A Miami-Dade County firefighter under investigation by his department for a controversial posting he reportedly made on his personal Facebook page about the Trayvon Martin case has been demoted, Local 10 has learned.
The controversial post read, "I and my co-workers could rewrite the book on whether our urban youths are victims of racist profiling or products of their failed, (expletive), ignorant, pathetic, welfare dependent excuses for parents."
The post caused a firestorm of controversy. Locally, black civic activists staged protests, demanding that Beckmann be fired. Some called him a racist and questioned his ability to serve the community.

Gee!It seems to me that the guy got it nailed.I see nothing wrong in his statement and those people in that community know he’s right.

You’re right; it is bad enough that people in the private sector have to be mindful of everything they put out there (after all, it is very “public”). I can’t imagine what someone paid by the government is thinking; their jobs are even more “politically correct” (though it has spread into the private sector).
How hard is it to simply post these things on other forums under assumed names, or even an anonymous Facebook page (I really don’t know anything about whether or not an anonymous Facebook page can be set up).

Especially since his post said nothing about ANY race, but just referred to “our youths”.
His point is that the parents are bad examples who live off of excuses and mooching. So the response of the Black community is to make excuses and get rid of the person who points out there’s a problem. These people are like a satire of themselves.
Blacks who are not racist and who realize it’s a cop-out to cry “Racist!” whenever somebody says something that cuts too close to home need to speak out before the others totally screw up any mutual respect that might have existed between the races before America voted in a communist-Islamist usurper who just so happens to be half Black.
And every person needs to consider that this is what happens when the “top cop” says straight-out that Blacks cannot be guilty of racism or hate crimes. Once people know they can get away with it, they will do whatever they please. And what we’re seeing in stark detail is that what a lot of Black youths “please” is NOT a pretty picture.

This man has been hung out to dry for stating the truth.He is on his own. His Union cannot defend him without being accused of racism themselves. His fellow firefighters are powerless lest they be called racists, and lose their promotions.
This man has experienced life and low lifes at their own level and had the temerity to say so. Be afraid. This is what happens if we dare to share our experiences in a public non-anonymous forum. Stay off that forum.
As the Police say. Anything you say can and will be used against you.
This is what it has come down to, some one speaking the truth and gets crucified in the process. If our society is to survive this crap will have to change, and change it will, as a society based on lies is not likely to survive.

While I agree with what has been said about Facebook, I still see that as a personal opinion expressed privately to friends. He didn’t make a speech, give an interview to a TV station, write an article for a newspaper, etc.
I don’t think he should be punished for expressing a personal opinion in a personal forum.
Besides he is just sooo correct in his analysis.
He’ll take it to court and be handsomly rewarded as his free speech

Unfortunately, we all must recognize the world we live in. Free speech has only to do with being free to descent from government without the fear of retaliation (hanging only by a thread). It has noting to do with civic retaliation. In business when interacting with the public, you never discuss religion or politics (and race) and you never place bumper stickers on your work truck, as a general rule. Like on this website, I could say something that the mod finds inflammatory regardless of the facts, and blocks my access without warning. If your willing to take the hit, speak your mind as it strikes you.
I think he would win in a court of law. If he worked for a private company, they could fire him or demote, but he works for the government, and the government can’t punish you (fire or demote you) for your speech- at least that said off the job.

To only way for this insanity to stop is for the non-parasitic citizens of his community to get off their butts and demand his right to free speech, on his own time, be protected.
As long as allow the loudmouth lazy sloths of society to voice their opinions unopposed, this situation will get worse. We have all seen the type on the nightly news with their big mouthed pig face playing their race card.

There’s nothing wrong with Facebook. It’s how it is misused that is the problem.
For example, my account is very locked down and I’m not “friends” with anyone I work with period. No exceptions.
Vanity? My 18 month old son caught and released a frog last night. I posted a video of it. I guess I’m vain...
