"Once in custody Lane was advised of his rights, he confessed to taking the .22 pistol to school along with a knife,"...

"He admitted he fired 10 rounds into a group of students, that he did not know the students, and that he chose them randomly."

He chose his victims at random. This is not about bullying. This is not about drugs," the prosecutor said.

I believe you. I see this a great deal of the time and it gets progressively (pun intended) worse.

Our public school system has so watered down the educational requirements, that even those with learning disabilities are BORED and unchallenged. This is certainly not the case in *every* school, but it IS the case in the majority.

“What’s changed?””

Overall, I’d say that, as a culture, we have increasingly ignored God and His ways. This has removed us from His protection and wisdom in a corresponding variety of ways.

Sounds like neither of this kid’s parents were around as he was raised by the grandfather’s neighbors?

There are tens of thousands of kids raised by people other than their parents. Very few of them end up spree killers. So you can't blame the parenting. This turd is old enough to know the difference between right and wrong, and chose to do wrong. He chose to end the lives of three other people. I hope the try him as an adult, convict the evil worthless POS and execute him. It won't bring back his victims, but then he won't be around to gloat about it. I'm pretty sure Ohio has the death penalty, but as I remember there is some controversy about it,

RE :”Confiscate guns? Then he would have likely made a home made bomb, and killed 50-100 kids.

Michael Moore (not me) would say:
OK, how about regulating the sale of anything flammable much like we do with cough medicine to deter manufacture of crystal meth? How many matches and lighter fluid do you need at one time anyway? You can always go back and get more in a week. Plus they create global warming anyway so you should be eating raw food.

A problem or broken law usually means we have too much freedom as with political speech (Citizens United) or guns, except with abortion and BC and SS sodomy as those are NOW ‘rights’that guarantee they be provided free of charge by you.

Democrats :” Execute the guns before they force another innocent person to kill

Like when Nancy Pelosi flaunted the passage of the most evil and intrusive government mandate in history with gavel in hand using the black man as a prop to evoke sympathy, and all the media could do was focus on the angry Tea Party “spitters”.

I like private and/or home schooling but, at this point, it would not be realistic for everyone.

DITTO! Labor union-controlled teachers intentionally dumbing-down students groomed to become ‘Democrats’.

The State should produce a brief documentary of what he did then show it to all 7th grade classrooms along with his execution by firing squad immediately afterward.

I agree with your assessment: they’re going for an insanity plea. Everything I’ve heard reported (I live 10 minutes north of Chardon) shows that the shooter knew his victims. There was one report that the victims also sold the shooter fake drugs last week. This was not a random act of violence.

This act was premeditated murder and he should be tried as an adult and face the death penalty. Of course the hand wringers and bleeding hearts will try to blame bullying, society, easy gun access, violent video games and a whole list of other excuses.

While I agree wholeheartedly about the execution, I think the less shown or said about this human shaped piece of garbage the better. Maybe just showing his execution (with the traditional black bag over his head) after a brief memorial for each of the victims.

Some years ago Reason Magazine did a very interesting article on a different way to school our kids. Instead of building big facilities & bussing kids in, they suggested buying a home within each neighborhood. Kids surrounding that area would be able to walk in & walk home. Classes would be much smaller & there wouldn’t be a teacher for each grade level. They’d spend more time with the younger students & older students would be given assignments to do ‘on their own.’ If the population of kids dropped, the ‘school’ just gets sold & becomes a home again. It was certainly an interesting idea. Wish I’d kept the article...

Wow...that’s downright scary. Especially knowing that just about anybody these days can walk in and get a scrip for just about anything.

And replace it with WHAT?

You could replace it with nothing and get the same result, except there would be a lot more unemployable teachers hanging around the union hall.

All the media types looking to somehow excuse these murders, immediately started up their, "He was bullied" campaign.

My guess is the passive is not the correct voice in this case.

Good point. Focusing on the victim’s lives, family, etc, then showing the execution would be a better deterrent.
