Obama: "Sailors and Soldiers are Out There Fighting on My Behalf" (HIS behalf?!)
Fox News Channel (no link) | 5/8/12

Posted on 05/09/2012 2:04:48 PM PDT by pabianice

This is the ultimate in narcissism. Obama, commenting upon his sudden public approval of gay marriage, was just shown stating that he couldn't stand the idea of soldiers and sailors out there fighting on HIS behalf when they were not free to be in gay relationships.

Forget the gay marriage issue. Our military is fighting on HIS behalf?

It’s suspicious. I can’t imagine any conservative freeper I am familiar with saying that. It’s a disgustingly narcissistic statement for Zero to have made. It’s fair game for slamming him.

He’s evil and extremely dangerous. I think we’ll see a nasty show down.

If it's such an innocuous comment, surely other presidents have said it. After all, there have been a lot of them and only one Obama. Can you or the OP find an example of any other POTUS saying the military is fighting for them, in the same way Obama said it?

Obama is quoted as having said, while still in Indonesia, that he would be president, and would have the army protecting him personally. It's not a new thought w him. Otoh, if his comment is just regular presidential talk [as opposed to Malignant Narcissism in overdrive] then surely other POTUSs have said the same or very similar. I would be extremely interested in reading their quotes; thank you in advance.

“This is why, for years and years, I have said that all high level elected officials should have to undergo a thorough psychiatric test before being having their name on a ballot.”

Down through the decades, I’ve seen news commentators apologizing during election campaigns for the usual silliness that goes on with campaign rhetoric, etc. In the final analysis, they contended that the saving grace of all this apparent political nonsense was that our political process made it impossible for a fool or a nut-case from becoming President.

Our problem now is that many of the old assumptions no longer hold. The American masses no longer have the common sense wisdom derived from responsibilities such as raising a family and acquiring a productive trade. Now we look more like Rome in its decline when the populace were in love with their crazy, depraved Emperors.

People with a paucity of useful skills or knowledge have been sold the idea that they were being victimized by an uncaring society. Working women demand the “right” of free contraceptives and instant free abortions to rectify the consequences of recreational sex, courtesy the taxpayer. Gay men have demanded, and attained, the right to openly express their sexuality in the armed forces in spite of long past experience that this has a devastating effect on morale. A black op-ed columnist recently wrote that George Zimmerman should volunteer to spend 8 to 10 years in prison to dissuade racial violence.

Such “victimized” groups, who in aggregate may actually form a majority of the population, have fallen for the romantic notion of the mysterious stranger who has come to save them from the miserliness of the few who just want to be left alone. They voted for someone whose past is virtually nonexistent, who promised during his campaign for president to “fundamentally transform” this country, and whose associations provide a certainty that he has always been a leftist radical. And after a disastrous first term, he has at least even chance of being elected to a second term in which is he will be virtually unaccountable for his actions. We’ve gone from common sense to irresponsibility on steroids.

I'd still like Madison to provide an example...or the OP could do it just as well. I've never heard any president say anything like what Obama said. It sounds weird and Narcissist because it IS weird and Narcissist. However, I'd change my mind at least to a degree if either of the two posters in question could provide a few, or really even one, example of another POTUS using the same language.

I've never seen people go so far out of their way to explain and excuse the creepy things a POTUS does and says as they do for this one. It's very strange. At some point you'd think people would get tired of cleaning up Obama’s messes, verbal and otherwise. So far, that point has not come.

The noob’s posting history is clear, as posting histories usually are. I also don’t understand anyone supporting said noob. Weird. There is nothing - not one dang thing - that Zero has ever said, every done, or could ever say, or do, that is praiseworthy, benign, or even neutral. He is 100% evil.

It is just like when Obama had the troops give HIM a shoutout. I have never seen a POTUS do that.

The whole exchange was pretty bizarre. Obama’s statement was singularly creepy, even for him—and that's saying something. You wouldn't expect to see a remark like that defended on a conservative site, if anywhere. [I'm giving moonbats too much credit, I know. But do even they believe the military is fighting on Obama’s behalf? I mean, really believe that, and believe that's as it should be?]

Then to have the cavalry ride to the rescue of the OP—very odd/awkward. As in, if the OP’s explanation holds water, then provide examples [from other presidents]. If no examples exist then the OP’s explanation is BS. That's not too hard a concept to grasp, you would think. Strange days indeed.

I agree with all your observations. Now, where do we go from here? Can it get better? Will we learn from the past or are we doomed, as the Romans and all civilizations were that embraced immoral, ungodly, disrespectful and undisciplined behavior?

Obama turned the American Dream into a nightmare...but he only epitomizes the problems that have been brewing in this country for years. Because of the continual focus on self-gratification, sex, envy, pride, and greed which has been promoted by the Liberals millions of Americans have lost sight of the values and morals that led to our great success as a country.

Sorry - have to disagree with you...
this is an incident where he showed us what is behind the curtain...
he thinks that it is ALL about him - the fawning press, the I’ll go around congress, Justice enforcing only what they want, the family vaycays at our expense, the celeb shows at the white house...a pattern you CANNOT deny...

Good post...
after it was aired tonight on Fox (Bret Baier’s show), Baier asked Krauthammer about it and ole Charles rose to the challenge...
he asked if Ike would’ve said the troops stormed Normandy on his behalf,,,really nailed it.

the first gay superpower since Sparta

Did you not see The 300 or actually read Greek history?

The Spartans were not homosexuals. The Athenians on the other hand....

There was even a line where Leonidas said (speaking of the Athenians) "And if those philosophers and boy-lovers have found that kind of nerve, then..."

‘_______ever end up with a megalomanic lunatic in the WH?’

Dunno for sure.

Every few months after 9-11, for whatever reason, I would wonder when it would EVer be possible for a person with a Muslim background to run for/become president of the USA.
With a snicker, I would think: NEVER!
And then came 2008.

And I did hear ‘some guy’s’ resounding keynote speech, - 2006, was it? - and thought: ‘uh, oh - here comes the next Demo’s star.’ A senator. But I hadn’t yet heard ‘anything Islam’ involving this electrifying speaker.

Do you know what it feels like to me to have the very next president after GWBush and 9-11
be a person who is - at the least - steeped a bit in Islam (’sweetest sound’ - perfect accent) and lived and educated in a Muslim country, Muslim stepfather, after pondering the idea month after month, and always think it would NEVER happen????!!!

I was working in a polling place in CA the last 2 hours that fateful day, and people kept coming in and saying this guy Obama was winning all over the country! I COULDN’T believe it. It can’t be true! It musn’t be true! Surely it’s a mistake! My friends there couldn’t believe it.

I haven’t awakened from the nightmare - - -

After about 3 months, I thought he would implode. Didn’t know when - just that he would implode. I’m rather surprised he hasn’t - yet. . .
