Santorum up in Colorado, Nevada with anti-Gingrich commercial

Fresh on the heels of announcing January fundraising numbers in excess of $4 million, Rick Santorum's presidential campaign announced a new television ad that will begin airing Tuesday in Colorado and Nevada.

The ad attacks Newt Gingrich as being too liberal for the GOP nomination by arguing that he shares many policy positions with President Obama and House Minority Leader Nancy Pelosi (D-Calif.).

"All three supported radical cap and trade legislation that would destroy American jobs and drive up energy costs. All three supported giving illegal aliens some form of amnesty. All three sported the government health mandates which take away our freedom and is the core of ObamaCare. And all three of these politician's supported the Wall Street bailouts that was a slap in the face to the Tea Party," the narrator says.

It goes on to refer to the trio as "cap and trade loving, bailout supporting, soft on immigration, big-government mandating politicians."

The commercial is a sharp indictment of Gingrich, with whom Santorum has split more conservative voters in early primary contests. But the ad does little to attack Mitt Romney, the presumptive Republican front-runner who is expected to lead in Nevada polling.

"Rick Santorum for President: he doesn't just talk a good conservative game, he lives it," the narrator says.

Nevada will caucus Feb. 4, with Colorado voters gathering 3 days later at caucus sites across that state.

Rick has become part of the problem. Mr. Rogers with a mean streak.

That self-righteous piece of s#it.

I don’t know whom I can’t stand more. Mitt at least is openly a bastard with a purpose. Santorum is just blowing money and being one with no point.

Why doesn’t he attack Mitt?

It's not a conspiracy. Santorum is not vying for Romney's moderate/RINO voting block. Rick and Newt are fighting for the same set of voters, so naturally Santorum is going to spend more time attacking Gingrich. We've seen this all election cycle and for every primary cycle previous. That's just how campaigns work.

One would think a sainted man like Rick Santorum, whose daughter just had a “miraculous recovery” would have a character strong enough not to make a deal with the devil Mitt.

I swear, a pox on this republican party!

Apparently, Romney’s money can buynjust about everyone!

So after Romney loses next November will he finally go away or will he buy the nomination again in 2016?

Just as long as Sanctimonium washes his hands thoroughly, he will be able to keep the mantle of the holiier-than-thou...

Oh right !!??

Then Santorum is not running to win but running to defeat N.Gingrich ? Thanks for admiting it and making our point....

I know it’s hard to recognize the sad truth and one’s own failure

A slight variation on your comment: for all of Newt’s past indiscretions, I find Newt’s character and his embracing of the catholic faith much more credible then Santorum’s and his unchristian actions.

Holy carp, this is unbelievable. Until this moment I had believed Santorum to be a decent honorable man. I had assumed that, should Newt’s campaign come flying off the rails in some unexpected way, I could support Santorum if he was the only one standing against Romney. Not now. He’s not who I thought he was, and he’s not worthy.

Something tells me Santorum is gonna turn out to be a big time, hard core establishment RINO who doesn’t really believe in conservative principles.

Well, I guess Santorum has made his bed with Mittens. Gingrich now has to fight a war on two fronts.

It was bad enough that Mittens went 99% negative on Gingrich but I thought Santorum was a better man than Mittens.

Santorum is trying to skim off enough conservative votes from Gingrich to hand the nomination to Mittens. I had considered Santorum as plan “B” but now there is no plan “B”.

At this point it is NEWT or BUST.

Santorum just laying the ground work for Mittens, his true colors exposed.

Pathetic little sweater wearing dweeb.
My view of Santorum today.......Will probably get worse.

Santorum indorsed rapid PRO-ABORT Arlen Splincter over conservative Pat Toomey, now this fraud is saying someone else is liberal? How does a supposedly pro-life Catholic support a politician that believes it’s OK to murder unborn children. And I could care less what reason he gives. There can never be a reason to aid and abett in murder. The Catholic Church teaches that ALL ABORTION is wrong and you CAN NOT SUPPORT pro-abortion candidates.

Respectfully, Longbow, point me to 1 negative ad run by Newt against any conservative.

Santorum is a little weasel. He will never get enough votes for anything and to trash Newt means a vote for Romney. What a fool.

Shaking my head ... not knowing whether to laugh or cry.

Sandtorum’s being kept alive by Rush and Mark.

Pity. I’m starting to think both are useless since they’ve already said they’d vote for Mitt.

Rick doesn’t attack on personal issues, like Romney does, but be prepared - he WILL attack on ISSUES.
