Is Peruvian Mummy a Giant Toddler? by Brian Thomas, M.S. | Feb. 10, 2012

Some say that giant humans are too incredible to have been real and that the Bible's references to them are fiction.

However, many extra-biblical records corroborate the existence of giants, including sober accounts from early explorers like Magellan and ancient texts like the Babylonian Epic of Gilgamesh, the Hebrew Book of Enoch, and the Book of Giants.

Now, a mummy skeleton found in Peru looks like a giant toddler. If that is indeed what it is, then it adds more weight to the idea that giants were real.

Researchers found the mummy near Cuzco, Peru. It is currently housed at the Ritos Andinos Museum, which is located far southeast of Lima. A hole in the mummy's skull indicates that it had a fontanel, which is an area of connective tissue atop a baby's head that later fills in with bone. Like modern babies, the skull is larger than the rest of the body. But the strangest feature is that the skull is 20 inches long, which is larger than normal adult skulls.

Lima anthropologist Pablo Bayabar examined the mummy and told the Chinese news source New Tang Dynasty Television:

Children's heads are proportionally bigger than their bodies. Here we have two points. First, the fontanelle is open, which usually closes at 31 months. And it has molars that usually appears [sic] between approximately 13 and 19 months. So we are looking at a child under two years old with an enormous head.1

If the youngster had fully matured, he would have qualified as a giant. The skeleton has other unique features, including large eye sockets, a unique molar structure, and an unusual shelf on its chin. Ritos Andinos Museum Director Renato Davila said, "It's 20 inches tall, which doesn't coincide with the stereotypes of humans."1 Some anthropologists are reluctant to call it human.2

Evolution maintains that humans evolved from smaller, ape-like ancestors. But according to the Bible, humans were created in the image of God, and men since then have descended from Adam.3 The Bible also teaches that giants existed, further contrasting with the standard evolutionary stereotype of human history.

The book of Numbers says that a handful of Israelites under Moses' leadership reconnoitered the land of Canaan and reported their discoveries:

And they brought up an evil report of the land which they had searched unto the children of Israel, saying, The land, through which we have gone to search it, is a land that eateth up the inhabitants thereof; and all the people that we saw in it are men of a great stature. And there we saw the giants, the sons of Anak, which come of the giants: and we were in our own sight as grasshoppers, and so we were in their sight.4

Since the Bible refers to giants, it stands to reason that other historical records and artifacts would also testify to their existence.5 And a giant toddler mummy appears to be just such an artifact confirming that the history related in Scripture is trustworthy.

I have to put on the tin hat I use when I listen to Ron Paul talk foreign policy for this one.

Looks like the kind of cranial deformity created by different “primitive” (politically incorrect) cultures the world over from the Huns to Meso-Americans.

I didn’t.

They are real. Primitive people tie boards to the soft skulls of infants to deliberately deform them.

Some nutcase named von Deniken maintains they are from Outer Space.

Klinton has a “thing” for Peruvian mummies. I wonder how hot he thinks this one is?

The article upholds Scriptural truth.

It doesn’t deny that giants were real.

12 foot tall skeletons and spears discovered in Utah cave in 1938; archaeologist led there by Indians who said the Spanish also saw them in the cave. Skeletons taken by truck to Berkeley, CA, now hidden from view for 70 years in the basement of the Univ. of California Berkeley Anthopology Building.
cf Oakland Trib article 1980`s.

20 inches tall? Almost 2 years old?

A quick browse of the internet shows that the typical 2 year old is over 30 inches long.

Why is a 20 inch almost 2 year old a big deal?

Giants either did or didn't exist... and if you have any belief in the Bible you have to at least entertain the idea that giants were a part of the terrestrial landscape (of extraterrestrial origin, i.e. Sons of God cohabiting/fornicating with human women). Or you must believe that the use of the word giants in scripture has other theological meanings. There's more mystery to the notion than fact, to be sure. My belief system includes the notion that fallen angels are more than just spiritual minions throwing darts of lust, lies and lasciviousness at us. To scoff at all that's not plainly visible, may become problematic when all becomes plainly visible...

"And there shall be signs in the sun and in the moon and in the stars, and upon the earth distress of nations with perplexity; the sea and the waves roaring; men’s hearts failng them for looking after those things which are coming on the earth: for the powers of heaven shall be shaken. They see the Son of Man coming in a cloud with power and great glory. (St. Luke 21: 25-27)

I’m skeptical of 12 foot humans, simply because we know humans that reach 8 foot have tremendous problems with their backs.

I’m just not sure that the way we’re designed (especially our spines) could support another 4 feet in length), given that we can barely support 8 feet in length.

From the article "the skull is 20 inches long"

Not that I would know anything about large craniums...

I think they were talking about the head alone, however it is measured, perhaps from the chin to the top of the head...

Not uncommon for some groups to deform skulls by the application of boards or wraps. As far as what they're calling a fontanelle, it could also be evidence of trepanning, which was practiced with some regularity by the Incas. This is just more typical BS from creationists posing as scientists...

I read this Trib article myself in 1980`s and went to the UC Berkeley Anthroplogy Bldg. basement to which everyone is barred and confirmed with Assoc. Prof. that indeed there are 12 ft skeletons there.
Other ref`s to this are in anthroplogy journals of that time..

Megatherium - fairly common in caves in the southwest, and to the ignorant, mistakable for a giant...
