I didn’t think it was possible to be less enthusiastic about a candidate than I was with McCain last time. Unfortunately, it didn’t even take 4 full years to find someone worse.

Newt got hammered on Bain Capital (rightfully) but the MSM will not hardly mention this about Mitten’s.

I'm not part of the 1%, but FUMR.

Several commentators have this right: when he tries to give a conservative answer, he really has to think about it. I believe it happens because his first thoughts are liberal.

Not to lend credence to Romney’s statement, but it occurs to me that this “1%” include people like Buffett, Gates, Kerry and any number of leftists who are constantly playing the class card.

Maybe we need to start challenging all these “do as I say, not as I do” lie-berals to start walking the walk that they are constantly talking about.

Rush had a cow about Romney’s statement yesterday.

On his radio show Thursday, Rush pointed out that tax cuts do NOT increase the deficit.....they increase economic activity, and therefore bring in more money to the government.

When Reagan took office in January 1981, the IRS was raking in $500 billion per year. Eight years later, when Reagan left office, the IRS was taking in $950 billion per year.

Here’s hoping that Romney is NOT the nominee.

I’ve got an idea:

If you didn’t pay any federal income taxes last year, you don’t get to vote in a federal election. Think that might change the political landscape?

Major faux pas for Romney. Did someone not tell him that during the nomination process--as a would-be Republican candidate--he's supposed to run to the right, not the left!

Just the fact that he's using the same language as the radical leftists does not bode well. Even hinting that a certain economic class of people should pay a certain amount, implicitly agrees with the whole premise of the OWS crowd AND Obama.

Mr. Romney, our country is not in the shape it's in because we have a revenue problem. It's in the shape it's in because we have a spending problem! Claiming this person or that person should pay an arbitrary "more" amount, supports a moving target.

It's like the scene from the Chevy Chase movie, "Vacation," where Clark Griswold asks "how much will his auto repairs cost?" The mechanic says, "how much you got?"

Finally, claiming that only 1% should pay more, is just the first step in an incremental claim against all of us. After insisting those at the very top pay more, it stands to reason that those in the top 5 or 10 percent are also doing much better than everyone else, and should be taxed more; soon, the top 49 percent are being asked to pay more.

Romney has drunk the liberal kool aid. Romney is now and has always been a liberal. The only thing that has changed with Romney is that he is trying to convince people that his liberalism is actually conservative.

Who Pays Income Taxes and How Much?

Tax Year 2009

Percentiles Ranked by AGI

AGI Threshold on Percentiles

Percentage of Federal Personal Income Tax Paid

Top 1%

$343,927

36.73

Top 5%

$154,643

58.66

Top 10%

$112,124

70.47

Top 25%

$66,193

87.30

Top 50%

$32,396

97.75

Bottom 50%

<$32,396

2.25

Note: AGI is Adjusted Gross Income
Source: Internal Revenue Service

Now: you may be aware that the top 1% paid 40% of all Federal income taxes in 2007. Why did their share drop to under 37% in 2009? Because the average annual income for the top 1% has dropped by over $66,000, thanks to Obama's brilliant economic policies. A falling tide sinks all boats.
