HAGERSTOWN, Md. (AP) — An Army officer ordered a court-martial Friday for a low-ranking intelligence analyst charged in the biggest leak of classified information in U.S. history.

Military District of Washington commander Maj. Gen. Michael Linnington referred all charges against Pfc. Bradley Manning to a general court-martial, the Army said in a statement.

The referral means Manning will stand trial for allegedly giving more than 700,000 secret U.S. documents and classified combat video to the anti-secrecy website WikiLeaks for publication.

Treason should require hanging!

The 24-year-old Crescent, Okla., native faces 22 counts, including aiding the enemy. He could be imprisoned for life if convicted of that charge.

Sadly, we just don't appear to be a serious country any more.

Now let him cuddle up with Pollard, and live the rest of his life in a comfortable Federal prison as a traitor to our nation.

Won't be much of a cuddle up. Pollard, like Robert Hanssen, has been in solitary confinement since the beginning of his incarceration. He's confined to his room 23 hours a day. Pollard's at the Butner Federal Correction Complex in North Carolina; Hanssen's at the Federal Bureau of Prisons Administrative Maximum facility in Florence, Colorado.

I understand that Hanssen's brain has effectively turned to mush as a result of the forced isolation.

Courts-martial is the correct plural form of court-martial.

Flash to Admiral Ace Lyons

“You know in the Navy in the late nineteen hundreds, homosexuality was rampant in the United States Navy. It was so bad that mothers would not let their sons enlist in the Navy until the Navy cleaned its act up ... On board ship the Navy found that there are three things unacceptable to good order and discipline and its impact on readiness. You cannot have a thief aboard, you cannot have a drug-user or a drug-pusher and we found out you could not have a homosexual.”

James “Ace” Lyons is a retired admiral in the United States Navy whose 36-year career was capped by serving as Commander, U.S. Pacific Fleet from 16 September 1985 to 30 September 1987

>>Treason should require hanging!

No. That would create a martyr, not a warning.

Let his be a Life sentence in Florence - with a live camera 24x7 in the Rainbow Quisling Traitor’s cell.

Let WikiLeaks publish THAT.

Bradley Manning, traitor.
The left can’t get enough of him either, so teh left idolizes traitors.
In this case, a traitor homo who did NOT belong anywhere near the uniform.
There were reports of him throwing temper tantrums.
Homosexuals are mentally and emotionally unstable as shown and proven by the left’s latest hero here.

He should face the listed penalty for treason, i.e. DEATH.

calling his prosecution "fundamentally unjust."

The UCMJ is a real bitch; but I'd bet my bottom dollar its nowhere near as "unjust" as to what some hardened soldiers who have done a couple tours overseas would like to dish out.
