Juan Williams Skewers Chicago Teachers Union in New Film

“A Tale of Two Missions” – a film by Juan Williams and Kyle Olson (and directed by Chicago-based Andrew Marcus) – tells the story of competing cultures in American education through examples from Chicago.

While the fight for school choice rages across the nation, perhaps no better example exists than that of the Windy City. Traditional alliances are breaking down. Both political parties are pushing for education reform and expanded school choice. The status quo is under attack, because most reasonable people understand that thousands of Chicago students are trapped in failing schools.

But the education establishment, led by the radical Chicago Teachers Union, is not willing to give an inch to allow better choices for underserved students. And the union still has enough money, influence and legal standing to make reform efforts difficult to implement.

The film features the Noble Street College Prep charter school and the amazing results its teachers and leaders are delivering for students and parents of Chicago. It also exposes the entrenched educational establishment bent on stifling school choice options and preserving its monopoly on state education dollars.

Being released during National School Choice Week, the film runs approximately 35 minutes and is geared towards generating discussion about the role of our schools and what obstacles can be overcome when school culture is focused on student success rather than adult demands.

*snip*

An internet-only abridged version can be seen here at youtube.com.

Juan’s voice cuts through the daily back-and-forth and issues a searing indictment of a system that is largely focused on the needs of adults.

It is our hope that this will provide the public with an unvarnished analysis of the state of our schools, as well as a glimpse into what could be, if the teachers unions would drop their consistent opposition to reform.

I wonder if anyone will have the balls to ask “the black community” if they are embarrased that the first black president turned out to be such and idiot

Maybe competance should have been on their list of necessary qulaifications and not just ‘black’

Pretty soon Juan will be called an “Uncle Tom” or an “Oreo” by the Chicago Black power structure.

I always have to laugh about good ol’ Juan. He has these moments of clarity that override his naturally dense liberal mind to come up with the right conclusion. Here on the issue of school choice, which bucks Liberal orthodoxy, and also on the Global Warming issue. After a speech by Czech President Vaclav Klaus, on the fraud of the whole Global Warming movement, he remarked that he had never looked at the issue that way and saw his point. It was a true revelation to him that this could be a scam.

no way will it happen.

The other day my oldest went to DC with the school and just before they got on the bus all parents had to go and listen to how it all works on the trip etc.

The school stated that they have been given permission to go in the white house and right there a group of black parents started cheering and clapping and then shouted obama obama obama.

Now granted at my kids school there are only a few blacks but it was interesting to see how they all sat with each other and how they reacted once the white house was mentioned.

The black community for the most part will vote for him because he is not white and when the MSM gives us the crap of “we are now past race relations” well I guess they forgot how the black community for the most part only came out to vote for the first time in their millions and how they will vote for him again but have no clue what so ever that they are worse off today.

Of course the GOP won’t point that out either due to their cowardly ways

Rahm Emanuel and the Chicago Teachers Union are at odds. Looks like Juan has been recruited to work for the Godfather.

Here's the Unions take on it: CHICAGO MAYOR AND FORMER WHITE HOUSE CHIEF OF STAFF RAHM EMANUEL CAUGHT RED-HANDED BY STATE OFFICIALS

That’s a good video. My only complaint is that it took them almost seven minutes before they got to any substance.

"Rahm Emanuel and the Chicago Teachers Union are at odds.

Brings to mind the Iran-Iraq War of the 80's - I hope a way can be found where they BOTH lose!

Boy, Rahm certainly has changed since moving back to Chicago. He would have never used rent-a-mobs and paid hecklers when he was in the White House! /sarc

If Newt or Mitt had suggested this, Juan would be calling them racists.

A little background on the CPS teachers’ union, while at a trade show in Springfield the union was holding a workshop at the hotel as well. Basically the union is run by overweight white women who boss everyone around in their passive/aggressive way. My guess is that Rahm sweetens the deal with the “black leaders” and divides the coalition and runs roughshod over them. Conservatives hobble themselves with the left’s PC, Rahm knows the score.

Great video. This is one of the reasons conservatives in Chicago like Rahm. He’s actually taking on several unions. This has to come from a Democrat otherwise they would consider it a hate crime.

I would like to commend Juan Williams for the job he did on that video. The Chicago Public Schools were not willing to go face to face with him concerning the issue.

Now concerning Juan on Fox News, sometimes I think he has to play a certain role in defending the Democratic party line to be fair and balanced on the show. I think he is really starting to change his mind and looks at things from a different perspective after leaving the communist NPR.

No--he plays the role of "the liberal" to be "fair and balanced".

I--and not a few other Freepers--felt the question he gave Newt during the SC debate was deliberately pitched "low and inside" NOT to hurt Gingrich--but to allow him to "hit it out of the park."

In fact, one poster on the thread for the debate mentioned that Juan and Newt are friends. Don't know about this--but I do know Juan Williams is deeply disgusted at those "race pimps" who blame all the "woes of the Black Community" on the actions of "Mr. Whitey", instead of on those in that community that either perpetuate its misery (i.e. gangs) or use that misery as a means to propel themselves into very powerful--and profitable--positions (i.e. Jesse Jackson, Al Sharpton, etc., etc.)!

ANOTHER REASON TO HOMESCHOOL

This ping list is for the “other” articles of interest to homeschoolers about education and public school. This can occasionally be a fairly high volume list. Articles pinged to the Another Reason to Homeschool List will be given the keyword of ARTH. (If I remember. If I forget, please feel free to add it yourself)

The main Homeschool Ping List handles the homeschool-specific articles. I hold both the Homeschool Ping List and the Another Reason to Homeschool Ping list. Please freepmail me to let me know if you would like to be added to or removed from either list, or both.

So the man who helped get the man behind the attacks on parents choice around the nation, is now demanding the Unions cave to him.

So why doesn’t he call up the governor of Ohio and Wisconsin and tell him that he supports them. This piece of dung has got to be getting something out of it, and I think I have figured it out.

Mark my words, if Rahm Emanuel is successful in forcing the Unions to cave, and the education improves in Chicago, get ready to see him run for president against the incumbent Republican in 2016.

He knows that Obama is finished. So he has four years to try and fix Chicago, so he can win the Democrat nomination, and run for president.
