War On Words: NYC Dept. Of Education Wants 50 Forbidden Words Banned From Standardized Tests 'Dinosaur,' 'Birthday,' 'Halloween,' 'Poverty,' 'Divorce'
Among Those Suggested March 26, 2012 7:04 PM
The New York City Department of Education is waging a war on words of sorts, and is seeking to have words they deem upsetting removed from standardized tests.
Words that suggest wealth are excluded because they could make kids jealous. Poverty is also on the forbidden list. Thats something Sy Fliegal with the Center for Educational Innovation calls ridiculous
There are banned words currently in school districts nationwide. Walcott said New York Citys list is longer because its student body is so diverse.
Here is the complete list of words that could be banned:

Newspeak 2012................
What about “Liberal”, “Progressive” and “Democrat”?
“It’s a beautiful thing, the destruction of words.”...Syme, 1984..
Does banning the word make the problem go away?
It might to a liberal...
“words” are not inherently “bad”. This is thought control by other means.
1984 deja vu all over again.
George Orwell was truly prophetic. The control of language is an essential part of the totalitarian program to control people, to confiscate their earnings and to deny them personal freedom.
“What about Liberal, Progressive and Democrat?”
They got it covered. Those will be banned:
“Vermin (rats and roaches)”
“Witchcraft, sorcery, etc. “
How about;
1) Tax the rich
2) Occupiers
3) redistribution of wealth
4) Heather has two mommies
5) fair share
6) Muslim
7) condom

Bingo!

Satire. Got to be, right?
I’m not quite getting this. Many of these sound like topics, not words.
I bet the “f-word” isn’t one of them. The whole purpose of the First Amendment is to protect the “f-word” (according to liberals).
The New York School System wants to solve all of these problems by not teaching or talking about them?
If so, I recommend that they change their official seal to that of an Ostrich with its head in the sand!
I here by apologize to all Ostriches, past, present, and future for linking them to the New York School System.
