March 1, 2012 | Canteen Crew

FR CANTEEN MISSION STATEMENT

Showing support and boosting the morale
of our military and our allied military
and the family members of the above.
Honoring those who have served before.

Remember the Good Old Days?
Sock Hops?
Drive-in Movies?
Buddy Holly?
Or other things that made it Fabulous?
You know, before cellphones?
Come on in and share your memories.
Or take a trip back in time.

Let's start with the 1950.

First Modern Credit Card Introduced
In 1949, Frank X. McNamara thought of a way for customers
to have just one credit card that they could use at multiple stores.
McNamara discussed the idea with two colleagues
and the three pooled some money and started a new company in 1950
which they called the Diners Club.

First "Peanuts" Cartoon Strip
The very first Peanuts comic strip, written by Charles M. Schulz,
appeared in seven newspapers on October 2, 1950.

Number One Hit
8 July 1950 ~ Mona Lisa ~ (Nat "King" Cole)

here

Remember, the Canteen is a family friendly place.
We welcome the military, our allies, and their families.
Continued prayers for the success and completion of your mission.
Prayers for your safe return home.

Good morning, Beachy!

*HUGS*

I remember the VW Microbus quite well - we owned three of them in the late 50's - early 60's.

Nos genuflectitur ad non princeps sed Princeps Pacem!

Listen, O isles, unto me; and hearken, ye people, from far; The LORD hath called me from the womb; from the bowels of my mother hath he made mention of my name. (Isaiah 49:1 KJV)

The Coffee tree is mostly ornamental. The flowers smell like gardenias. My little tree actually produced Coffee Cherries last year, but they were stunted and bitter. Coffee trees need volcanic soil and mountain breezes to produce REAL coffee.

Juan Valdez told me so! :-)

WOW, never knew The Coffee tree is mostly ornamental. The flowers smell like gardenias.

Love gardenias too. Have two shrubs next to my front porch so I can smell them when I out there.

The leaves on the coffee tree look just like gardenias, oval, pointy on each end, and dark glossy green.

When I walk Linda The Dog in the morning before sunrise, the aromas from the various flowers are amazing. Like walking through the perfume department at Saks Fifth Avenue. ESPECIALLY if there was a little pre-dawn sprinkle of rain.
