SPRINGFIELD, Ill. -Under a just passed law, Illinois SWAT units can now attach silencers to their weapons. The silencer is designed to give police special operations teams the advantage if they find themselves in a firefight .
The sponsor of the measure, state senator Dave Koehler says if police have to enter a room and fire their weapons the silencer allows them to concentrate on their target.
Hearing loss of up to 15 seconds can make a big difference between whether hostages are killed or not.

Nice looking equipment.
Not a lot different than what the Syrian Army is using in Homs.

I’m good with silencers. The last man standing cleans up the mess and claims nothing ever happened! ;^)

For their safety, put them in armored vehicles with turrets to help avoid hearing loss.

Short of it is you can get one but the tax on it is a few hundred dollars and is technically considered a weapon itself.

Before gangsters used them, in cities it was socially supported to not disturb your neighbor, if you were doing target practice. Many places encouraged using them.

I really woulda thought they’d wear the type of hearing protection that cuts out above a certan decibel level. Voices can be heard, as can gunshots, but damaging noise is eliminated.

Hearing loss of up to 15 seconds can make a big difference between whether hostages are killed or not. Why do they want to kill the hostages? Oh, that's right: It's Illinois....

Nuclear weapons, RPGs, shoulder fired AA missiles? Probably not, for either cops OR civilians. And now aerial drones.
And for you, you, too, can get in on the action. http://www.draganfly.com/
