The jury in the federal campaign finance case against former Senator John Edwards said Thursday that it had found him not guilty on one of the six counts against him, and the judge declared a mistrial on the others.
The verdict came on the third count, which involved donations from the heiress Rachel Mellon. Mrs. Mellon gave more than $725,000 to help Mr. Edwards during his 2008 presidential campaign, during which large sums were spent to cover up an affair between Mr. Edwards and a former staff videographer, Rielle Mellon, with whom he conceived a daughter.

Guess the Times can't afford proofreaders anymore.
Agents of the Obama-Clinton-Soros-Edwards Machine must have gotten to the jurors.
Did he smile and wink at the jury..
Looks like the same jury that let Casey Anthony off.
These jury morons probably don’t even have a high school education.
always a ‘good’ sign when jury members are openly flirting with the defendant. lol
Now he can run for President in 2016. He will be a shoo-in for the nomination. Dems love the corrupt, the liars, and adulterers. Edwards is the whole package.

There are a lot of very wise people out there without a high school education and there is a world full of educated morons.
bttt
Didn’t they catch one of the jurors flirting with Silky Pony?
True, very true.
It was an alternate so she was not involved in the verdict.
Oh.
Wonder how many similar morons were on the jury.

Yes indeed.. he is TEFLON!
Looks like Breck won’t have to worry about being the pretty boy in the slammer.
Instead of “to big to fail” he’s to pretty to jail.
Silky Pony rides again. Is Rielle gonna ride him like a Lady Godiva, ehehehe. Taxpayers savings let him go-who cares-—hes done politically.
Another idiot jury.
In the coverage of this on Fox News one pundit mentioned that the jury was “weird”, that four or five of them began dressing alike, one of them “flirted” with John Edwards and I :::thought:::: the flirter was a male but I might be mistaken.
Of everything John Edwards might be, a homosexual is likely not one of them.
In an effort to enliven debate on this thread, my husband, a staunch conservative, comes in from the store. I shout out about the Edwards verdict, did he hear?
“It was a mistrial,” he responds, thus I supposed he had the verdict.
I began to rant and rave about dumb juries and on and one. Husband stops quiet, in thought to say something as I know the pose.
“It’s just that,” husband said, slowly, searching for the words, “as I understand it, Pat, they just didn’t understand the law.”
This comment gave me pause.
Okay, so Bunny Mellon gave almost $800,000 to the Edwards campaign. Edwards done got some woman pregnant, well dag, she told him she was using birth control!....so Edwards bought Rielle a house and commenced to pay for her keep as well as the child.
As an aside, go on, I’m running for VP of the United States, some bimbo tells me she’s using birth control...I DON’T BELIEVE HER! I make sure there will be no surprises. But I’m are a wommin and maybe it’s just me.
Well exactly what is the law here?
John Edwards is not a poor man. I’m not sure, though I’ll be reading and hearing more about it all, but I’m not sure it’s all that clear that it was, specifically, Bunny Mellon’s money that was used to take care of Rielle and the child.
On the surface, as I muse, I’m not totally convinced that a man should go to jail for that whole thing.
For now, until I learn more, let me summarize with the thought that if John Edwards is not found guilty of violation of campaign finance laws, NOBODY EVER WILL!!
But darn if our guy, Juan McCain, didn’t waste yea many years of his life on campaign finance reform, not because Americans across the fruited plains couldn’t sleep at night for concern about it, but all to make Juan look like the hand-across-the-aisle he wanted to be perceived as.
All the while a Marxist was arming up, choosing his Communist army, getting money from Planned Parenthood and public service unions, all ready to transform this country while John refused to allow mention of his middle name and continued pushihng his campaign finance reform. I sleep better every night knowing this law finally got passed.
It was a big nothing burger, Juan McCain. Look at the blatant violation by John Edwards, and now the mighty Super Pacs.
He threw away our country with that silly action. This is the BIG lesson we have learned from this John Edwards flap.
There are a lot of very wise people out there without a high school education and there is a world full of educated morons.
Agreed; I like to think I might be considered one of those. I took me 5 years and 2 months to finish high school, and I just barely made it.
