An Open Letter to Rick Santorum (Vanity)

An Open Letter to Rick Santorum:

Dear Senator:

As a strong, common-sense Conservative, I have a favor to ask of you. Could you please consider not answering, off the cuff, every question thrown at you? Would you please engage your brain before putting your mouth in gear? I’m beginning to see now, how, as an incumbent, you lost your Senate seat by 18 pecentage points to the brain-dead Bob Casey. Women vote Senator; and, they vote in large numbers. Now, please consider this common-sense observation from a Conservative male:

Women have been in combat for years now. Women have used birth control for decades now. Some of your comments are so unbelievably naive. When you said that contraception was “bad for America”, I thought: “Hey Rick, if we didn’t have contraception, we’d have millions more bastard kids to support through the Welfare system than we have now.” People are going to have sex, Rick. Just because you believe it is primarily for procreation, some of us like a little intimacy with our spouse once in awhile without having 19 kids, like the Duggar family that has endorsed you.

Sorry, Rick, but, sometimes, you embarrass some of us who want to support you. And the comment, re: birth control, made by your biggest donor, Foster Friess, was over the top. He reminds me of Clayton Williams, the GOP candidate for Governor, who had the election in the bag against Ma Richards, until he made his stupid comment about women and rape.

Please Rick, you and Foster need to slow down, think, and then speak. Maybe a little more elucidation, before publication?

I wish you well.

“Women vote Senator; and, they vote in large numbers.”
Which is why Gingrich could never win.”

I don’t understand why not. Why is that assumption even being made? Seems more like a reason just being thrown out there to encourage people to not vote for Gingrich.

Exactly right. Good grief, what a bunch of dunder heads are out there these days.

He said, “...you then take the aspirin and put it between your knees.” And those folks didn’t know it was a joke?

Whew!

Well, except that the liberal hypothesis you put forth is bullsh-t, and what I put forth is absolutely true. Ask ANY counselor, religious or secular, and get back to me if ANY of them EVER dispute my premise.

I'd vote for Gingrich. Yes, he's been a philanderer, but I'm not married to him, so that's not important to me. Before someone says that his adultery proves he's untrustworthy, I assume all politicians are untrustworthy in many ways. That's why it's important that they be entrusted with as little as possible. "That government is best, which governs least."

BTW, is this the original poster's ghastly composition?

“Women vote Senator; and, they vote in large numbers.” Which is why Gingrich could never win.”

*shudder*

You are not following my argument at all. You are confusing what I said about the contraception issue with what I said (generalizing, and tweaking, and it surely did tweak) folks on the issue of infidelity.

Until you can straighten those two VERY DIFFERENT issues in your mind, we have nothing to chat about.

Because of the Griswold v. Connecticut ruling, states don't have the authority to ban contraceptive sales. (I assume that Mr. Santorum knows this, and that his discussion addresses the legal issues.)

It's possible that some contraceptives could be taken off the market if the FDA decided their proven health risks took priority over the consequence-free sex agenda.

What's not to like?

His personality. His lack of humor. His liberal weenie campaign of 2006. His lying about his liberal weenie campaign of 06. His pro union stances. His big government stances. His very mediocre conservative record outside of social issues. His real good chance of totally off putting the electorate in the general. His idiotic thinking that social issues are the key to 2012. His votes to increase welfare spending. His nanny state vote forcing businesses to pay benefits to those they lay off. His Pet Animal Welfare Statute bill. His pretending to stay above the fray while running awful negative ads himself. His claiming that he has won "four states" when they were all teeny tiny caucuses. His open mouth insert foot on sex for procreation. His sweater vest.

Other than that, not much.

At least the consistency argument makes sense when it comes to contraception and life. If catholics are pro-life, believe life begins at conception, the anti birth control position is logical. Give them some credit. Obviously every conservative will not agree on every social issue. More troubling would be the acceptance of groups like the Log Cabin Republicans and GOProud. Direct your concerns somewhere else. You are allowing the liberal media to divide us. If Santorum were to become the nominee he will have bigger issues to deal with in Iran, the economy, and Obamacare. Embrace his passion to stand for this country, the rights of every American, and TRUE conservatism.

Stop allowing the SRM to set the agenda of debate. You have fallen prey to their trickery.

There is no need for an apology but I do thank you.

Uh huh. I did read your lame attempt to compare the jokes.

I really find it hard to believe that you think a joke about women learning to enjoy rape is comparable to a joke about pinching an aspirin between your legs to remain chaste.

One is a callous horrific dismissal of violence and abuse, the other is a goofy visual image joking about behaving yourself.

But I guess you can be outraged at both, if you are unable to distinguish. Don't vote for Frosty Freeze, or whatever that jokester's name was.

Trying to use it as a hammer against Santorum reaches a level of asinine one must usually tune-in to MSNBC to witness.

It is an old tactic. Along the same track as “When did you stop beating your wife.”

Looks like a Catholic who is faithful to his church can’t be elected by the GOP. Interesting message being pushed here.

Still, I am glad I voted for Rick in Iowa.
