David Suzuki Goes Ballistic, Advocates Retracting All Rights From AGW Skeptics (my title)
Watts Up With That? ^ | 9MAR2012 | Anthony Watts

Posted on 03/10/2012 11:57:42 AM PST by Jack Hydrazine

David “fruit fly” Suzuki goes ballistic, and advocates retracting all rights from skeptics. I’m mentioned as some sort of baddie central, but at least I don’t dress up with Santa Claus to scare the kids and ask their parents to send me money. Where’s that DDT when you need it?

From the Huffington Post:

“This public responsibility is especially important in light of the stepped-up efforts to deny the reality of climate change, or the role humans play in it. Cases in point are illustrated by the “denialgate” scandal revealed by the release of Heartland Institute documents and the revelation that Ottawa’s Carleton University hired Tom Harris, a PR man for a number of “astroturf” groups with a mechanical engineering background, to teach a course on climate change.

“There are many credible sources of information, and they aren’t blog sites run by weathermen like Anthony Watts, or industry-funded fake science organizations. One place to start is at Skeptical Science. Click on the tab that says “Arguments” for scientific responses to all the main climate change denier talking points.

=============================================================

Apparently, I’ve irritated the fruit fly. WUWT must be having an effect then. In truest fashion, he can’t be bothered to name the website much less link to it, but it is nice to see that I’m irritating him.

– Anthony

UPDATE: It seems all is not well in Fruit Fly land. His foundation website doesn’t even register on Alexa.com due to it having a traffic rank greater than 100K. Lower number is better: (see graphs at link) Must really bite when a web site run by some “evil denier TV weatherguy” kicks your butt in your own country. WUWT actually does more than twice as well in Canada as Suzuki.

Maybe I should send him some “denier swarms” to boost traffic.

Title of article is, "Friday Funny: Apparently, I’ve irritated the fruit fly," which is response to the HuffPo article written by David Suzuki, "Deny Deniers Their Right To Deny!".

The first title wasn't really descriptive of the article and I didn't want to post a HuffPo title so I hope the moderators will understand.

This is once how those who believed the earth was flat, dealt with skeptics.

In case anyone is wondering, the “fruit fly” sobriquet refers to Suzuki's training as a geneticist. (They use fruit flies as their “lab rats”.)

IOW, Suzuki has no professional training in climate “science”. It would seem that a weatherman (meteorologist), such as Watt, is more qualified to discuss climate matters. Also, Suzuki clearly implies that a mechanical engineer is not qualified to discuss climate — even though the engineer probably had a more rigorous training in mathematics than Suzuki had.

I absolutely love the suggestion by one of the posters that it is ‘VERY unfortunate that ‘Earth Hour’ would choose the date of their special hour to exactly coincide with ‘Engineering and Scientific Achievement Hour’.... for the time from 8:30 to 9:30 pm on March 31, turn on every electrical appliance in your house. If you have electric heaters and gas… turn them both on and open every window you have. Let your cars, snow blowers, lawnmowers and garden tractors idle in the driveway. It’s actually very simple… for the one hour of Engineering and Scientific Achievement Day, switch on EVERY SINGLE ITEM YOU OWN THAT ACTUALLY REQUIRES ENERGY… ESPECIALLY ELECTRIC APPLIANCES THAT TAKE LOTS OF POWER. For this one hour, you can even leave the fridge door wide open. Do all the baking that you had been planning on doing and in fact, leave the oven door open while you are doing it…perhaps celebrate by having oven cooked pizza. All those tasks that you have been putting off? Do them during this 8:30 to 9:30 pm timeframe! Vacuum the house, do a steam clean of all your carpets and so on…. Perhaps in advance of the great event, send out literature to all your neighbours and run a contest…. Record your kWh right at 8:30 and again at 9:30 pm and see who increased their kWh the most! Have a prize for the winner… if the neighbourhood is large, the prize could be something that was truly symbolic of Engineering and Scientific Achievement day… Something like a Ford F350 4 wheel drive would be appropriate!....

I hope that someone takes it on as a project to put up an ‘Engineering and Scientific Achievement Hour’ website.....

Just last week as part of an AGW "discussion" among some FaceBook folks, some eco-lib posted a link to SkepticalScience as some be-all, end-all authority on AGW.

I proceeded to inform him that SkepticalScience, along with the guy who runs it (John Cook), was just another of many propaganda outlets perpetuating the myth of AGW. I also commented that to rely on this website as a source of "proof" was laughable.

Do these idiot socialists know that they exhale CO2 and fart CO2 and methane? They cannot even control their own orifices from their mythical planet heating pollutants.

Suzuki spent part of his childhood during WW II in a detainment camp for enemy aliens. Maybe something happened to his brain there.

When I was growing up in Canuckistan, Suzuki was and is still the craziest “perfessor” they could find at the anti-American CBC.

Still remembered him on one episode explaining that the waves of the ocean was due to....’the heat coming from distant populations across the ocean’.

It was absolute sh*t.

Yeah, he looks like your school gardener but when he starts explaining stuff on Nature’, it’s like listening to a mental patient.

The best part is when it comes to the segments about “humans vs nature” or “corporations ruin mother earth”, he starts getting angry and drooling like a diseased dog. That gave us laughs back in high school.

Is he the same guy who did that preachy 'nature stuff' on TV and wanted to send AWG 'skeptics' to prison a few years ago?

Hummm. I'm thinking he's a Gobbles kind of guy here. "My way or the gas chamber" kind of stuff.
