Yesterday the Obama administration announced a delaying tactic which will put off the possibility of new offshore oil drilling on the Atlantic coast for at least five years:
The announcement by the Interior Department sets into motion what will be at least a five year environmental survey to determine whether and where oil production might occur.
Virginia Gov. Bob McDonnell notes that a planned lease sale, which the administration cancelled last year, will now be put off until at least 2018. As you might expect, Republicans were not impressed with the decision:
"The president's actions have closed an entire new area to drilling on his watch and cheats Virginians out of thousands of jobs," said Rep. Doc Hastings, R-Wash., who chairs the House Natural Resources Committee. The announcement "continues the president's election-year political ploy of giving speeches and talking about drilling after having spent the first three years in office blocking, delaying and driving up the cost of producing energy in America," he said.
Finally, given that this is the Obama administration, you won't be surprised to learn that oil and gas exploration is not the only aim of the survey:

The list, Ping
Let me know if you would like to be on or off the ping list
Higher gas prices, anyone?
Unless you’re Brazil, China, Russia, blah blah blah.. This dude is so intentionally weakening America to create the vulnerability he needs to throw his ‘National Socialist’ agenda in overdrive it’s not even funny. FUBO
How many studies do they need? This has been looked at for decades.
He should be impeached but we do not have a Congress anymore.
I thinks that Moochelle and the girls take air force one to the Bahamas for a vacation so they can fly over the area, take pictures and give us their scientific assessment.
Five years or 296 days depending how things break in November.
Does not give one tinker’s damn about the cost of gasoline, heating oil, or the grease to run a diminishing manufacturing base. It is about feelings, not substance. It is about control, not compassion. It is about oppression, simply. Nothing more.
This follows his recent trip to Oklahoma to ‘speed up’ the already approved southern point of the Keystone pipeline, which was probably the phoniest, most dishonest photo-op in the history of the US presidency.
Which means, "not while I'm president".
O is the master of this game. When he took office he announced he was opening the coasts up for oil development. Then, I suppose forgetting he already did it, a couple of months ago he announced again he was opening the coasts to drilling.
So, if you attack him as anti-oil, he can take credit for supposedly promoting development. But he never actually allows any permits to be issued. Or if the permit is issued, some other red tape makes sure it never happens.
Thats how he does business. What one hand gives, the other hand takes back. That way he can claim he is for and against the very same thing at the very same time.
And any oil production that manages to get past him, that he is thus far unable to stop, he just takes credit for it.
They may as well. Companies aren't going to pay much for concessions they won't be able to work.
Crazy, stupid, self-destructive, all the above?
Good thing Ubama promised Venezuela we’d be their “best customer” for the oil we paid them to drill.
” He should be impeached but we do not have a Congress anymore.”
We should impeach Congress!
