Former Obama administration adviser Van Jones said the country should re-elect President Barack Obama to stop the tea party because former Massachusetts Gov. Mitt Romney would govern as a tea party president.
Jones also said that some of Obamas supporters misunderstood Obama as a social movement leader after his victory in the 2008 presidential race rather than as head of state. (RELATED: Full coverage of the tea party movement)
We have to win politically in November to stop the tea party. We dont want a tea party presidency, and I dont care what you think about Mitt Romney. If we wins, hell win because the tea party got excited enough that base got excited enough he will have to govern as a tea party president so we dont want a tea party president, Jones said Friday at The Center for American Progress during a discussion about his The New York Times bestseller Rebuild the Dream.
Youve got to build an independent progressive movement that can both help to re-elect the president, but it also can re-energize the movement because were going to have to be able to both have somebody in the White House who will listen to the people and who can be moved by the people but we also have to have a movement to do the moving. And the last time we came out of the voting booth cheering; this time weve to come out of the voting booth marching. I mean, weve got to be very clear. Weve got to pivot right into another big fight.
Jones said that there was a misunderstanding among Obamas supporters when he assumed office.
There was a center for gravity that said Obama is MLK [Martin Luther King, Jr.] who ran for office and now

Man ! The Tea Party is really in their heads and under their skin.. we’re doing something right !!!!
March On ..
The guy is delusional...
Ho, Ho, Ho, Green Jobs Czar. (Iloved that Glenn Beck bit)
Good luck with that ... Van. You ain’t seen nothin’ yet.
Van Jones, Rev. Wright, Rev. Sharpton and Rev. Jackson should go along with Obama to each of his campaign stops if only Obama wasn’t fearful they’d hurt his chances for reelection..... just saying!
If 0bama didn't get rid of the Tea Party in four years, keep giving him 4 more years until they are gone.
Way to empower the TEA Party!
FUVJ and your Commie brother in the WH!
I know Jesus said not to hate...but dangit if I have trouble not hating this traitors to America.
You know if this idiot is so into Communism/ Socialism, NOBODY is stopping him from emptying his bank acount, walking into the middle of the street and throwing all his cash into the air. I mean WTF is the difference? Go ahead Van! Do it up! Walk the talk!
They believe the country hates the TParty as much as they do. Are they in for a surprise.
Pray for America
The Dems are so used to astroturfing and rent a mob that they can’t believe the Tea Party can turn people out based on beliefs and values. They fear the Tea Party because it represents a real threat politically, which is why they demonize the TP at every opportunity.
Not only is he a thug, he’s a moron.
Don’t forget though: Jesus resisted the temptation of the Devil. Resistance is not hate. “We must resist him in all things and with all prayer” (1 Peter 5:9). “When we so resist, he will flee from us, because he is truly a coward” (James 4:7).
We have to “stop the Tea Party” to see what they are about. (think Pelosi)
To all who voted for Odumbo because he was black can those of us who did not vote for him because he was a Marxist point out his selection of other black officials have not resulted in a very stellar set of accomplishments?
The same can be said for numerous large cities headed by Holder’s people. They certainly are not hot beds of growth (unless you count crime statistics).
So if it is ok to vote for someone because he is black maybe others can vote against someone because of the failures of blacks. Odumbo is always spouting off about fair and I think this is fair.
Psssssst. I voted for Alan Keyes twice and would have gladly voted for Cain. I think Alan and Herman were on the right side of the black bell curve and they seem to be quite rare.
