Chris Hayes: I'm 'Uncomfortable' Calling Fallen Military 'Heroes'
NewsBusters ^ | Mark Finkelstein

Posted on 05/27/2012 6:30:17 AM PDT by governsleastgovernsbest

Effete: affected, overrefined, and ineffectual; see "Chris Hayes." OK, I appended the name of the MSNBC host to the dictionary definition. But if ever you wanted to see the human embodiment of the adjective in action, have a look at the video from his MSNBC show this morning of the too-refined-by-half Hayes explaining why he is "uncomfortable" in calling America's fallen military members "heroes."

Hayes is worried that doing so is "rhetorically proximate" to justifications for more war. Oh, the rhetorical proximity!

View the video after the jump.

Mill developed utilitarianism so that might help shine the light of truth. The greatest happiness principle is rhetorically proximate to collectivist thinking. IMO it is dangerous to accept the notion of leftist pansies like this making decisions for our greatest happiness. My definition of happiness is probably 180 degrees out from this clown. The timing of choosing Memorial Day weekend to drag this guy out from under his rock is intentionally done to keep us bitter clingers on the edge.

I guess I’m confused. I thought liberals like the military now, because of the end of Don’t Ask / Don’t Tell.

So do you mean to say, that the liberals still dislike the military, even though we now allow open homosexuality in the ranks?????

Bill Clinton was quoted as saying that he “loathed the military”.

It is an irony, that the rights of the liberals to bitch about everything they bitch about, exists precisely because we have a military.

To paraphrase Zell Miller, it is the soldier, not the news reporter, who gave us freedom of speech.

And I’m uncomfortable calling him a man.

I can see exactly why he's uncomfortable with heroes. Edward "Shakespeare" de Vere nailed it.

"...And Crispin Crispian shall ne'er go by,
From this day to the ending of the world,
But we in it shall be remember'd;
We few, we happy few, we band of brothers;
For he to-day that sheds his blood with me
Shall be my brother; be he ne'er so vile,
This day shall gentle his condition:
And gentlemen in England now a-bed
Shall think themselves accursed they were not here,
And hold their manhoods cheap whiles any speaks
That fought with us upon Saint Crispin's day."

Poofter boy must hold his manhood limp.

Thanks for watching & posting, Mark. It’s part of the meme...

“We are living in a militarized society. That, that, it’s clear what the message is from power. The message is that Occupy represents violence, and marginalization and insanity, when in reality it’s the 1% that represents violence, and insanity and militarism. We’ve got a militarized society and its become so common sense that, getting on the airplane coming out here, the first thing they said was let all the, uhh, let all the ya know, uniformed military get on first and thank you for your service. And I said as I always do: let’s let the teachers and nurses get on first and thank them for their service. I mean, why is it that everything military has got to be good and everything that has to do with actual work, real work, not jobs, real work for people, that stuff gets discouraged and marginalized.” - Bill Ayers, Occupy Wall Street rally, New York City

Oh God, wasn’t that unbelievable how the media embraced Obama on gay marriage?

I can’t remember the last time the media seemed to have a mediagasm over some policy position taken by a president, as they did over Obama and homosexual marriage.

And we ended up with gay marriage week in the media.

I couldn’t believe the Newsweek cover. When somebody posted the picture here, I really thought somebody photoshopped a picture of Obama with a halo, to make fun of Obama. I was truly shocked to learn that was the real Newsweek cover.

Anybody still doubt there is liberal media bias????

I’m uncomfortable calling anyone that effite a man.

From Wikipedia:

Hayes is married to Kate A. Shaw, Associate Counsel for President Barack Obama and daughter of award-winning Chicago journalist Andy Shaw, who has also appeared a number of times on MSNBC.[10][11] Hayes and Shaw resided in Washington, D.C., until they moved to New York City, where Up with Chris Hayes is produced.[12] Their daughter, Ryan Elizabeth Shaw-Hayes, was born in November 2011.[13] Hayes’s brother Luke is a Democratic political operative.

What does this loser think is the correct word for someone who gave his life so that we could be free?

As much as I sympathize with what you say, acting on those words would dishonor the sacrifices of our fallen heroes. They died in the line of duty to country, which means all of us, not just those that would agree with them. I’m sure that liberals, no matter how misguided they may be, died right along side of conservatives defending our country, and Hayes dishonors them as well. Conservative and liberal alike defended this country so its destiny, rightly or wrongly, would be our choice, not that of some foreign tyrant. Hayes is getting the righteous indignation he deserves right here and hopefully on other web sites where people see this ingrate for what he is.

I don’t look at a soldier’s grave and wonder, was he Republican or a Democrat. It never occurred to me.

Embed his rear for several weeks with a randomly selected platoon in some remote outpost on the Afghan/Pakistan border that has seen recent action and I bet you he will change his definition of “hero” in a couple days at most.

Just showing up in a combat zone makes one a hero in my book.

It’s because of these fallen HEROS that this POS has the freedom to trash this country! How ironic and SAD!

I would have loved to see this ungrateful POS on Wake Island in late Dec. of 1941.

Fools like this need to be instantly called on their pathetic remarks and ridiculed incessantly for them.
