Mitt Romney Wins Over The Right By Confronting Obama (Rush: Not the McCain Campaign)
Buzzfeed ^ | June 1, 2012 | Mickey Coppins

Posted on 06/01/2012 2:58:29 PM PDT by lbryce

After a day spent waging bi-coastal combat with the Obama campaign, Mitt Romney's team in Boston earned the highest compliment Rush Limbaugh has ever paid them Thursday afternoon: "I'm telling you," he said. "This is not the McCain campaign."

Once-skeptical conservatives knew exactly what he meant. In the eyes of many on the right, John McCain's 2008 presidential bid was a disaster not because he lost, but because he refused to fight. Conservatives believe McCain bought into a liberal media narrative that personal attacks on Barack Obama were unseemly and even racist. The conservative caricature of Candidate McCain that emerged in the wake of the Republicans' defeat wasn't of an unreliable moderate — rather, it was one of an Establishment figure paralyzed by political correctness, and unwilling to go blow for blow with Obama.

But if the Vietnam veteran disappointed conservatives with his gun-shy campaign in 2008, Romney is uniting the right by playing the role of the bomb-thrower.

The unapologetically aggressive tone of Romney's campaign is manifest at every turn — from his aides' fierce Twitter wars, to the candidate's surprise press conference at failed green solar company Solyndra, and the campaign's continued refusal to apologize for Donald Trump's outlandish conspiracy theories about Obama's birth certificate. It's all part of a deliberate — and, so far, successful — strategy aimed less at convincing undecided voters, and more at rallying the Republican Party around its candidate.

“There were a lot of folks who didn’t think he’d have the edge to really take on the president,” a Romney advisor, who outlined the campaign strategy on the condition of anonymity, told BuzzFeed, refrring to “the Santorum people and conservatives who have been off the bandwagon.”

Rush Limbaugh: "This is not the McCain campaign."
Could very well not be saying much.

Whoever decided to have Myth speak in front the empty Solyndra building was brilliant.

Myth like to say one thing and do another.

I still don’t trust him with my vote or my country.

My sense is that McCain has never run a competitive race in his life, apart from going up against Bush in 2000 in the primaries and Obama in 2008. As a GOP senatorial candidate, his war hero record won his primary races, and as long as the electorate was majority Republican, he was a lock. Romney - on the other hand - has run only competitive races. His races in MA have been really difficult, given that he does represent the GOP, whereas the electorate is overwhelmingly liberal. He went up against McCain in 2008 with a liberal/moderate record established by his races in MA, as contrasted against McCain’s war hero record. It’s a miracle he was the runner-up. I’m still surprised that he won the GOP nomination this time around, given the amount of flak that came his way. He’s not my candidate of choice, but he’s certainly someone who doesn’t shrink from a challenge, whether in the business or political world.

Simple, really. In any conflict, you don’t let the other side set the rules. McCain did, Romney’s not going to.

“Could very well not be saying much. “

Lots of people turned off McCain before he had a chance to express his erratic rinoism simply because they thought he was just too old.

"That's BullSheet. I have fought like a rabid dog all my life; most notably, all the Vietnam Vet and Swift Boat Vets who were smearing my good "bud" John Kerry by trying to expose his record phony Vietnam Record in 04, as well as when I was fighting to pass Amnesty for all Illegal Aliens and no one has been more confrontational then when I took on those Right-Wing, Extremist, Clinging, T-Party Patriots.

Just because I rolled over and folded like a cheap suit when campaigning against Barack Hussein Obama, don't mean I'm not up for a good fight, just ask any real Conservative"

Even more annoying about McCain was the fact that he fought back hard and dirty against those in the Republican party. Clearly, he had contempt for his own party and for Republican voters as a whole. He wasn’t merely inept, he was contemptuous and snobby with regards to those whose team he claimed to want to represent. Why Arizona voted him back in is a mystery to most of us!

Be mystified no more. A certain former Governor of Alaska who shall not be named, not only proclaimed that John McCain was the 'Tea Party candidate' in the primary race against J.D. Hayworth (a REAL conservative!), that same VP running mate for McCain in 2008 said that they "shared the same vision for America as did John McCain", and if that is true, then the person I am referring to is damn sure no conservative, because there is NOTHING conservative about John Sidney McCain.

As our esteemed Founder himself stated in no uncertain terms, McCain is a "traitorous bastard" and in my opinion, anyone supporting that Manchurian piece of sh*t should have their sanity and/or their loyalty to our Constitution questioned.

Donald Trump's outlandish conspiracy theories about Obama's birth certificate

As opposed to AG Holder's completely normal and sane conspiracy theories about black voter suppression, Green Jobs Czar Van Jones's well-reasoned conspiracy theories about 9/11, or Rev. Wright's historically grounded conspiracy theories that "white folks' greed rules a world in need"? THOSE perfectly okay conspiracy theories to which President Obama is happy to subscribe?
