Ruling on health care law may affect Medicare [BO Tries to Intimidate SCOTUS]
Boston Globe ^ | 5/4/12 | Ricardo Alonso-Zaldivar

... In papers filed with the Supreme Court, administration lawyers have warned of “extraordinary disruption’’ if Medicare is forced to unwind countless transactions that are based on payment changes required by more than 20 separate sections of the Affordable Care Act.

Opponents say the whole law must go. The administration counters that even if it strikes down the insurance mandate, the court should preserve most of the rest of the legislation. That would leave in place its changes to Medicare as well as a major expansion of Medicaid coverage.

The law should never have been implemented until appeals were resolved. Just another example of the sleaze in the executive branch.

I hope a 6-3 or 7-2 SCOTUS majority tells these thugs to pound sand.

It's not the SCOTUS’s job to worry about consequences of striking bad law when it's unconstitutional. The Rat controlled congress at that time should have never passed the law in the first place.

The BEST outcome would be when SCOTUS takes the opportunity to Rule that ONLY U.S. Citizens are included in ALL Laws that provide BENEFITS from Taxpayer dollars, IN ALL CASES.

Obamacare being struck down is a perfect opportunity, to tell the Progressives that give-aways for votes from NON-CITIZENS is NOT part of the U.S. Constitution.

However, this would also be applied to Anchor Babies, which will never happen since SCOTUS wrongly allowed that bullshit to occur.

I know part of ObamaCare’s funding was to come from cuts to MediCare; basically it was stealing from American senior citizens to provide healthcare to illegal aliens.

I don’t know why there wasn’t more of an uproar from the seniors when this was openly reported by Obama’s media.

This is exactly the game of Chicken that the administration always counted on going their way. Running Medicare is Obama's job. He knew the law was going to court so if he was so damned concerned with avoiding this outcome he would have administered the program properly in the first place.

This letter to SCOTUS is the government equivalent of writing your parents a letter from school asking for more money because you spent this semester's tuition on hookers and blow.

If Obamacare is implemented there will be a disruption to Medicare alright. If you are over 65 and poor you will be transferred to Medicaid. Now try and get a doctor to see you. The reimbursement rate to Medicaid is so low there are practically no doctors that will take Medicaid patients. Millions of people will be taken from Medicare and placed in Medicaid which will be a slow death sentence for many. Obama won’t tell you this though. He’s the biggest scam to ever hit America.

Ahhh....I love the smell of desperation in the morning.

Since when does the Government file a motion pertaining to a SCOTUS decision that is already being written? Never in my memory.

Congress will have to actually do some work setting pririties and writing laws.

They must not allow HHS to handle it through more regulations or 0bammy’s appointee (sebullus?) will continue the socialist agenda

IMHO

The White House likely got a leak of the SCOTUS decision from Justice Kagan and knows the court will strike down the law. Now its trying to do damage control and laying blame on the court for taking away your health care and ruining Medicare. It’s the same blame game the Obama White House has as the theme of the 2012 reelection campaign ...Obama tried to create a perfect world but others have stymied his efforts.

I would think overturning Obamacare would help Medicare since the $ 500,000,000.00 in cuts to fund Obamacare would not be necessary.

Some interesting things happened to Medicare already this year. Doctors received an adjustment for services previously paid to them for January - March 2010. One of my mental health doctor clients got a whole bunch of checks - each for $0.71. This had to cost taxpayers a LOT of money to do all of this. We had patients calling wanting their share of the “doctor’s windfall” and had a fit because they didn’t get a check for $0.36.

Then we did have a reduction in allowed rates for 1st quarter this year. Some information I have received indicates that there is another 35% reduction in allowed rates due to occur soon unless Congress does the “doctor fix” again. At this point in time it’s called hide and watch.

I just hope that all those seniors who have Medicare replacement plans they are so thrilled with understand those will end soon and they will be back on standard Medicare, even if Obamacare were allowed to stand. More of our patients who have managed care plans instead of standard Medicaid for mental health benefits are having their managed care plans changed and are being kicked back to standard Medicaid - but most up to 8 months after they were originally seen. It’s a real nightmare in doctor’s offices now - no wonder they are opting out.

I don’t know why there wasn’t more of an uproar from the seniors when this was openly reported by Obama’s media.

There was, this was a big part of senior opposition to Obama-care in 2010 and seniors voting Republican that year to boot Dems out.

But it 2011 Republicans neutralized that advantage they had on the issue with the Ryan plan on medicare, which was for deficit reduction with some tax cuts.

One thing that pisses me off to no end is when both parties claim that the medicare ‘trust fund’ will keep medicare fully finded for another 5 to 10 years, when the ‘trust fund’ is simply IOUs from the government to itself which are only redeemed by floating more national debt US treasuries.

In other words medicare went broke during GWB term and SS broke at the start of 2009.

The reason why they lie about the nonexistent trust funds is so they can avoid confronting angry seniors on election day and claim that no-one is effected by reforms.

Today's seniors no more deserve today's medicare benefits than anyone forced to pay medicare taxes now and in the future (to go to those benefits now) do. The ponzi nature of the system doesnt change the morality of it.

It's theft!

I might be wrong, but isn’t it illegal to try and influence a sitting judge or in this case influence 9 sitting judges?
