In the near future the mankind will face a new ice age not a global warming. That is the forecast which has been made by Habibullo Abdussamatov, the head of Space research laboratory at the Saint Petersburg-based Pulkovo Observatory, who is a well known global warming skeptic. According to him the coming cold will be caused by a decline in solar activity. Last time our planet experienced it in mid 17th century until the early 18th century. Nevertheless most of the climate experts including the colleagues of Abdusamatov do not support his theory.

It is so nice to have some one of great importance verify my Kitchen/TV Room work. It would be nice if NASA, NOAA and the British Royal Society and the MET got a clue.

Life continues to imitate the Twilight Zone.
“Imagine, if you will, a world where American scientists push alarmist political propaganda, and the only country where legitimate climate researchers can recieve funding and unbiased peer review is Russia. A place called... the Twilight Zone.”

Should read: "Nevertheless most of the climate experts including the colleagues of Abdusamatov, all of whom have their own contrary theories, do not support his theory."
This is like saying that vegetarians don't support the nutritionist that claims meat is an easy and effective (and tasty) way to get a wide range of nutrients necessary for human health.

But the Earth's climate is ENTIRELY determined by CO2 levels. There is NO variability in solar output! (/sarc)

How much good will all the solar panels do if it gets really nasty? Imagine if you will, a place which gets most of its energy from solar power, where the darkness from a storm front can shut down solar energy production across several states for hours, forcing electric companies to maintain conventional power plants to provide 100% backup on hot-standby. Imagine the LUNACY of thinking that this scenario is rational...

I've been monitoring the NASA sunspot cycle projections. At the beginning of February, Hathaway had the model being that Cycle 24 would peak in 2014 at a level close to 100. Last week, on Feb 16, he updated his model to predict the peak occurring in 2013 at a level around 65.
Looking at the trends (and it will take another three months of observations to be sure it's not a blip), it might be the case that we ALREADY had the peak, and this is an unusual short cycle.

My home sits on a gravel bench in a U-shaped valley. Glaciers were here less than 10 millenia ago. Hell, the MacBeth Icefield is a day-hike from here.
I’m hoping for global warming, anthropogenic or otherwise - no colder winters, please!

None. The will be insufficiant sunlight to generate power - think dead of winter. Worse, those solar panels are soaking up heat which is not going to warm the earth and such owners will be considered among the worst of criminals ...
Put down that solar panel before it gets you in real trouble.
