I think the Santorum supporters can at least take comfort in knowing that if Santorunm happened to be polling better than Newt right now, Santorum would be the official candidate of FR, and the Gingrich folks would be getting zotted.

Yes, sir.

IMO, the most damning thing of all is that one and a half billion for emergency funds for veterans’ healthcare.

I mean how could he!!! {/s}

S 1317, so I guess we could look it up, but it’s in a brochure that is about 70% liberal and it says “breakthrough stem cell research....diabetes, Alzheimers, other diseases..”

Environmental solutions agency

If Newt replaces the EPA with the ESA, it's fine by me.

I want manufacturing coming back, but I refuse to destroy my environment the way China has. There's a huge gulf between the mess of inhibiting regulators we have now, and doing absolutely nothing.

I have my qualms about Newt, but frankly, this (IF it's replacement) is one of his better ideas.

Your guy isn’t accepted because he’s conservative, he’s just the only guy left to stop Romney.

Personally I'm not so sure he can stop Romney. Seems to be an awful lot of hope placed in a man who has won exactly 1 primary and it was in a state where he should have never trailed in to begin with. New england and the west coast will most likely go to Romney as well as a few midwestern and southwestern states.

In fact, if Newt was the great white hope, why didn't he rocket to the top early on in Iowa and stay there. for that matter, Santorum is the only one who won on neutral ground and Romney spent years and millions of dollars there.

The actual breakthroughs consistently happen with adult cells, but I can see how liberals would deliberately mush the issues together until almost nobody is distinguishing them.

For the fetal cell champions I would challenge them, show us a cancer cure in rats or something like that. We hear about that all the time with respect to other medical treatment avenues, such as various drugs. Show that even in animals it would work better than adult cells will before shoving the ethical question in our faces. They put the cart before the horse.

Great white hope, great green hope, who cares?

He has the pointy spearhead. He has the ideas (even if not all good). He’s facing off against a widely detested disaster of a liberal who has maxed out his race card. The only thing that could trip Newt up is Newt himself. Perfect? Hell no. A good man at the right time? Heavens yes.

There are adult stem cells, you know. Show me in this file where it says fetal stem cells. That’s right, it doesn’t. Find me a bill regarding fetal stem cells that Santorum voted for. That’s right, there weren’t any.

That would never happen. Santorum is very dull and, therefore, would never be able to maintain any high level in the polls. There isn’t an alternate dimension somewhere where Santorum got the lucky poll surge and kept it up forever.

This is Newt’s nomination to win. Santorum’s presence can only hurt Newt and help Romney.

Calm down Mrs. Santorum, I never said it was fetal stem cells. I said it was SB 1317 and could be looked up. I also said it was in a list of absolutely very liberal “things about Rick Santorum” you don’t know. It was an election document from his 06 campaign aimed at liberals and moderates and “the things you don’t know” about Santorum was that he’s really kind of liberal after all.

That is CLEARLY the gist of the document. Not all the items in the list of 50 are liberal, but many are. More than half.

Santorum basically tied with Romney in Iowa. He won because Newt took some big hits from Glenn Beck, as well as a very negative campaign offensive by Romney at around the same time. Santorum was a desperation vote to beat Romney. The media pundits started pushing Santorum as a possible last minute underdog, and then the people followed the media. It came out of nowhere. It was not a legitimate victory, which is why he is now crashing back down in the polls.

Because he hadn't quite made his bones kicking liberal media ass. /s

“Bone Marrow and Cord Blood Therapy and Research Act of 2005”

No fetal cells involved.

I agree, the adult stem cells are where the progress has been. As for this bill that Santorum supported, I did a quick search and I cannot tell for sure if this includes fetal cells or not.

The fact is, he couches it in a way that it would appeal to liberals. And that bill did have a lot of liberal co sponsors, but some not so liberal co sponsors as well.

Over all, the “50 things” brochure is definitely aimed at moderates and liberals to get them to like Santorum. And that’s the key, since he campaigns so totally differently now AND - AND - claims he is the pure one.

I just found this. Fourth paragraph from the bottom:

In that race, against Democrat Bob Casey, Jr., the attacks were coming so fast and furious that Santorum decided to issue a pamphlet, titled “50 Things You May Not Know About Rick Santorum.”

I never said there were necessarily fetal cells involved. I said I did not know. I did say the brochure is an overtly moderate to liberal document over all and that is the case. I also put out the bill number so folks could look it up.

And as such, and trying to appeal to liberals, he couches that stem cell support in terms that would “allow” a good Pennsylvania moderate or liberal to think Santorum did support fetal research is that good moderate or liberal was so inclined to think so.

Oh, I thought he was sanctimonious and untalented and some what hypocritical, but I had no idea how absolutely shameless he has been in this campaign the way he talks about his loss in 06 as at least going down fighting for the right things. BULL. He went down in 06 as as moderate weenie.

On the idea that Newt is shameless, and I can understand that way of thinking, this is our choice, A shameless dude with incredible talent and ability or a shameless dude who is sort of bland and vanilla and a man of only pedestrian talents.

My computer runs screaming from the room at the word—ADOBE.

Why? Any computer that can't read a .pdf is worthless.
