There is something truly obscene about the full blown assault on Newt Gingrichs strong Reagan conservative history from and on behalf of Mitt Romney, who unabashedly ran away from the Reagan legacy and conservative principles in his 1994 Senate campaign and 2002 gubernatorial campaign. Truly obscene.
The latest iteration comes from Elliott Abrams writing in National Review, quoting pieces of a single speech Newt apparently gave on the floor of the House on March 21, 1986, in which Newt criticized certain foreign policy decisions of the Reagan administration. Abrams does not link to the full speech or to other speeches of Newt at the time.
Instead much of the anti-Newt conservative media including a screaming Drudge banner accuses Newt of insulting Reagan. It is part of a smear campaign which started when Newt surged in Iowa and National Review unloaded with its infamous Marvin the Maritan issue, and now it has resurfaced once again now that Romney is in electoral trouble.
A more honest assessment comes from Jeffrey Lord at The American Spectator. Lord, who was in a position to know because he witnessed first hand Newts interaction with Reagan, has written a critical column, Reagans Young Lieutenant, Much like Byron Yorks column debunking Romney attacks regarding Newts ethics charges, Lords column is a critical contribution to the truth in a sea of shameless lies.
Lord portrays Newt in a much more favorable light:

Matt Drudge is taking every opportunity to slam Newt and prop up the faltering Willard. I’m avoiding his site now.

Why am I thinking that Drudge is creating a fight between Romney and Gingrich to enhance traffic at his site?
If Gingrich knocks out Romney on Tuesday, the rest of the primaries are boring.
I am thinking Drudge has a profit motive here.
You may want to FB this one. :)
One thing Fur Shur, after Walsh's thuggish behavior and IGNANCE Republicans and Democrats agreed to get rid of the INDEPENENT COUNSEL Star Chamber procedure.
National Review on Lorazepam keeps dragging Abrams' little tales into prominance for lord only knows what reason. NRO is the sort of crowd that'd been in Walsh' pocket crying out "Send The Jew To Jail".
Thank you Mrs. Reagan!
Thanks for the link. I forwarded it to several people.
Man, what a video find.
That is a heck of a commercial sound bite.
If that was the case, wouldn’t he be posting anti-Romney and pro-Newt stuff as well? He’s not. I bet this vedeo of Nancy never makes it on the site, nor will the one of Romney saying he didn’t support Reagan.
Pure gold. This argument that Newt is not a Reagan Conservative is disingenuous revisionist history out of the RINO establishment wing of the Republican Party.
******Everyone with a Facebook account**********
post this video..... get it out there to counter the Romneybots...
(FR is still the best place to go to get the truth!)
Thanks but the video at the original link worked just fine, plus there is another video under the Nancy video that is worth seeing IMHO.
“Man, what a video find.

I have to agree. I sure hope Newt has the rights to use it. This will make Coulter, Beck, Drudge, Rove, Hewitt and all RINO’s head explode. GO NEWT GO!
Fags hate Newt, but can’t stop him.
And check out the other video of Romney directly under the Nancy video (in the original link.)
