Argentine President Cristina Fernandez, who has insisted without success that Washington recognize its claim to the Falkland Islands controlled by Britain, was one of several presidents who left the summit well before its official closure.
She missed a verbal gaffe by Obama, who referred to the "Maldives" instead of the "Malvinas" when using the name Latin Americans give to the disputed islands.
Will Øbama ever learn anything?
Someone who knows everything cannot be taught anything.
Give 0bammy a break, man! It’s tough keeping track of all of our *57 states*, and the rest of the darned world, too!
If a Republican had done this, we’d never hear the end of how stupid they are from the MSM and their collection of idiot talking heads. But because it’s a Bamster SNAFU, nobody except FReepers will know about it.
So he supports Argentina’s claim now?
Maldives, offshore Kenya.
The MSM will report it.
Right after the coverage on the lack
of Obama’s BC and other normal documentation.
Had the faux pas been made by a conservative,
it would been covered 24/7,
followed by endless jokes on Leno, SNL, etc. etc.
I hope he learns what it is like to be an ex-president soon...and possibly how lonely a cell is in Leavenworth.

Aren’t the Maldives real near to the Malvinas?
/sarc
I keep looking for an Obama gaffe with “AP” as the source. Non-existent.
This was obviously not a gaffe but certainly a teleprompter error
Those things and places connected with Islam seem to roll off his lips so much more easily...
Obama is a geographical gaffe.
Arent the Maldives real near to the Malvinas?
You’re thinking of the Endives, a very common mistake! /s
Maybe he was talking about Mal Evans, deceased Beatles roadie?
Give 0bammy a break, man! Its tough keeping track of all of our *57 states*, and the rest of the darned world, too!
He’s much too intelligent to be bothered by details.
Besides, the teleprompter set him up.
No...they’re next door to the Marquesas.
Well, well, well, the Sexual Intellectual strikes again.
(F-ing Know-it-all)
Come on. It wasn’t like he misspelled a word at a 2nd grade spelling bee or anything.
You would have thought he was at an International Summit with his reputation on display or something.
Mr. Affirmative Action strikes again.
Do you know how hard it was to remember all the 'republics' that made up the USSR. And before that he had to remember all 57 Islamic ruled countries. Heck, by the time the poor boy got to Western Geography his teeny brain was mush and couldn't absorb one more thing.
[Then again, that mush could have resulted from all the dope he was smoking ;-)]

Maldives

He was close...cut him some slack....lol
Let's see: Newsweek deified him in 2008, and was declared the "smartest" president ever by historian Michael Beschloss.
It appears that those muslim Indonesian schools leave a lot to be desired, and affirmative action promotions from the Ivy League, do not instill knowledge and certainly not wisdom.
No, monsieur. Ill est tres malade et mal a la tete!
(He's very sick and crazy!)
I don’t think that Barry would know what a Malvina is if he tripped over it.
I don’t know why verbal gaffes are considered so newsworthy. Everyone has them. With all the pernicious acts of this administration, like intentionally driving up the price of energy and spending the country into oblivion, does it really matter if the president said, “Maldives” or “Malvinas?”
They install ignoramuses and criminals in our society.
0b0z0 IS both. This is one of the many reasons he's hiding his education records.
If they're ever released, 0b0z0 would be dismantled in a few days and a padded room could be his destination.
Or Arugula, another commonly misidentified nation.
Do the people on the Malvinas speak Maldivian?
Obama, who referred to the "Maldives" instead of the "Malvinas" when using the name Latin Americans give to the disputed islands (Falkland Islands).I just went to Google Earth and measured the distances between them. Barry just made a common mistake, that's all. The Falkland Islands, aka: Malvinas, and Maldive Islands are only 8,183 Miles apart.
See. Anyone could do it.
...............
[If this guy's IQ is above 70 I'll eat my Stetson. ]
Leni
Oui...or maybe it should be oy vey?
You guys JUST do not get it. You are trying to make a big deal out of something silly! What's really important is which of the islands would be a better vacation spot for MEEchelle...
Mais no, madame, oy...oy...oy is more appropriate.
Elle (0b0z0) est tres joli!
We don't have a BC to indicate male (God forbid) or female.
And I doubt Obama knows enough about anything to correct teleprompter errors. He just goes with them.
It mattered to Dan Quayle's end of political career over a potato(e)! Not to mention the incessant attacks on Bush's verbal gaffes, right?
The MSM protects the jug-eared One. As the saying goes: Payback is a b*!
![]()
Just sayin'...
Yes. Everyone makes them.
But this is newsworthy because the leftist demonRATS allege that Barry O'DUmmie's IQ is 180! Which is pretty friggen astounding considering that the person who came up with the Special and General Theories of Relativity and that E=mc2 thingy, Albert Einstein, 'only had' an IQ of 160. Add to that the factoid that Barry has never corrected, disavowed and/or disclaimed this 180 IQ bullshit his leftist comrades push.
He is 'the smartest person in the world', you know. Yet oddly, this man who is 12½% 'smarter' than Einstein cannot say 'Hello' without a teleprompter.
Plus, every conservative, republican, and even RINOs are labeled by the commie turds as knuckle dragging morons. So screw them -- time to set things straight and put on record.
It’s going to be so satisfying when some brave soul exposes the Obamaloon’s sorry academic record for what it really is.
We all know he’s a vapid dork (even dorkier than RINOmney), and that he got into all those schools through crooked associates and slimeball academics.
How are states 51 to 57 leaning in recent polls? A landside for Obama?
Viewed with a little sympathy, it easy to see that Obama was afflicted with a difficult childhood, given his parents. As an adolescent and young man, he apparently struggled to understand his place in the world, to establish an identity. It is understandable that he would turn inward and retreat into intellectual fantasies like socialism, and racial politics, it happens. Healthier intellects embrace and engage the world around them, his intellectual training and habits have built up barriers to sheild him from it.
One can have sympathy for a person so afflicted, but you would have to be out of your mind to want him to lead your country. He may be the most intellectually, philosophically, and experientially least qualified president in our nation's history. It could be worse.
“Barack Obama will say anything you put on that teleprompter....and when I say ‘anything’ I mean a-a-ny-thing”
Somebody really needs to hack the teleprompter. I have this vision of that scene from “Anchorman.”
I would bet Zero could repeat that scene till it lost its humor.
“Go —— yourself, America.”.
He probably intended to say "Malvinas" to stick it to the U.K. once again and it came out as "Maldives." "Maldives" is a gaffe of course but "Malvinas" would have been a diplomatic outrage. Either way, what an continuing embarrassment this petty little man is!
He went to Harvard and Columbia? Give me a break!
I know seventh graders who would not have made this mistake.
Also, you can be sure that cold, hard facts are incidental to a person whose intellect is such a product of emotion/entirely subject to emotion rather than substance.
