Man Found Not Guilty of Killing Daughter's Ex(NE)

OMAHA (KPTM)-A jury has found an Omaha man not guilty of murdering his daughter's ex-boyfriend.

Sidney Andersen walked out of the Douglas County Courthouse a free man Friday afternoon.

Prosecutors say he shot and killed Randall Grimm at an area grocery store in February 2011.

Andersen's lawyer said he shot Grimm in self-defense and claimed Grimm had made threats to his family and even beat his daughter.

Prosecutors say the jury found that the shooting was justified. They however believe the crime was pre-meditated since Andersen was armed with two guns and rubber gloved the night of the killing. Prosecutors also said that Andersen called investigators in Sarpy County leading up to the shooting. They told Andersen to let them handle the situation.

Was just gonna say, in Texas it’s called the “he just needed killin’” defense. Seems to work when true. : )

“Some folks just needs killin’”

That is an affirmative defense in some jurisdictions.

I am not talking about Van der Sloot.

This is a newer case.

This case has to do with a woman who willing went with a “stranger” to Aruba.

Please read my post #10 again.

I agree with what you said....I think women are getting dumber than when I was a young woman...some seem to think they need a man, any man....I love men, but not all of them, some just need to be avoided.

Is not anyone who legally carries a weapon premeditating its use for self defense?

You would 'lawfully carry' a weapon for offensive use?
Folks who have followed the rules of our society to carry weapons per those rules are very unlikely to do so for offensive reasons. They do recognize that there are those who do not follow the rules, and so they rightfully premeditate self-defense in the event they encounter such miscreants. There's also valid reason to carry a weapon outside of our society, such as going about the wilderness, and the chance encounter with an animal that may do you or your companions harm.

Weapons are tools, and as such should be selected thoughtfully for the scenarios you could become engaged in. A Colt .45 is a lousy hammer - a Nail-Gun is a lousy defensive weapon. Premeditation.

Boyfriend...........................Daddy

It's not hard to see why she picked this guy, on looks alone. Without therapy, both men and women tend to pick someone resembling their opposite-sex parent, no matter how abusive. Also, from the original newspaper story:

Andersen [the father] apparently had similar domestic violence issues. In 2009, Andersen also had a protection order filed against him by his wife. She claimed he was abusive toward her on numerous occasions. In the court documents, she claimed he pushed her, choked her and shook her to the point where she "could not breathe."

“...some just need to be avoided.”

And this is where brains and just plain common sense are lacking!!!!

It is called “stupidity.”

goat granny,

I am laughing my head off….Our wonderful FR men are not willing to wade into this observation about women’s lack of brains in dating criminals and then getting whacked.

The State is ALWAYS “lawyered up”. Shouldn’t a smart defendant do the same?

Not always. Some of us find it sporting to piss off liberals.

Sure; I can’t blame him. I’m sure prison is beyond awful, and the death penalty is probably worse...
