Dream Act students sue to stop Senate filibuster (illegals sue0

Illegal immigrant students and members of the House sued the Senate this week to try to overturn the upper chamber’s filibuster rule, arguing that the 60-vote supermajority requirement violates the Constitution and is blocking important legislation such as legalization for illegal immigrants.

If successful, the lawsuit, filed Monday, would rewrite the way the Senate operates — though courts generally have been reluctant to meddle in internal congressional rules.

RE :”“...and show up in an emergency room for free service due to a congressional legal mandate...”.....
......Would be nice if we had some ER doctors who considered themselves American first and just sort of...ignored them...when they showed up and demanded free treatment

Sounds easy except they would risk being sued for malpractice and discrimination in US courts.

RE :”But, then again, I forgot...we don’t live in that same country anymore. Silly me.

I seem to recall telling you that it was gone once or twice when you posted “I want my county back”

You said something about not accepting ‘no’ as an answer,.

Remember when GWB prosecuted Border patrol agents for defending the borders and the judge blocked telling the jury that the victim was an illegal alien drug-runner?

Yeah, I know...

...but I guess when you compare signing your name to a document that automatically makes you a traitor in the eyes of the King and warrants a death sentence if captured, versus having to deal with some scumbag lawyers and liberal asswipe judges...well...Yeah...I guess I can see where the real threat is...

/sarc

Every action has consequences. But these people are coming here for the “Reconquista”. They fighting US. A “People” (La Raza) against what USED to be a People.

And we’re losing. Because little acts of resistance AREN’T being enacted, especially where they can and will have an impact.

ER docs are a good place to start.

A simple “No, you have NO insurance, like the rest of “US” HAVE to have, and I have bills to pay for this medical education that I spent a fortune to obtain...it wasn’t FREE, and neither are my services. Go back to your own country and use the medical services there.”

We need to start thinking, believing, and ACTING like a people again.

Because the other side sure as hell does, and they aren’t f***ing around.

I know...”good luck with that...”

SOL my friend, I do indeed recall it...you and I have gone round and round on these kinds of threads many times (good naturedly).

It still doesn’t change my statement, though. I want my country back. For a show of hands here, I’d bet I’m not alone in that sentiment.

It has to start somewhere. Little acts of open defiance to “the powers that be”. ER docs are a good start.

Otherwise, it just slides off the cliff into the sh*pile of history.

Yeah, I get down and pessimistic at times...but that doesn’t mean I’ll quit trying. Whatever little acts of passive resistance and defiance we can do, we should do.

I also understand the reality of it. Most people aren’t ready for the consequences of it, or willing to suffer them and risk everything.

King???

Have you tried these type of ideas yourself to see how they work out?

How about telling the IRS that they will no longer get a penny of your money because they spend it unconstitutionally? You can probably email us from Federal prison to keep us informed on your progress. We will email you uplifting messages.

Maybe after 4 years of Romney as POTUS you will feel like you took a time machine back 20 or 30 years into the past making this nightmare go away. You feelin that surge of optimism yet ? :)

“...King???...”

As in “...of England”... as in back in the day.

“..Have you tried these type of ideas yourself to see how they work out?..”

So you have solutions, then...that is, other than being the “Sultan Of Snarky Comments” out here !!! :^) :^)

We all do whatever little acts of rebellion we can, where we can...

No...not at all. Romney doesn’t set off the Liberty Bell in my head either...

But...and I know I’ll get flak for this...Romney doesn’t strike me as someone who hates his own country like this current jackwad does.

Either way, we’ve a long road to hoe.

Incoming flak LOL

Yep, and that is why unlike Obama, Romney will be able to get MANY Republican congressional votes on stuff that Dems want so he can take credit for ‘getting things done’. Recall it was a GWB/Pelosi energy bill that banned safe cheap lightbulbs.

BTW : My fire department sent out a newsletter to warn us that those new improved GWB/Pelosi energy efficient light bulbs are dangerous and they showed real pictures of burn victims from them. They looked pretty gruesome, but to fix the world you have to break a few eggs right?

DA-DA-DA,

Solutions??? Snarky?? Someone else called me that recently LOL

I am stocking up on light bulbs so I don't have to use the new GWB/Pelosi toxic firebombs.
With all GWB talk of WMDs, he then works with Pelosi to replace our light-bulbs with mini WMDs that we put in light sockets. Did they come from Saddam?

SJB had the best solution, buy property in Australia because as I told him, in 4 years we will remember these as the good times,

Article 1 section 5

“Each House may determine the Rules of its Proceedings”

Seems pretty clear cut to me. It’s not a rule that says you need 60 votes to pass something (that you could argue against being legal) but 60 votes to end debate.

How I personally feel about it’s existence depends on what’s being filibustered but either way there’s nothing unconstitutional about it.

I agree about the rule. Unless there’s written rule that states that the Senate must use filibusters, both parties should try to pass bills with only 51 votes.
