Pastor Marvin Winans Carjacked at Detroit Gas Station

Here is proof that no one is immune from the violence in Detroit. It turns out pastor and gospel singer Marvin Winans is the city's latest crime victim. The reverend says he was roughed up at the gas pump. Thieves robbed him and then carjacked him. They're still on the streets with his luxury SUV.

He stopped at pump number one to refuel at the Citgo at Linwood and the Davison on the city's west side. Winans, founder on Detroit's Perfecting Church, walked inside the Citgo and noticed a dozen young men in the gas station's lobby.

As Pastor Winans walked back out to pump gas, three to four of the young men followed him to the pump.

Winans told police he was suspicious, so he watched the young men as his gas tank overflowed.

"He directed his attention back to the gas pump and was turning it off. At that time, a gentleman that was here at the gas station punched him from his blind side, knocking him to the ground. When he fell to the ground, a couple more guys intervened and started punching and kicking him while he was down. They then went into his pockets and took his wallet containing approximately $200 in cash and a few other personal items," said Inspector Nick Kyriacou.

The thieves drove off with Pastor Winans' 2012 burgundy Infiniti QX56. The SUV list price is $72,000. His $40,000 Presidential Rolex was also stolen.

There is no way I'd stop for gas in what might be the worst neighborhood in Detroit, and I drive a 10 year old vehicle.

Don’t worry... With the freaks and animals running loose in Detroit it won’t be long before it becomes a gas desert. All the food chains have left already. The punks don’t have anyone else to strongarm and God forbid one of those poor little thugs get shot and killed after all.... They’re such nice, good little boys now aren’t they?

I;m sorry, but this pastor just about asked for this to happen. He was just flashing his money out in the open to these hoodlums and they took it. The pastor was not too wise, imo.

So, the perps didn’t recognize the Pastor, huh? I’ll go out on a limb here and guess that *just maybe* these young men weren’t churchgoers. Call it a hunch.

Maybe I’m out of it, but what type of pastor drives a $72,000 vehicle and wears a $40,000 watch?

Comes back from paying and watches the tank overflow? Sounds like something omitted, like who put the nozzle in the filler and squeezed it, and why did that person leave the vehicle. If pay first, and doggone tooting that in a rough area it would be, you also can’t just cock the nozzle and have it ready to flow when the attendant enables the pump.

Prosperity gospel? That might sell well among the poor. I don’t mean it’s insincere, even though the theology is plain wrong.

Several things:

The pastor is living rather large...no example of humility.

Doesn't one expect thugs at a Cit-go....Venezuela, Chavez???

I guess he felt he would be called a racist if he had profiled a “dozen young men” of whom “he was suspicious”.

Even with Fox news they don't seem to be able to word the article a la....”black gospel singer Marvin Winans” and “dozen young Amish men”.....I mean, “black”.

Forgive me for the slip, if they had been Amish, he wouldn't be alive to tell the tale.

A successful recording artist? If I recall correctly, Marvin was the one who preached at Whitney Houston’s funeral.

Is Citgo more known as a gathering site for riffraff than Marathon or Mobil? I mean does any street punk care about Venezuela?

What? Wait just a second. Paster Marvin Winans ... PASTOR MARVIN WINANS drives a $72,000 luxury Infiniti QX56 and wears a $40,000 Rolex? WTH? Sounds like Pastor Marvin Winans has "Perfected" the saintly habit of ripping off his congregation. Sounds like he is a "Perfect" member of bogus health & wealth theology, although he has certainly profited by it. And I bet that he still votes for 0dumb0 to boot and is friends with hate-monger racist Jeremiah Wright. Personally I don't have a lot of sympathy for him. I hope he gets ripped off 10 more times like this.

Well yeah; maybe Houston’s family even donated the flash to him, but it still seems stupid to let the flash flash in the ghetto. Prosperity gospel or not, you’re begging to be robbed by some desperate with a monkey on his back.

Really!!

Up is down and down is up.

After all, there's reverend Jackson and reverend Sharpton...the church business is a money maker, eh?

Mark 10:21 Then Jesus beholding him loved him, and said unto him, One thing thou lackest: go thy way, sell whatsoever thou hast, and give to the poor, and thou shalt have treasure in heaven: and come, take up the cross, and follow me.

Yup that’s prosperity gospel for ya (in the worse instances). A cold calculating con man, or one who has a sincere lottery theology?

Marvin Winan and his sister probably made most of that kind of money with their hit-gospel songs and concerts of the 80’s and 90’s where they had record success. I haven’t heard anything of Winan involved in anything scrupulous with his teachings or dealings so if he made that money legitimately because people bought his records then I don’t see the problem other than him flashing it as a pastor

The rich young “ruler” who was in bondage to his own earthly wealth. Nobody has positively identified who that was. Some speculate it was the future St. Paul. We’ll have to ask in heaven.

Uh, he’s part of the Winan’s music family, Whitney’s Mom got her start because of him and his brothers if I recall correctly.

He has sold dozens of albums and been a successful singer for decades.
