SPARTANBURG, SC (FOX Carolina) -
Deputies said they were called to an Inman residence Tuesday night after a domestic dispute led to the wife shooting her husband in self-defense.
Spartanburg County deputies said they were called to the County Estates Road residence about 8:24 p.m. where they found Robert Fowler, 43, lying and screaming on the ground with a gunshot wound to the buttocks and his wife holding the gun.
Deputies said they determined that Fowler got into a fight with his son, pushing him and beating him in the face, and his wife tried to separate them before shooting him.
Investigators said she would not be charged because she shot Fowler in self-defense.

Had to check...yup, that’s the actual headline. Lucky he wasn’t shot in the fracas. From his mugshot I’d have to say if he opened his eyes any further, he’d bleed to death.
Journalist fail on the part of FOX, or on the part of LEO. The woman did not shoot in self defense, she shot in defense of others. Self defense and defense of others can be justified or not depending on the circumstances, but the two distinctions are different concepts and are not treated the same as a matter of law.
Not complete information, but considering no one else was charged, it appears the wife was justified and considerate for picking a (usually) less lethal target, although she may have shot him where he thinks.
Two friends are talking:
“Where is a women’s YET?”
“Never heard of it. What is it?”
“I don’t know, but I just read that a women was shot three weeks ago, and the bullet is her yet!”
He will come back and kill her later. She shot him AND “got” him arrested by doing so (in his mind.) My father always told me not to aim a gun unless I intend to shoot to kill. His teachings would have held this woman in good stead.

If the roles were reversed and the man shot the woman for beating a kid, he would be going to jail.

From the article: He [Fowler] was charged with criminal domestic violence first offense and second-degree assault and battery.
The story focused on how the situation started, with the son, but doesn’t exclude his threats against and possible violence on his wife. Too little (or too much) info.
Bummer.
I wonder if drugs were involved. Was he chemically impaired in some way? (The article doesn’t say.)

How old is the son? They say it was fight, but no mention of what sort of fight the son was putting up; nor why there was a fight; nor who started the hitting & shoving; nor even how much alcohol &/or drugs was involved.
I also what to see the woman the deputies decided was not guilty; from looking at his mug, I'm betting she's nearly as guilty as ...
