In fact, it has now been six months since the Great Gibson Guitar Raid… and even though Gibson’s business was damaged, and half a million dollars’ worth of property was confiscated, no charges have been filed at all.

It was a warning to Republicans to STFU.

It’s hard to believe the Republic has fallen this far.

And that no Republican representative is howling about it.

There’s NO media reporting this continuation either.

And, what about our 16 hostages in Egypt? WHY aren’t isn’t the media counting the days until they are released....as we did under Carter?

There are so many outrages, it’s hard to keep up with what’s happening on each one.

Would anyone know if there were complaints if the press didn't acknowledge such complaints?

Winner winner chicken dinner.

Which is why county sheriffs need to stop this kind of federal jackbooted behavior.

I heard Mark Levin advise this CEO on his radio show as to what to file. I don’t remember the name of the form but it had to do with whether other guitar companies were being treated the same way and why they were singled out for this raid. I bet Levin has been advising this guy behind the scenes too.

Ohhh, it was pretty obvious to the people here in Tennessee that Gibson was being singled out. Apparently, the DOJ didn’t approve of their political contributions...among other things.

Yep. Citizens United may have given you new powers to take us on. But we'll get you, and your little dog too.

Also no updates on the Hutaree “militia”, remember those dangerous white Christian terrorists so conveniently paraded on network news when the Dems were in ‘Tea Partyers are terrorists!’ mode?

the second sentence of the article:

The raid by armed agents was ostensibly conducted because Gibson was illegally using rare, restricted woods from India and Madagascar to make its guitars.

that's so wrong. the raid had nothing to do with madagascar. that was the first raid (and the government's civil forfeiture action had already been filed before the second raid). and 'making' guitars wasn't the issue. luthier mercantile changing the harmonized schedule code and description on the import documents, listing a false ultimate consignee, not filing a lacey declaration at the time of import and more - but 'making' guitars was never an issue.

the author can't even get the basics right? if the author is going to disagree with something, he should understand it a little bit first. no criminal charges yet against theodor nagel gmbh, luthier mercantile, gene nix, gibson, henry j, david berryman, but a civil forfeiture action filed after each raid.

They are NOT guilty of anything. So, why hasn't their property been returned?

i'm working one handed after shoulder surgery yesterday, so it's not easy to pull up documents.

the article mentions the seizure of a half-million dollars in property. the filings in united states vs. 25 bundles of indian ebony wood, case no. 3-11-CV-00913 (u.s. district court for the middle district of tennessee) reflect that the gov't only kept ebony fretboard blanks worth about 1/10th of that, if i remember (i need to plug in an external hard drive to get those pleadings).

and although it's likely the ebony is gibson's property, luthier mercantile has also asserted a claim of ownership. gibson hadn't paid lmi for the blanks and some were seized before they reached gibson.

when you say gibson's not guilty of anything, you're familiar with gene nix's boots on the ground trip to madagascar, the emails and internal gibson reports, roger thunam and theodor nagel gmbh?
