The entire higher altitude of the island are covered with Ohia and while they are easy to find, they're sure hard to dig out. They are able to grow in lava flows, one of the first plants other than lichens and ferns.



My son's customer sure picked an oddly common choice.....one that's going to be a task to dig out.
