Obama Warns Supremes: Don't Overturn Healthcare Reform
Big Government ^ | May 4, 2012 | Ben Shapiro

The Obama administration warned the Supreme Court this week via papers filed with the Court that if Obamacare is struck down, there will be an “extraordinary disruption” in Medicare.

Medicare was not discussed during the Supreme Court arguments, since it was not a Constitutional issue.

This is a practical argument, not a legal one; it’s the Obama administration applying pressure to the Supremes. But that’s what the Obama administration does – they focus on the politics of the situation rather than on the legalities.

If they can’t win on the law, they figure, they’ll push the Court to act via “empathy,” President Obama’s favorite legal standard.

And if they lose, they’ll blame the Court for destroying Medicare. It’s a win-win for the Obama administration: if the Court strikes down Obamacare, Obama will blame the Court for harming Medicare. If the Court upholds Obamacare to prevent an “extraordinary disruption” in Medicare, Obama gets what he wants.

Do they have something new?

Don't be silly, they have everything. They are either the most stupid people on earth, or they are knowingly allowing this to happen. Personally I tend to believe we have serious Progressivism disease in the GOPe.

Looks like SCOTUS is coming down to the line , striking this abomination of a law, designed to have government control all aspects of ones life.

Obama has his little spie Scotus appointees who feed him backchannel news. And these warnings are public preparatories for presidential refusal to abide the courts ruling( Meme: who elected the Supreme Court, the electorate passed the bill).

There will be no constitutional crisis because there will be no constitution. Obama may be the first president taken by arrest, into custody by a military coupe. I would applaud that fact if he goes against the Supreme Court.

Obama sees this confrontation between himself and the court as a way to win his election by creating a crisis so his dismal record is ignored. He will convert the electorate into emotional rioters and anti-rioters, who cannot think with any logic. When logic exits the issue, there will be no Republic because we will no longer have a logical, informed electorate.

Someone simply should jail this psychopomp now and get it over with the least amount of blood shed, in order to save and preserve the Constitution. A president even talking this way to SCOTUS shows one how fascists such as Obama rail against our institutions of freedom util they are destroyed. IS THE NATION BLIND?????

The veiled physical threats are obvious,Obama the bully is in town, and the Justices of the Supreme Court have almost no security in their homes, or at their offices. Will they stand? Obama has been talking at SCOTUS for years now , as if they are subject to his beck and call.I would like nothing better than to see Scalia place Obama under arrest
via contempt order. Maybe Sherrif Joe’s deputies need to be invited for an extended stay in Washington, pursuant to SCOTUS order.

WHY DOES THE MEDIA ACCEPT OBAMA’S ATTEMPT AT UNDUE INFLUENCE?

Good Read:

I cannot remember where I read it, but there was a report that an increasing number of Americans are taking care of their elderly parents in their own homes or adding apartments to their homes.

*** Can the Supremes haul someone into the Court for contempt? I would really like to see that. ***

No.

Only people in the court room who are supposed to be there can be held in contempt if they get out of line. In SCOTUS that means just the Lawyers arguing before it or anyone sitting in the court room like reporters, the sketch artist, or a party in the case - but they don't testify, just sit and listen.

And since SCOTUS is an Appellate Court, not a Trial court, no witnesses are involved who would give testimony as that's already been done in a lower court.

If that prick thinks he can intimidate the Supremes, he has another think coming. I suspect he is pissing off some of the leftists on the court. Not Kagen, since she is connected a la Lewinsky. But the others still believe in the separation of the 3 branches.

This guy IS Hitler.

Nope just a wannabe.

I'm sure he'll really shine during a second term though.
After all, he's spent his lifetime preparing.

Just wish they’d go ahead and DO it already.

I get tired of waiting for “our” side to push back...it gets tiresome as hell.

No, I don’t think so.

If there is one thing that judges, from municipal magistrates to SCOTUS justices, absolutely despise it is elected officials from legislative and executive branches *telling* them how to decide a case.

My observation of judges/justices/etc is that when someone does this, the black robe mafia dig in their heels and start seething when they write up the opinion(s).

If Obama had actually practice law instead of having been a poseur on the subject, he would know that this tactic has a high rate of backfiring - spectacularly.

Someone should make a poster cartoon of Obama holding the Elderly hostilities with the gun of Medicare to impose his way.

“I cannot remember where I read it, but there was a report that an increasing number of Americans are taking care of their elderly parents in their own homes or adding apartments to their homes.”

I’m sure economics play a large role in that (while the elderly abuse stories don’t help). The same way young people are remaining in the nest out of necessity, we’ll see elderly parents moving in with their children; rather than have them provided with long-term care facilities, it would be much cheaper to have visiting nurses and the like tend to them.

Here in NJ it is very difficult for retirees to keep a home; while the state will freeze their property taxes, they are often already so high it doesn’t help much ($6K and up). Right off the bat they have to come up with at least $500 per month for property taxes.
