Ted Nugent always stops by radio station KFYI here in Phoenix when he's in town, and we have the privilege of listening to this great American. Today he was on the Mike Broomhead show prior to his concert in Phoenix tonight. Among other topics, Mike asked him to explain why he endorsed Mitt Romney. Here's his answer (6 minutes 10 seconds):

He’s a reglr guy
“if the 30 the old Nugent showed up tonight I’d kick his ass” LOL
Why cant we elect this guy?
“the curse of apathy is worse than the administration”
I will say, without a doubt, that Ted Nugent is the best guitar player America has ever produced. His politics is also right up there with the best.
Here is Uncle Ted’s Stranglehold (From “Motor City Mayhem”):

Enjoy!
There was a time when I sat beside Shemane Nugent at a Freeper rally and things rocked.
True Blackman and Kristinn kicked ass
Fire Fighter for Freedom gave himself a saline IV while it was 104 to keep rollin on
Because he hunts with a bow and doesn't need a gun?
C'mon Ted. He's a Red! An albinobamma!
That doesn’t mean he can’t be overly optimistic about any particular politician.
If he’s not the best, he’s certainly right up there. I told him to his face once, during a book signing, that as a guitar slinger of several decades I had ripped off every hook he ever recorded. He liked that. :) Was one hell of a nice guy, by the way.....sent everyone off with a “God bless you” as they walked away with their signed books. NOT the rock wild man you see on stage; a down-to-earth, genuinely nice guy.
I’d love to jam some heavy electric blues with Ted some day; blow the roof off of some joint.
I really like Ted.
RINOmney, however, is still a vapid dork who will change directions faster than an atom in Brownian motion.
RINOmney, the human weathervane.
Great interview.
Oh Alright, Fine
Romney 2012
not by a longshot, and I hope he would agree. The best politician/guitarist, maybe.
now then, he's still performing? How old is he?
I was too young to get in then, but I remember the sign being there for years; "Ted Nugent and the Amboy Dukes."
Leaded regular, if you get my drift.
I was 5 years to young to go see Ted Nugent and the Amboy Dukes play at Riverside High school in Windsor Ont. Remember when he used to guest host at WWWW 106.7 out of Detroit for his fiance who was a DJ so she could do the things necessary for thier wedding.
I'd agree that he's not "the best guitarist ever".
Different eras and different types of music but Jimmy Hendricks comes to mind, along with Chet Adkins. Have you heard Chet Adkins' classical guitar playing?
Nugent's politics are a different matter, while I agree with him mostly, his "endorsement of Romney" means as much to me as anybody elses, which is to say, none at all.
Speaking of different eras, Neil Sedaka still has that voice and is about to celebrate his 50th wedding anniversary.
Speaking to that era and good singers,i had the pleasure of seeing Burton Cummings and the Guess Who 3 times at the St.Clair College outdoor amphiteater in Windsor, what a voice.
I'm pretty sure that even Ted (and every other professional guitarist) would argue with you about that.
Hendrix was a far more gifted electric guitarist. His equal has never been seen.
I like Ted, but I don’t trust Romney. You measure a man by his actions, and not by his words.
Might as well reelect Clinton. Probably still slightly better than Zero.
That's good. Another one I saw was
"Romney -- it's time to settle"
The Guess Who were amazing. Randy Bachman is a huge guitarist. But I think Burton Cummings was better before he was Burton Cummings.
Not selling him short, btw — I think he’s an excellent player. Just not the greatest.
