Do you know any repentant Obama voters?

Posted on 06/02/2012 8:26:18 AM PDT by MNDude

I know a guy who voted for Obama because he said "you have to admit, we really need change." Now he claims he's the worst President ever and he can't wait to vote against him (although I guess his wife didn't let him sleep with her for a month after voting Obama)

I knew several senior citizens who voted for Obama out of anger at Bush who now hate Obama because of the ObamaCare thing.

Any of you know any repentant Obama voters? Anyone ever heard of a McCain voter now supporting Obama?

The one friend who volunteered for the inauguration — she is active in her church. Sings in the choir, chairs committees, the whole nine yards...

I must say, I was once in the same boat for quite a while - before I actually became a Christian and started reading and understanding the Bible. So I understand this. There are lots of people inhabiting church pews and doing all sorts of things in churches who are not Christians. They are "cultural" Christians, not Christians in fact.

...I guess she so believes the lies, she will close her eyes to the depravity.

It is clear the practice of homosexuality is one of the many sexual sins specifically listed in the Bible. She obviously has not read her Bible either closely or even casually. Likely she feels quite smug about her "tolerance" to homosexuality (after all, it is now the "rage"). It's probably not the only sin she is "tolerant" about, either. But then, she is not looking at it through God's holy lenses but her own faulty human lenses, which she prefers.

Everyone I know who hated Bush and were certain Obama would be soooo much better NEVER start a conversation about Dear Leader. They won’t even say, “At least he’s not as bad as Bush.”

I know a former precinct chair for Obama who told the party to take a hike when they came around asking if he’d be the precinct chair again.

I was talking with a group of folk the other day who were all trying to remember what it was about Bush they were so upset about. They can list their grievances against Obama.

in fact what I have seen is that some conservative friends will just sit out the election saying the Repubs are just as bad as the Dems.

I kinda feel the same way, but I'm willing to at least jump out of the fire and back into the frying pan!

An acquaintance said to me one day after the occasional discussion about the state of things, “and I voted for that ‘N’,too.”

Several union folks I know aren’t doing it again. Others I know who did for lesser of two evils would have gone Santorum over Obama due to life and guns, but I don’t think he’d go Romney.

...they are terrified that Republicans are going to oppress them.

Dems tell us what kind of gas we can put in our cars - how much water our toilets can use - what types of light bulbs we can buy... They've soaked our children's clothing with so much fire retardant - by law - that our kids get allergies and autism. Liberals control how energy is produced and force stupid public transportation on us that no one uses. The force food choices on school kids - most of the food winding up in the garbage can. Dems have devalued our vote - by letting anyone and everyone illegal or not - vote - and fought our right to stop illegal votes. There's more... Dem are control freaks.

As for Republicans - other than the scare stories about what 'might happen' there's almost nothing. Tell me 3 things THAT HAVE BEEN DONE by Republicans that forced change on Democrat's lives that they resent... Three. Not liberal wet dreams about might of, could of, would of, should of etc. THREE CHANGES FORCED ON LIBERALS THAT they don't like - forced by Republicans. Just like my list above.

She actually hopes when Obama is re-elected, he will “do away with Congress” so he can accomplish everything he sets out to do without further restriction.

These are true believers. I just can’t talk about anything political with them. I tried to explain to one of them about the death panels under Obamacare. I was told this was propaganda perpetrated by Fox News and the Republicans, and that “they will never happen.” It’s frightening because these friends are well educated.

I know one person for sure - he said he was young and got caught up in the hype. He’s an econ PhD student and Obambi’s economic polices are making him crazy.

I’ll say this - I’m a professor with all grad students. I try to keep politics out of the classroom, but during the election, I had an idea that a good number of students were for Obambi, based on casual conversation, stickers, pins, etc. Obambi came here several times and students would talk about his visit.

What I find interesting is that they don’t talk about him at all. You’d think that if they were happy with him, they’d be talking about how pleased they were with this or that. They don’t even talk about the student loan stuff. I bet that many of those that bother to vote, will not be voting for the child king this time around.

My father in law is a retired UAW worker. He is a rabid Democrat narcisist. My wife and her brother are die hard tea partiers like me. So, when we get together for family gatherings I get a cold refreshment and popcorn and just sit back and enjoy the fireworks.

Thing is, this friend is 65, a little older than I. In our day, we may have been indoctrinated to some degree, but schools and colleges back then still taught. I can understand such BS coming from a product of today’s schools because these youngins are brainwashed, but I would think the ones from my day and older would have more sense. Maybe it’s something in the water.

This is not exactly the same thing as you’re talking about, but related. I was watching a video w/my almost-11 year old Granddaughter about a family that were bakers. They were making a cake commemorating “Sesame Street” on the anniversary of the show. They had puppets of some of the characters. One of them was “Cookie Monster”. Anyway, we were talking about the Cookie Monster, and how the so-called “Veggie Monster” was now taking his place. This was done, I think, about a year ago. However, this family was a big fan of the Cookie Monster.

My Granddaughter, out of the blue, started going off on Michele Obama! (laugh)She claims that Mrs. Obama caused the CM to be replaced by VM, and she was furious as she was talking about it! She said many of the kids she knew would NOT watch “Sesame Street” anymore, because they were mad at the people who made the show for taking off Cookie M., and replacing him with Veggie Monster!

But get this: They were even more angry with the First Lady, thinking that she was the one that caused C. Monster to be taken off! That was a surprise! A lot of my Grandkids’ friends were not fans anymore of the show, (or Mrs. Obama) for that! I guess it was due to this healthy eating initiative that brought that about, and lots of young kids were mad! I laughed to myself about it, thinking that if even many young kids are mad; they (The Obamas) are in double-trouble with these young citizens!

It is an abiding source of fascination to me to see the political dividing line that runs right through families.

I’m sure you have wondered, as have I, about how this happens.

My extended family doesn’t seem to have that dividing line, so I can speculate only from a distance about others.

(Everyone that I know about in my family is pretty damn conservative except me. I’m the black sheep in more than one way; a former anarcho-libertarian, now a conservo-libertarian.)

It sounds as if maybe there's some real economics being taught there, and not just rent-seeking worship of the State.
