Bullet train becoming ‘Moonbeam Express'
The Orange County Register ^ | 2-1-2012 | Orange County Register editorial boarad

Posted on 02/01/2012 11:20:58 AM PST by landsbaum

In a brazen denial of the obvious, Gov. Jerry Brown now insists the proposed California high-speed rail can be built for much less than its own business plan stipulates, and wants to use anti-global-warming carbon taxes to underwrite the proposal, whose price tag has nearly tripled in the three years since voters approved it.

The governor seems intent on demonstrating how California's state government has burdened taxpayers with mounting debt, while overspending to create consecutive years of budget deficits. . .

And here I thought it was an interesting, conservative editorial that brought fresh insights to an idiotic leftist boondoggle! Thanks for straightening me out.

As a California native I can say that California government is totally in the hands of a coalition antithetical to American interests. Further, it is and will be impossible to dislodge the coalition by ordinary political means.

The only interesting feature left to contemplate will be how the members of the coalition will be able to divide up American wealth among themselves. For example, Mexicans have total control of Los Angeles, Asians and Gays control the Bay area. Even the Negro members of the coalition are being marginalized. Will the coalition members actually come to real fighting?

Speaking of paying attention, notice this:

The OC Register has insisted on “Excerpt Only” status for its articles (not its blogs, but they do that too.)

Then, after insisting on Copyright restrictions on FreeRepublic, they have their lead editorial writer, open not one, but two FReeper accounts to pimp their stuff on this forum and benefit from the traffic that ~YOU~ as a loyal contributing FReeper pay for.

can’t think much of a state that allows 14 year olds to get free abortions on demand without parental consent but wants to treat sugar like a controlled substance.

Aren’t carbon taxes to be paid by entities that will pass on the expense to consumers? This seems like one more sort of hidden tax that all CA residents will have to pay.

It’ getting harder that harder to justify living in CA.

Understood. I went to the link, to the OC Register, which is not a blog, and did not take it past that.

Guess I was the one not paying attention!

Why do you care? It is a legit article from a legit source (last non communist paper in California). Who cares if the author posts it?

I don’t care if they post it, but that’s not what they did.

And I don’t feel like picking up 54 cookies (complete with trackers and beacons) to read it.

You mean because it is just an excerpt? They do it because they need to make money by serving ads, why is it a big deal? There are 139 sources now on the FR excerpt list, why is this one a bee in your bonnet? Don’t click it if you don’t like it.

"Don’t click it if you don’t like it"

Don't worry - I didn't.

And you don't have to keep responding to my opinions if you don't like them.

A high-speed train funded by cap-and-trade revenue is the liberals’ idea of a perpetual-motion machine.
