WASHINGTON The Supreme Court rejected requests from news organizations Friday for live, televised coverage of this month's historic arguments on President Obama's health care overhaul, but agreed to release audio recordings of the proceedings on the same day.
The court will post audio files and transcripts on its website within two hours of the end of the proceedings on each of the three days set aside for argument, March 26-28.

Arguments end Mar 28...how long typically before a decision would be made?
Pray for our beloved country.
Here it comes. The Big Takeover.
Good decision.
TV cameras produce drama and emotion and grandstanding. Reason and careful thought produce logical arguments and enlightened thinking resulting is throwing this monstrosity into the ash-heap of socialism, collectivism and servitude.
Actually I think this is a good sign. They are resisting Democrat attempts to turn this into a media circus.
God forbid some Justice would be caught "resting their eyes".
Hardly. My state's supreme court broadcasts their oral arguments & no one has complained about negative effects.
Count me as a person who wants more accessibility & transparency into the way government works, not less.
Probably November 7.
The supreme court has always kept camera’s out of the court, for the very reason of playing to the camera’s...but I think they allowed audio in Bush V Gore. I don’t think most justices on the SC want to celebrities.
"No one?" How can you know that? Spoken like a true bureaucrat.
I'll count you as a person who wants their fellow citizens to observe & understand government less, not more.
That’s two idiotic assumptions on your part. Care for a third, make it a trifecta of stupidity? You’re on a roll....
Well, Mr. Mensa - do you care to inform all us stupid folk how you feel about the issue and why? Or are you content to spend the rest of the afternoon clucking like a country hen?
Your state court machinations probably aren't a circus because they don't have impact on 300 plus million citizens (not to mention foreign interests).
If there were cameras in the SC there would be so much special interest money vying to get the upper hand in manipulating public pressure you would never have trust in the SC again. Live TV cameras would be stalking the justices night and day, their families would become national celebrities, etc. etc. etc.
Better to leave the circus out of what is considered one of the most sober of Gov't offices...and for good reason. Try to put the 24/7 cameras in the Oval Office instead.
Well if I were part of a small group (9) of political hacks who showed complete ignorance in the only document they are to consult I would not want that shown on TV either.
Think about it for a moment. Presidents and the party hacks have been telling us these are brilliant judicial minds yet then cannot do better than an endless string of 5-4 decisions using a very simple and SHORT document (compared to the 2000+ page legal hieroglyphs today’s inferior lawyers/lawmakers crank out) .
My wife who is in the Heath Care Industry (dentistry) was telling me last night that they can no longer give prescriptions longer than a set amount of time established by the Government. This amount of time is based on some sort of average recovery time.
So lets say a patient is prescribed a 10 days supply of Vicodin, the max number of days. If the patient is still in pain on day 11, 12, 13, - too bad, so sad. The office can no longer by law refill the prescription beyond that 10 days, even if the Doctor knows by expierience that some patients need it a little longer.
If we cannot see this first hand what makes anyone think we will ever be told the truth? The media has proved they will not do it. The internet is filled with lies/distortions/half truths and just downright science fiction so yeah I want to see this.
I want to see what hoops a communist government has to go through to convince at least 5 black robed political hacks to ignore the very narrow limits the constitution places on the federal government.
DAMN YES I want to see it.
Well put. It's a shame that some here choose less accountability and transparency over more. As if Justice Alito would become the next Snooki if televising or otherwise video recording of oral arguments happened.
IOWs the doctors are not practicing medicine anymore the government is. Doctors are simply medical technicians now.
