BRUNSWICK, Mo. — Mitt Romney and his campaign advisers pride themselves on vigorously pursuing every delegate in every corner of the country in their quest to secure the Republican presidential nomination.

That was not the case here Thursday evening at the Chariton County caucus inside the Railyard Steakhouse, where Republicans voted to send their full share of delegates to the district and state conventions in support of Rick Santorum.

How is it you are the only person I hate Idaho who supports Santorum supporter?

Let me fix my original post:

My caucus is Saturday.

The local Republican leadership in Pulaski County, who as far as I can tell are mostly if not entirely Santorum supporters, didn't expect the race would last this long since in previous years Super Tuesday essentially ended the race. Once it became clear this would be a real contest in our county, they rented the second-largest off-post venue in the Fort Leonard Wood area (the old Waynesville Middle School facility) since nobody has any idea how many people will show up.

While our county did vote by a large margin for Rick Santorum in the previous “beauty contest” primary, it's anybody’s guess what will happen and much will depend on turnout. In a heavily military community, large numbers of people are registered to vote elsewhere and the idea of going to a caucus where voters publicly disclose their candidate preference is not something that a lot of active duty servicemembers are comfortable doing, or for that matter, military retirees now working in civil service on post.

We're hearing there are a lot of quiet Romney supporters out there. I guess we'll find out on Saturday.

Santorum is surging and if Newt would not insist on being a disgruntled ego maniacal spoiler who can't admit he blew his own chances, he would win outright.

But Newt will take just enough conservatives from Santorum for Romney to win.

In Pennsylvania, Rick's state, Newt's campaign is spending big money smearing, not Mitt but Rick. It's disgusting.

Given the 2 front runners presented by the GOP I am getting the impression we are being Bob Dole’d again.

While Rick certainly seems more conservative than Mitt, his chances of defeating the obama machine in a debate are zero.

Remember, this is a machine which defeated the Clintons. This machine is kept well lubricated every hour of every day by the media and hollywierd and our institutions of higher communist education.

Rick and Mitt may be very nice men but we in a REAL war, just a war not fought by guns.

Our KGB head Janet Napolitano has declared a significant portion of our population as suspected terrorist. We are on her hit list. WE ARE AT WAR and need a CIC for not just the military but for our Constitution and the NON-”Fundamentally-Transformed” USA.

Every department in the current federal government seems geared towards destroying everything which made the USA the leader of the free world. Communists HAVE to do this otherwise we would always be a shining example which shows the world our way is 1000% better than Marxism/Communism/Socialism.

We should all get behind Sanotrum. We should all be honored to have such a principled conservative family values President. Santorum is doing extemely well against the Romney money which is significant. Even in Michigan and Ohio, Santorum would have won had Newt not been in the campaign. I think Newt should run for Governor of Georgia. He had his best results from Georgia. South Carolina he did well in too but would not be eligible for SC. There is no other state that he did well in. I just don’t see how he can be President with 2 wins. Even going into the convention, he won’t get the nominee because he can not win beyond two states. If you don’t think that will be discussed then I guess we must be dreaming. I wish Newt all the best but he needs to have a Governor spot and then come back and run in 2020 after Santorum’s two terms.

Everything you say about Rick may be true and I would not attempt to dispute any of it HOWEVER to mean anything he has to be able to beat the obama machine which uses every Saul Alinsky trick in the book along with a media willing to give him complete cover for his Marxist views and policies.

I have watched the debates and Rick would not hold a candle to obama.

In fact unfortunately, Newt with all the baggage the media refuses to let go of, is the ONLY GOP candidate with the skill set to combat Saul Alinsky type tactics.

Remember, thanks to Alinsky tactics, Obomination has no moral limits placed upon him in a debate. He can say anything and certainly the moderators will not correct him. It takes a Newt personality to fight a Marxist willing to use every trick in Alinsky’s book of deceit.

Rick/Mitt both nice men but in anything more aggressive than a pillow fight unlikely to win and win we must.

I say win we must as do to the expansion in the federal workforce (aka dumbocrap voters) if we do not win this election for the WH, Senate and keep the house they will have in place a permanent voting block which we will never be able to counter. The Marxists will have won the war using everything in the communist manifesto and aided by the Cloward & Piven strategy.

The GOP has dumped on Conservatives so much in the past by just assuming we will follow the party line. I know we have principals but they are meaningless in the next election if Obomination wins. I will be willing to take half a loaf for the president if he can win and use the Tea Party to push for a purging of the Senate and House of all communists hiding behind the progressive label. One man alone in the WH is not going to solve anything he/she will have to have the support of a majority in congress.

I am so disgusted right now after reading the post about Pennsylvania and how they are going to force Romney on us. I am now convinced they are going to force Romney on us. Newt and Santorum need to fight this ahole and his supporters back to heck where they belong. I am completely disgusted by the cheating going on in this primary.

Skipping past the paucity of their credentials, a pillow fight says it all.

I'm in Cole county, capital city. My caucus is tomorrow too.It could be interesting.I'm a Newt supporter. If Newt doesn't have any other supporters or very few I might switch to Santorum.

I'm a county committee man and I won't be making any friends by doing this. Every one else on the committee are Mitt supporters.

Yes, but Newton is too stubborn; so we won't be able to test this theory. Romney knew he could win with 35 percent and split opposition.

Newt can’t let go, and he would be what 78 in 2020.

We were more than 1 in 5 of the people who showed up at the Ada County Caucus. I humbly suggest that you may know the wrong sort of Idahoans...:)

LOL. I may.

I have become so accustomed to seeing LDS’rs pretending to be for Rick and then flushing them out for their real agenda and this article felt like one of those backhand jobs.

I see the point of the article. Don’t agree with it but we will all see things differently at times while still being on the same side.

I did peruse your posts and it does appear you are Rick supporter.

As such, I hope you will accept my apology.
