Santorum on Bush Team in 2006 when GOP & Santorum lost House, Senate. Obama easily beats Rick.
March 10, 2012 | Ralph Mitchell

Posted on 03/09/2012 10:20:08 PM PST by mitchell001

Obama could easily beat Rick Santorum, because Rick is tightly tied to Bush's high spending and wars. Rick got kicked out of his Senate seat in 2006 when the Dems took charge of both the House and the Senate due to the failed policies of the Bush administration. Santorum equals Bush, since Santorum in his own words was a team player in Congress. Obama will blame Santorum for Bush job losses, mortgage failures, bank failures and war spending. Message to GOP, forget Santorum, forget Romney and Romneycare, NOMINATE GINGRICH.

And you think Obama won’t hammer Gingrich on Ethics Violations Charges; and $1.6m from Fannie Mae as part of the housing mortgage crisis, which is more current and fresh on voters’ minds?

Right on.

Santorum is from the old guard republicanism. Don't wont to go backwards. Support the best candidate, Newt Gingrich.

Very weak comparison. Newt was working as a citizen, not as an elected official. Santorum abandoned his conservative principles to back Bush in 2005. Voted with unions against National Right to Work.

Gingrich would be the strongest running against Obama.
Next down would be Romney, followed by Santorum & last is Paul.

On Greta last night, Newt talked about going all the way to Tampa, so the conservatives in the race could “short” Romney on the delegates, and steal it from him. There was a really good discussion on another thread last night, too, that this was the only chance... an alliance between at least rick and newt, and maybe paul, but I don’t see paul doing anything but going with romney. I’m not even sure Santorum will withstand Romney, whatever he tempts him with. That seems to be the strategy.

Newt is always 10 mil miles ahead of everybody else. I think this is his strategy, which means his supporters are just going to have to shut out the noise, and not get discouraged if he doesn’t do well in MS and AL, as the media and everybody will start the clamor for him to get out. The man is marching on no matter what. The man is marching on...

“Obama could easily beat Rick Santorum”

Duh. Why do you think Democrats have been organizing for him since Michigan (maybe even farther back I’m not sure).

Fox News:
I’m officially endorsing Newt Gingrich for President today
Jan 19, 2012 | Jim Robinson, Free Republic

I’m officially endorsing Newt Gingrich for president today. Was going to wait until after Florida, but see no reason to delay. We need Newt to win in South Carolina and Florida to stop any possible momentum building up for the establishment big government, statist, abortionist RINO!!

RomneyCare = ObamaCare = government tyranny!! Taxpayer funded abortion is as evil as evil can be!!

Newt is a pro-life Reagan Revolution conservative who led the Republican Revolution of the 90’s, taking the majority away from the democrats who had held it for 40 years. And as Speaker, cut the taxes, cut the government, cut the spending, cut the deficit, cut regulations, cut unemployment, brought the federal budget under control for four years running. And unlike Romney, actually blocked a socialist healthcare system from becoming law. And created a pro-growth, pro-free market, pro-jobs environment and extended the Reagan economy throughout the 90’s!! Newt is the ideal candidate to lead the Tea Party Revolution!!

And in every single poll Obama beats Gingrich worse. Gingrich has THE worst favorables. He is utterly unelectable.

Santorum 2012

As a Texan, I am very anti-union, I don’t think conservatives know that about Santorum.

If he is union scum that would hurt him terribly with conservatives, if they ever found out.

Without the left fearing him, we just don’t see the anal probe that conservatives get from the media.

Unelectable is Santorum being dumped from his Senate seat in a record breaking 18 point history making defeat, means quite a lot.

Absolutely correct! As Prof. Sowell writes Gingrich carries enough baggage to fill a commercial airliner.

Ansel12 cites Jim Robinson to make the point that we have an “official” endorsement of Gingrich and as such regardless of the reality on the ground since that announcement of Jim Robinson, that any post against Gingrich is heresy.

That was a personal endorsement in January which we all shared and at a time when Gingrich was a viable candidate. As his star faded, however, we were asked to join “Le Resistance” to stop Romney. That was the end game. Gingrich was considered the candidate with the most potential at the time to stop Romney. Fair enough.

But this is not the case today. Indeed, as Carl Cameron reported on FoxNews on the night of Super-Tuesday, the “Romney camp is happy to see Gingrich still in the race” and so we now have the perverse condition of Gingrich becoming an enabler of Romney. Look no further than AZ, WA, MI, and OH where Romney won by a squeaker. This is not what Jim Robinson, or any FReeper wants. Politics is fluid, the ground game changes, but let’s not lose sight of our objective. Santorum is now our best bet agains Obama. Rasmussen has Santorum trailing Obama by a mere three points whereas Obama is so far ahead of Gingrich that he falls out of view in the rear view mirror.

This will be a 2-man race if not by tomorrow then most definitely by Tuesday.

Rick got kicked out of his Senate seat in 2006 when the Dems took charge of both the House and the Senate due to the failed policies of the Bush administration.

I would think some of it was being joined at the hip with Specter his entire career.

Santorum even endorsed Specter's campaign to make the GOP a pro-abortion party, in his 1996 Presidential run.

If you are going to use me in a post, then ping me.

You are lying when you use Sowell that way, Sowell endorses Gingrich, as does Jim Robinson of freerepublic.

You also seem to be implying that Jim Robinson has retracted his endorsement of Gingrich, which he hasn’t.

You may be as dishonest as you obviously are, and try to lie about Sowell, but I doubt that it is very smart to try and lie about JR, and for you to be giving the impression that he has changed his endorsement.
