Gingrich must endorse Santorum
http://www.freerepublic.com ^ | 6 March 2012 | impimp

I have advocated Gingrich staying in until sometime in March. I felt the vote splitting would help prevent Romney from locking up a sufficient number of bound delegates to take the nomination. The plan did a good job so far, but not a great job.

I think now the mathematics is shifting such that Gingrich needs to bow out. The reasons for the shift are:

1. winner-take-alls coming up soon - vote splitting begins to really hurt us in these primaries 2. we need money consolidating behind Santorum. 3. Santorum made the Indiana ballot after all

But now Gingrich needs to bow out.

Ron Paul has the least.

Just think. Ron Paul gets 41% against Romney in Virginia!

Now THAT’S a revolt, in-your-face, to RINO World, no matter if VA this year is an anomaly.

No, I’m watching RCP online. But that’s the same impression I’m getting. Romney gaining gradually, presently at +5,859 (+0.5%) with 91% reporting. Doesn’t look good for Santorum. He’d have to win the remaining 9% of the vote by 6% to make it up, and he’s never been ahead by more than 3 or so the whole night.

It is what it is and we don’t kowtow.

Newt was not the first, and won’t be the last.

Try to run over us and see what happens.

I was sure Gingrich would take 2nd place in Tennessee, but you are right, he was 3rd (barely).

So Super Tuesday, pending Ohio switching (Romney ahead now), and no Alaska report (lower points better):

Romney 6-1st, 3-2nd, 1-3rd. (9)
Santorum - 3-1st, 3-2nd, 4-3rd (18)
Paul - 0-1st, 4-2nd, 2-3rd, 4-4th (30)
Gingrich - 1-1st, 4-3rd, 5-4th (32)

Gingrich only beat Santorum in 1 out of the 10 reported results, and actually did worse than Paul in state placements (but better with total votes and delegates because of Georgia).

Gingrich was really close in Olkahoma and Tennessee though. And Wyoming hasn’t reported enough to count yet.

Do you know of a link to a total delegate count for each candidate being run as each of the primaries take place. There used to be someone here on FR who kept a running record of awarded delegates for each candidate in some past primary elections.

Friend, you’re so far back in the rear-view mirror you can’t be run over and you don’t matter anymore. You’re done. It’s over for Newt.

Santorum is sitting just at 20% in Georgia. If he can and up at or better than 20%, he takes a number of delegates from Romney. He also might be able to take some 2nd-place finishes in a few districts, costing Romney those delegates as well.

Every candidate has to do what they think is best. My only problem with the Robocalls in Georgia is that Newt didn’t need the votes — it might put him over 50% in some districts, so it might have helped.

But Santorum is currently at 19.6%. If he just had 0.4% better results, he’d take a half-dozen delegates from Romney. Those Robocalls probably give Romney a few more delegates.

What I would like to see is the total number of delegates that have been awarded each candidate so far. I notice that one candidate can win a particular state popular vote, and yet may not win more delegates than the second place winner.
I notice that the MSM does not want to show us a running actual delegate count for each candidate. I wonder why?

If you think it’s about Newt, you missed it. You and I are FRiends, I suspect.

It’s about ending the gop machine pretending to represent Conservatives.

Some of us are fiscal, some of us are social (Biblical).

What binds us and some other strange bedfellows is the Constitution. We’ll sort the minor differences out later.

Peace, Bro; cheers.

Newt is the only one who grasps all of the issues and thinks fast enough on his feet to be able to offset the fact that hussein will be given the debate questions ahead of time.

Only Newt is mean enough to lead us now. Should Romney or Santo manage to somehow beat hussein, they will out do Bush when it comes to turning the other cheek until the media has destroyed their ability to lead.

Newt!

Newt can’t even win among Republicans, or even conservatives, yet somehow he is going to win the presidency when he is running 3rd place in the primaries.

Most brilliant statement I've heard all night.

Mitt and Santorum are not going to when the general election because they have no reform ideas they can express and they are not effective in talking over the biased media.

Newt can.

We no doubt are friends. Everything with Newt is about Newt, if we are honest. Regardless, even if it is about Newt, it won’t be about Newt anymore after tonight.

Newt is no longer a serious contender, nor should he be considered as such - Republicans don’t want him - they would have voted for him otherwise.

Sheldon A., the Nevada Billionaire purportedly will give up to $100 million to Romney if Newt gets out. Romney would then destroy Santorum. Sheldon is terrified of Santorum.

“I vote Newt for Press Secretary.”

I think Newt needs to stay away from Secretaries.

Just make him Presidential Historian, lock him in the library, and make sure he behaves himself in the stacks.
