Virgil Goode

If elected? Yeah right. Chuck Baldwin garnered a whopping 199K votes in '08 running in the Constitution Party. 130 million people voted that year.
The CP is aligned ideologically with Ron Paul.
Is Goode as well?
Does he want to defund Israel?
I hope Freepers keep the Constitution Party threads popping. I have not committed to them as my new party yet but they’re number one on my list. Conservatives are better in the future to make allies with Republicans when we can, but as members of a different party.
Another question, a practical one: How do they intend to get on the ballot in California? Last time I checked the CP had about three hundred registered voters there.
I suspect.
the last time i checked you can send Israel a check...what I would like to see is the fed government quit PAYING Israel’s enemies...dont fret about Israel the big guy upstairs got their back they wont need us. we just dont need to be on the wrong side lol
Clymer... Is this a joke? This guy doesn’t have a chance in hell.
If you think it’s just about a check, you’re mistaken.
Virgil is a GOODE man. Conservatives have a choice for President now instead of two leftist liar megalomanical sociopaths in Willard & Zero.
Virgil gets my vote....assuming Newt will not be the GOP nominee.
Nope, he’s a good Conservative. Unlike RP, he doesn’t kiss the asses of those who hate us (Mohammadans).
What cuts would Virgil Goode make in the Defense Dept? I lived in his district in Virginia when I was precinct chair..he was a democrat and switched to independent. The county chair..Sarah Terry worked for him for quite some time after she left the gop chair.
He switched around the time that George Allen won the governorship and Ollie ran but lost for senate.
Unless I have complete details on the cuts Goode wants to make on our defense dept..I can’t comment. Is he going to cut veterans benefits? or do you know?
Somebody needs to raise holy hell on the floor of the GOP convention to stop this impending abomination. It is unimaginable that the party is so pig ignorant stupid as to nominate someone so viscerally antithetical to base voters as Willard. They might as well run Hillary, at least she’d be more honest about her real leftist convictions (unlike Willard, who merely lies about his Socialism). But if the GOP Establishment prefers to play the role of “Stupid”, we Conservatives will go our own way for the top of the ticket. Enough is enough.
i dont know...sounds like some of you want newt, like that is better than romney
Ya think old Virgel has a chance do ya?
Actually, I want WI Gov. Scott Walker.
Don’t know.

From Wikipedia:
Goode grew up as a Democrat.[5] He entered politics soon after graduating from law school. At the age of 27 he won a special election to the state Senate from a Southside district as an independent after the death of the Democratic incumbent. One of his major campaign focuses at the time was advocacy for the Equal Rights Amendment.[6] Soon after being elected, he joined the Democrats.
Goode wore his party ties very loosely. He became famous for his support of the tobacco industry, where he spoke about his fear that “his elderly mother would be denied ‘the one last pleasure’ of smoking a cigarette on her hospital deathbed.”[6] He was an ardent defender of gun rights while being an enthusiastic supporter of L. Douglas Wilder, who would become the first elected black governor in the history of the United States. At the Democratic Party’s political convention, it was Goode who nominated Wilder for lieutenant governor in 1985. However, while governor, Wilder cracked down on the sale of guns in the state.[6]
Goode served on the Liberty Caucus (sometimes called the Liberty Committee), a group of libertarian-leaning congressional representatives.[25] Congressman Ron Paul hosts a luncheon for the Liberty Caucus every Thursday. Other members include Jimmy Duncan of Tennessee, Walter B. Jones of North Carolina, Roscoe Bartlett of Maryland, Scott Garrett of New Jersey, Zach Wamp of Tennessee and Jeff Flake of Arizona.[26] In the 2008 Republican primary elections for President, the Federal Election Commission reported that Goode donated $500 to Republican candidate Ron Paul.[27]
He’s no different that those who support romney. A dime a dozen.
Newt is the only conservative and with a record on what he has DONE for America. A true patriot and anyone opposing him is opposing America.
Are you always this dumb? And you showed the last thing you are is a Patriot.
precisely
not really.....
Good choice! I`ll be doing the same.
I`ll take his issue stances over Obamney`s any day.
California`s hardly a worthwhile benchmark for any political comparisons. It`s a lost cause to any party except the dems. So that`s a non-player at this point.
If mitt is the nominee... I will write in Palin’s name. At least I will be voting for the best candidate.
LLS
Vote your conscience, whether a candidate has a chance makes it a horse race and seems to denigrates the purpose. That is my humble opinion.
Goode thanked the other candidates for their efforts. Sounds like the USCP handled its primary season in an adult manner. Would that the GOP had done the same.
Well, there`s one major, glaring difference between Goode and Gingrich: Only one of the two is the nominee of his respective party.
There. Fixed.
Haha...
not going to find fault in that right now..I hope he can turn that place around
And we all know what happens when the conservative vote is split...
;-(
For the conservative vote to split...there would have to be two conservatives in the race.
Well, personally, I refuse to write off our largest state, and its millions of decent, patriotic, conservative citizens.
I also refuse to write off other large parts of the electorate that the Republicans have been writing off for decades.
The VOTE is made by VOTERS. It is the VOTERS who are responsible for what happens.
A third party option is not viably realistic in this election. I would like it if conservative principles guided the present GOP much more. Perhaps this will eventually take place as we get even more involved from the grass roots up.
At present, I simply want Obama defeated because he is that dangerous to the survival of this nation!
Overall, we need even MORE Americans repenting and praying for this nation.
“Men have forgotten God; thats why all this has happened.” ...Alexander Solzhenitsyn
My point is...neither Obama or Romney are conservatives. There is no conservative split. Most principled conservatives despise both of them.
Conservatives’ only option is 3rd party (assuming Newt can’t pull something off at the last minute)....if you vote based upon principles rather than political convenience.
Well, of course I’d never advocate the remaining decent, patriotic, conservative citizes in CA, but there’s no way that state — barring a split — will go anything other than democrat.
Having been born and raised in CA, and departed there when I joined the Air Force in 1976, I salute you for trying to make a go of life in that state. It’s a taxing and regulatory nightmare out there.
I am a principled conservative. I don’t like Romney as the candidate.
However, I am not stupid and I realize the unprecedented danger of an Obama 2nd term. My vote in such a case would definitely NOT be one of “convenience.” I would be working against Obama IF I did so (am still waiting to see what happens at the convention).
I will vote firmly based upon my principles and resent being told that those principles are not conservative if I vote for the non-Obama candidate..
At this point, I believe with my whole heart that a 3rd party does nothing but ensure an Obama victory....and I believe that history supports my opinion. It would seem that we disagree.
A third-party option is the ONLY tool available to drive home to the GOP-e, we conservatives aren't going to dance to their tune yet again. We're told every election cycle, "you MUST support us, because.. gosh.. look at that awful alternative."
Well... this year, the GOP's nominee and the guy sitting in the WH at present really aren't all that different. And if Romney is the nominee, Obama isn't going to be defeated anyway, no matter how dangerous he is to the survival of the nation. Obama's kicking Romney's ass in most swing states and he hasn't even started the smear engines yet.
Besides... if we don't agree with Romney and view him as every bit the statist power-grabber that Obama is... why again should we give that POS our vote? As for the Republicans... like any entrenched, jurassic power structure, the GOP-e must be forced to look reality in the face.. and that reality is many conservatives have had estabs' sh*t up to their eyebrows and aren't taking on any more.
And the sad part is... it didn't have to be this way.
Thanks, but I don’t live in California. I simply refuse to write it off.
The CP is into cutting defense and stopping Obama’s senseless wars and support of radicals in the middle east, but likewise were against Iraq on the grounds of using money that should have been used for domestic initiatives. But I should add that they are more conservative than the GOP without any Libertarian social baggage.
Sure they probably won’t win the November election for president. But I am not voting for Romney so the CP and Virgil Goode are the best option unless somebody else runs or we get a real tea party party.
Frankly, I don’t think the Constitution Party is aligned with Ron Paul because Paul is all over the map. And Paul is for the libertarian party which will nominate his “fake” GOP buddy Gary Johnson who dropped out of the race last fall because the GOP would not put him into debates more than 2 times.
Goode is one of those who up close the destruction of America by being in both political parties and left them.
