Voice of the Martyrs' Tom White's Death an Apparent Suicide Following Molestation Investigation Leader of prominent persecution ministry was being investigated by police on allegations of molesting a young girl. Jeremy Weber | posted 4/20/2012 06:17PM

This week's death of a prominent persecution ministry leader is now being described as a possible suicide in the wake of a molestation investigation by local police. Tom White, executive director of The Voice of the Martyrs (VOM), was found dead Wednesday morning in a warehouse at the ministry's headquarters in Bartlesville, Oklahoma, according to Tulsa CBS affiliate News on 6. Court records indicate that Bartlesville police were investigating a molestation allegation against White, according to News on ...... Allegations were made to authorities this week that Tom had inappropriate contact with a young girl. Rather than face those allegations, and all of the resulting fallout for his family and this ministry and himself, Tom appears to have chosen to take his own life. None of those in leadership at VOM, including our board of directors, were aware of these allegations at the time of Tom's death. There is no doubt that Tom cared about his wife, his children and his grandchildren. And there's no doubt that he cared about VOM. We are deeply saddened by these events. Our hearts are broken. ......... White, 65, rose to prominence in persecution circles after releasing a 1982 memoir detailing his 17 months spent in a Cuban prison. He led VOM to solid growth over the past 20 years. "He admired persecuted believers who endured hardship and possessed an eternal perspective about their faith," Gary Lane, a former spokesperson for VOM now at CBN wrote this week. "Tom worked tirelessly to share their experiences with the world. He truly was a voice of the martyrs."

Good summary. It’s a reminder to all of us to “be sober and watchful.”

Sorry for the delay:

I Cor 3:15

“If any man’s work shall be burned, he shall suffer loss: but he himself shall be saved; yet so as by fire.”

I think making that kind of comment anywhere about someone’s demise is appalling...snarky??? That is mildly put. I find it offensive, rude, and disgusting. So whoever thinks it is appropriate can take their biases and run away

You're confusing God's role with mans... On this earth we judge people who commit crimes. If this man has harmed an innocent child for his own sexual satisfaction, he is judged evil in this country. In Saudia Arabia he might 'get away' with it.

God will make his own call on this man - not me. Not you. But as a citizen of this country at this time, I know my call ...

Well, I guess we can dump the criminal justice system and throw open the prison doors... since we're all sinners - in YOUR BOOK - that means ‘anything goes Any crime - no matter how violent or base MUST be overlooked because we're not perfect? Can't throw that first stone, right?

That's so silly.

I think you're missing some important ethics here - or you've been listening to liberals interpret the Bible for too long.

I agree. When I think ‘young’, I’m thinking under 11. If by ‘young’ they mean ‘brazen teenager’ that becomes a different story. We’ll have to wait and see.

"Forgiving" a person - is NOT the same as forgiving the crime.

If a man in a weakened state holds up a bank and wounds a teller - he can be 'forgiven' - but he still faces charges right here on this earth. It doesn't mean he doesn't go to court and to jail. We render unto Caesar...

Forgiveness is a spiritual choice - it's a gift God gives us to give to others. It has NOTHING whatsoever to do with a country's system of laws.

Believing in Jesus does NOT allow a person to have a 'pass' to be a criminal.

Some people have 'forgiven' Charles Manson. That doesn't mean he should be released from prison. I see I'm saying the same think in different ways ... is this making sense to you?

Of course since the man in question was married, my comment did not really pertain to him, now did it? Instead I made a point about how foolish it is to blame a person’s choice to engage in sin on anyone but the person himself, which point is neither appalling nor snarky. I can see you might wish to argue that it is a point that you wish were made elsewhere, but the point made does nothing to denigrate him nor his religious community whatsoever. Why does it bother you?

We are very close to the end of all things. Satan is stepping up his attacks. We must be on guard, surrounded by prayer and praying for others. I feel so sorry for VOM and for Tom White’s family. Pray for those in authority (1Timothy 2:1-2).

For the time has come for judgment, and it must begin with God’s household.
And if judgment begins with us, what terrible fate awaits those
who have never obeyed God’s Good News? 1 Peter 4:17 NLT

I have no problem with this man or any other man being judged for his crimes. If I were on a jury, I would vote to hang him for molesting a child.

My point was not really about him. You can read the words yourself.

Perhaps that’s what Judas and Luther used to think.

No; I didn’t say any of that.

Just to be clear, I was commenting on your judgmental attitude.

Have a good day.

I’m sure Tom White knew how to ‘act humble’ — if he didn’t he wouldn’t have been able to get as far as he did... Only God knows the truth of our hearts... I’m happy and comfortable within God’s love....

A man is desperate enough to kill himself and your response is a snarky comment... enough said. It tells me everything I need to know about you

Amen! It so sad!! Let's Pray!! Amen!!

What you wrote is exactly what I thought. The enemy is stepping up the attack. I read Christianity is growing in the areas where this ministry goes. I firmly believe in this ministry.

Thank you!

A married protestant minister accused of child molestation kills himself
and your main concern

is that
I very effectively made
an important related point

without denigrating
the dead man in any way.

your point ( and it was shallow and meaningless and way for say you as a catholic to bang on against those terrible protestants) was to rub someone else’s nose in the stink left by all those of any faith who commit sins of an awful nature. How noble of you. How wonderful of you.

I know to you it really stinks that I reminded people of mean and nasty anti-Catholic comments frequently made at FR.
