Hatred of Jews is the central animating feature of the political and strategic reality of the Middle East. It is hatred of Jews that dictates the legal regimes, foreign policies, military aspirations, cultural mores, educational themes and even public health policies of our neighbors from Ramallah to Teheran.

Despite the centrality of Jew hatred in all aspects of public life in the Arab and Muslim world, our neighbors' unrelenting and irrational abhorrence for Israel and the Jewish people remains a dirty secret that you aren't supposed to mention in polite company. From Washington to Brussels, talk of the policy implications of Arab and Muslim Jew hatred is prohibited.

Omar Abu-Sneina, a convicted terrorist murderer is one of the thousand Palestinian terrorists that Israel released from prison in order to secure the release of Israeli hostage IDF Sgt. Gilad Schalit. Originally from Hebron, Abu-Sneina was released to Hamas-controlled Gaza. This week the IDF announced that since his release Abu-Sneina has returned to the terror business. The Israel Security Agency intercepted a memory card he sent his family in Hebron with instructions for how his fellow terrorists should go about kidnapping and holding IDF soldiers hostage. The instructions demonstrate how for Abu-Sneina, Israelis don't even deserve to be treated like animals.

Right on the money, as usual! However, I can't help but wonder whether Caroline has read the Tannakh, especially the Nevi'im (prophetic books). This is the way it is supposed to happen, and this is the way it will happen.

Please, pray for Israel, for God's help in these days leading up to the Time of Jacob's Trouble. Pray for PM Netanyahu.

I agree, some Jews don't seem to be able to get over the Inquisition! The gethos, pogroms, Holocaust... had nothing to do with Christianity and much to do with sheer evil.

Has nothing to do with Jews in my opinion. If there were no Jews, does anyone really think there wouldn’t be a burning Muslim hatred for Christians that was every bit as rabid as Islam’s current hatred for Jews? And if there were no Christians, the same intense hatred would be directed at Hindus. Don’t look outside the Islamic heart to explain the the evil and the hatreds raging within.

Some of those were done in the name of Christianity, and Christians who opposed those policies were a bit thin on the ground, if they existed at all. It makes Jews a bit gunshy about trust.

It is in that jumble of ideologies that I call “Americanism” that we Jews have found a safe haven.

There is no branch of Christianity, other than Anabaptism, that does not have, somewhere in its history, some guilt of oppressing Jews - in places other than the United States of America. Why not America? Because even Christianity is different in America and a part of Americanism.

Sadly, very few of my people that I know consider the Muslims as an enemy.

Here is where we disagree. I am convinced that Islam's hatred towards Judaism and Christianity is satanic. Allah, moon god...? Just different manifestations of Satan. And Satan will do anything in his hand to attack God's people and to invalidate God's promises. But the Hindus are a different story, no good reason to hate them.

I've got to agree with LibWhacker. In Thailand Muslims kill Buddhists; in Iran they kill Jews, Christians, Zoroastrians, and Ba'hais; in Pakistan they kill Christians and Hindus; in [Muslim country] they kill [non-Muslim group]; when non-Muslims aren't available they kill each other. I sometimes suspect that Allah is actually Khorne of Warhammer 40,000 fame.
