Tim Larkin, a successful self-defense instructor, has been banned from entering the U.K. because, in the words of MP Rosie Cooper: He teaches extreme and violent self-defense that is unwelcome [in Britain].
One of Larkins philosophies, according to the Telegraph, is: violence is rarely the answer, but when it is, its the only answer. His website elaborates:
The truth is your best self defense in a life-or-death confrontation is injuring the other guy. And its the one thing that makes us so different.
Because, when you
Try to keep yourself from being stabbed youll get stabbed.
Try to avoid being shot and youll get shot.
Its the dirty little secret every predator knows but no one in the self defense world talks about.
When facing violence on the street today, the only thing guaranteed to get you out alive is injuring your assailant.

Actually the word I was searching for was “perception,” not opinion.

From what I saw, it looks a lot like Krav Maga.
Ambivalence.
The British public (contrary to American myth) has never been a gun-owning populace, so the gun bans were either popular or people really didnt care that much, as it wasnt relevant to them. They reacted to the Hungerford/Dunblane killings emotionally, and didnt perhaps grasp the bigger picture.
I supported the 1988 assault rifle band, and I was/am a gun owner (really the only ones buying those guns were Rambo types, no real British gun enthusiast owned them, preferring to own handguns, rifles new and old) BUT I thought
The Govt report after Dunblane actually called for tighter licensing not a ban, but the Tory govt wrongly bowed to pressure groups and muck-raking tabloids. I would have settled for tighter laws, if it meant handguns werent banned.
It sounds terrible, but it would have been better if Thomas Hamilton had killed those kids with an already illegal AK47 or MI6 or FLN. Handguns probably wouldnt have been banned then.
Oral hygiene alone says differently.
Sykes and Fairbairn are spinning in their graves.
Which is taking off ‘bigtime’ in the UK.....
I do it.
>>a gun death number over THIRTY TIMES HIGHER than the UK (approx 900 deaths to approx 30000), gun murder rate almost TWENTY times higher (900 to 14500), <<
Aye Lad, we don’t get upset by these numbers because 98% of the killings are people who need to be killed. That’s right punks killing punks, druggies killing druggies and criminals killing criminals. I don’t lose any sleep over such things.
Now if you all would keep your numbers the same way we do, you learn that yours don’t look so good either. Adding a number to the murder rate AFTER the trial is not the way we do it.
Give us a little time. We might just get the liberals and the commies out of our government yet, ya know.
Be well and bow to the Queen.
And when the authorities said, “Mr. and Mrs. Britain, turn them all in!” these firearms were already registered and failure to turn them in would mean arrest & imprisonment.
Saw the vids from 1999. Helpless British subjects lined up to surrender their personal property without compensation, the police seizing these firearms & tossing them into barrels, to be destroyed later.
Now tell us ignorant Yanks how this has made Britannia a better world. Oh yes, and Anjem Choudary is still the single most powerful man in U.K.
Enslaved Britannia.
‘Oh yes, and Anjem Choudary is still the single most powerful man in U.K.’
If you really believe that, you really do know SFA about Britain.
We do our numbers the way you do.
Anyway you cut it, we have about 900 gun deaths a year, mostly murders as opposed to accidents.
Thank you for a superb reply.
Again, dont take my bashing of America too seriously or harshly, it was more a retort to Jack Hydrocortizone, who attacks the UK in every UK thread, it verges on the pathological with him.
I am utterly bemused as to why you think Choudray is remotely powerful, the idea he is THE most powerful is so bizarre I am tempted to ask if you are on drugs.
The man is a nutter whose ‘power’ resides within a tiny amount of extremists based in London. Just because the UK media reports on him (and he has been quiet recently, oh the irony) doesnt mean he is powerful.
Chuck Norris, next..
I’m not personally familiar with Krav Maga, but I believe they are both “get ‘er done” in their spirit and execution: not interested in fighting, but in efficient, immediate incapacitation by death or serious injury.
Touched a nerve, did I? Two replies for just one Choudary?
Well... maybe I should have said Mr. Choudary is the most feared man in Britain. He wants to be, that’s certain.
Actually, the most powerful Muslim in Britain is a member of the House of Lords. A few years ago Lord Achmed or whatever threatened to surround Parliament with 10,000 Muslim men if a female MP dared to screen a video about jihad terrorism. Fact.
But forget Anjem & his thugs who curse passersby who refuse their outthrust Islamic pamphlets. Islamic immigrants in Britain (why are Pakis honored with the term reserved usually for Chinese, Japanese, & Koreans?) have brought gangs, white slavery, drugs, riots, no-go districts, & female mutilation, just to name a few `issues’.
Muslims in America have Dearborn, Michigan, & that’s about it. They are mostly quiet elsewhere, especially here in the South where the Kuffar majority is or is perceived to be armed to the teeth.
Britons want to live disarmed & helpless before both authorities & criminals? Fine, except British gun control only really began to tighten after WW1 when Tommies returned with all sorts of souvenir weapons & when you get down to it, gun ownership & hunting in England is an upper class sort of thing, wasn’t it? Can’t have those peasants poaching on their ancestral estates, now can we?
Oh, did I mention that most Muslims here strongly favor confiscatory gun control? All of us armed “infidels”, after all.
1776 motto: “We owe allegiance to no crown!”
If you look at the crime rates broken down by demographic, the homicide rate of non-Hispanic whites in the US is around what it is in Europe. But don't worry, your Muslim immigrants will be sure to get your crime rates (especially rape rates) up past ours. Currently, for burglaries and robberies England and Wales had more crimes per 100,000 people than the USA. Your rate for "hot" burglaries (burglary of an occupied residence) is much higher than the US's -- possibly because burglars there are much less likely to face an armed homeowner protected by the Castle Law.
Reference bump. ;-)
