Budget analyst: Tax revenue less than Jerry Brown projects

Two days after Gov. Jerry Brown announced a compromise ballot measure to raise taxes, California's top budget analyst said today that the measure will generate $2.2 billion less next year than Brown has estimated.

The nonpartisan Legislative Analyst's Office estimated in its review of the measure that the tax increase would generate $6.8 billion in fiscal 2012-13. Brown had estimated raising some $9 billion.

The tax initiative, a compromise Wednesday between the Democratic governor and the California Federation of Teachers, would increase the state sales tax less than Brown originally proposed, but include a larger tax increase on California's highest earners.

Business is leaving “Can’taffordya” in droves, which is taking interstate revenue, and jobs with them. Which decreases revenue, which causes Democrats to raise taxes, which drives more business and jobs out, while the Rich can't get the hell out of there fast enough!

And the Democrats raise taxes to fix it..........the insane party goes on as usual without figuring it out.

The eastbound traffic from California is increasing. Note to Californians...Arizona is closed...we don’t want or need your liberal politics here. We have enough already in our university towns.

If I could find a job outside of California, I’d be out of here. In a flash.

Texas opened this California (born and raised) refugee with open arms. People here are friendly and open.

I have to admit to more than a little Schadenfreude as I watch California struggle in a trap of its own making. The more they squeeze, the bigger the problem will get.

The ones leaving are the ones you want: Conservatives that work hard.

I spent my youth in Idaho, my Grandmothers family has lived there since 1880, Gods country. Move to the banana belt around Boise enough liberals to keep you alert but there are enough conservitives to keep you sane.

It is indeed pretty up there....last summer was a first for us; we drove up thru SLC and into Idaho Falls via Pocatello; we’d have stopped in Pokey for our overnight if we hadn’t prebooked further north - very beautiful rolling hills.

I only gets better as you go North, as you know. I would have retired there but the Tax situation was not what I wanted. I live in Central NH so weather was not a factor.

I live in the Kalifornia desert, so weather is, bigtime.....all week it was in the mid 80's (perfecto), but last night the winds got roaring and the rain started pissing this morning and it's 59 outside this afternoon -- and I'm freezing my thin-blooded ass off.

Layer your clothing, after a couple of years you walk around in a Tee Shirt when it get above freezing.

Seriously, mine was a tax solution. NH has some very favorable laws and you don't want to give your savings to the gov when you croak. Neither Idaho or Wyoming have these advantages.
