Yes, President Inflate-Your-Tires has once again found a real solution to America's energy problems: buy a fuel efficient car! In his weekly address this morning, Obama suggests that the remedy to rising gas prices is coming from Detroit -- but it won't actually be here until 2025.
In his weekly radio and online address Saturday, Obama said Detroit automakers are on track to build cars that average nearly 55 miles per gallon by 2025, doubling current mileage standards.
"That means folks will be able to fill up every two weeks instead of every week, saving the typical family more than $8,000 at the pump over time," he said. "That's a big deal, especially as families are yet again feeling the pinch from rising gas prices."
"What's happening in Detroit will make a difference. But it won't solve everything," Obama said. "There's no silver bullet for avoiding spikes in gas prices every year."
Why don't you tell that to President Bush? You blamed him for increased gas prices back in 2008, when it cost $2.50/gallon to fill up.
You know what we call that now, Mr. President? The good old days.
Now, here we are, facing $5/gallon, and not only does Obama refuse to take the blame, but the best answer he can offer is a car that won't even be built for another 13 years. No, we won't build a pipeline from Canada to reduce our dependence on Middle Eastern oil. No, we won't allow for increased extraction of domestic oil reserves. Apparently, we're not even relying on the search for new forms of fuel as the cornerstone of this administration's energy policy.
Apparently, he's given up. It's on you now, America. Just buy a new car.
Rep. Doc Hastings of Washington, who gave the Republican address in response, said it best: "The president, who campaigned on a promise to address rising gas prices, now talks as if they're largely beyond his control."

BTW, all-electric cars have been around since the 1800’s. They were very prevalant in the early 1900’s, but their big downfall was their limited range. And even today with all our technolgy, we still have that pesky limited range problem and no amount of marketing or political BS can cover it up.
And don’t forget to keep your tires at their proper inflation.

Hey Mr President! Most of the driveways in my neighborhood already have fuel-efficient Hyundais, Kias, and Toyotas sitting in them—and it costs almost $60 to fill them up thanks to your “the cost of energy will necessarily skyrocket” policies.
Silly American! The all-father knows best - what need do you have to travel beyond a few miles of your government approved domicile...

OK, I dug out that “light sweater” that Jimmah Carter said would solve the energy crisis in the early 70s, covered it with algae from Oakland’s Lake Merritt, and over inflated my tires.
But gas around here is STILL well over $4 per gallon! What am I doing wrong? Oh, and the algae gets itchy when it dries...

If a Volt doesn't flip over backwards or fail to pull the hills around here I have to wonder what it's range is measured in feet.
Government Motor is shutting down the Volt assembly line for 5 weeks! Better get one before they stop making them. I for sure want to be PC.
Their understanding of human nature is why their Constitution strictly limited, divided, separated, checked and balanced the coercive power they would grant to a President, a Congress, a Senate, or a Judiciary branch of government.
Never before have we had such a glaring example of their wisdom and prescience. Even they could not have imagined that 237 years later there could be such arrogance and presumption of power by a sitting President.
The equivalent would have been a Washington, Adams, Jefferson, or Madison advising citizens on which horse or mule they should choose for their farms or travels, or which crop they should plant and put on their tables.
Their passion was for individual liberty, and they were willing to sacrifice their own lives, property, and sacred honor to secure it for us! No time for interfering in the personal lives and decisions of their fellow citizens--only time for defending the nation and assuring that the precious Constitution they had framed was honored and preserved for such as now inhabit the land.
Are there examples in American history where the general welfare of the society benefited by applying the principles of so-called "government" control?
A reading of Governor Bradford's diary of the experience of the Jamestown Colony might be instructive here.

When GM gives up and discontinues the car will replacement batteries even be made?
Pretty expensive paperweight if the model ends up scrapped.
Or really expensive replacment batteries, if they end up only available aftermarket...
Not like there will be a big market out there to support, a small selling car.

Odinga Omullah has just not figured out how to shake down the pipeline yet. As soon as the toll is paid the pipe will be laid.

Now let me see if I have this right. Today I fill up a car that gets 30 miles to the gallon and gas costs $4/gal. In 2025 I fill up a car that gets 60 miles to the gallon and gas costs $8/gal. I don’t know how that equates to $8,000 in savings. Seems to me like a breakeven. But I guess Obama counts on products of our school system not to get it.
Plan No. 2, buy a fuel efficient car.
Plan No. 1, carry a tire guage in your pocket.
When will the Democrats quit?
