. We know everyone is anxious to get started.

When we debuted Verify The Recall on December 4th, our team of attorneys had already done their research into the Wisconsin Statutes and gave this project a green light to proceed. In the end, we fully expect to work directly with the GAB and that is our intent.

From the outset, we have maintained that Verify The Recall will uncover the facts as independent, non-partisan, "concerned citizens." The information we uncover will be well documented and our results will be shared with the public in great detail.

The GAB cannot ignore facts presented to them, regardless of who discovers/presents the facts. Facts are the truth, and the truth doesn't change. Verify The Recall CAN and WILL present facts to the GAB. The GAB will take our information into account.

Verify The Recall is empowered by True The Vote. With over 9,600 volunteers to enter data from the petitions into True The Vote's custom database, Verify The Recall expects to uncover more facts than the GAB, The Democrat Party of Wisconsin, or the Republican Party of Wisconsin. In addition to checking for duplicate names, fake names, and improper paperwork, Verify The Recall is the only organization who has announced its intention to fact-check recall petitions for:

Deceased persons
Felons
Underage signers
Non-existent addresses
Non-logical addresses (such as industrial warehouses)

Verify The Recall is the only organization that has announced its intention to make our database publicly accessible and searchable.

Additionally, nearly 50,000 Wisconsinites have added their name to our No Sign Registration List. Verify The Recall is the only organization to allow Wisconsinites to preregister as a recall petition non-signer, and is the only organization that seeks to empower the individual to challenge his/her own signature on a recall petition.

Verify The Recall serves as the conduit for people put their political activist energy to good use, and uses the energy to uncover FACTS. Based on the hundreds of positive emails and phone calls this week, we can tell the people of Wisconsin are anxious to get started.

Verify the Recall is ready for action. We hope you are too, because it won't be long now!

Thank you for volunteering. Without your help, this huge endeavor would not be possible!

Sincerely,
The Verify The Recall Team

I asked you if you were working for VerifytheRecall, not the Victory Center. I already know you are working for a Victory Center. So am I.

But, Verify the Recall is doing something different and very important. I think both organizations are doing important work.

When I say “turf war” I mean that VTR is not telling volunteers to abandon the Walker folks at the Victory Centers. But, the Victory Centers are telling people to not work for VTR. That just does not make sense, and I think that it is unfair. It seems that the Victory Centers are not telling the whole truth, either. Did you see the copy of the letter that VTR sent to all of us up-thread? Please re-read it and tell me what you think.
