Something isn’t kosher about a CUNYscheme to single out Jews, angry professors charge.
Touting a move to make its faculty more diverse, CUNYadministrators have broken out Jews into a separate minority group:
“White/Jewish.”
CUNYinsists “some faculty” want the label, instead of being lumped in as just white. But the theistic tag has outraged both
Jewish and non-Jewish professors, and sparked a furor.
“This is, as far as I know, the first time a religion has been introduced into any affirmative-action document,” said David Gordon,
a history professor at Bronx Community College and the Graduate Center. “What would the response be to a category
‘White/Methodist?’ Silly? Irrelevant?”
“It’s an insult and idiotic,” said Hershey Friedman, deputy chairman of the Finance and Business Management Department at
Brooklyn College. “Most Jews are brown-skinned. We also have black Jews and Asian Jews. Once you mix religion with race
you’re opening a Pandora’s box— and you look stupid.”

Race, class and gender are the primary cudgels of the Left, and their hysterical insistence upon using them at EVERY opportunity is even wearing thin on a few of the more thoughtful die-hard Leftists. I suppose that's why they're picking on the Jews with this nonsense now....they've run out of people to oppress.
I hope they'll keep going with this idiocy, as I believe it's waking a lot of people up to the fact that there are indeed real differences between political parties and the philosophies they represent. When brilliant Jewish kids can't get into a University because of Leftist 'affirmative action', hopefully that will make a few people on the Left rethink their allegiances.

In the New Progressive America, they’ll sort everyone into special interest groups, and the few remaining people who don’t fit into any of the herds (i.e. white, heterosexual, male Christians) will get the badge.
Yet they can’t have it both ways. 70%+ vote for the party of quotas and reverse racism, but somehow they should be exempt even though greatly”over-represented” in terms of % in the professions, etc.? If that’s the case, then the brunt of the reverse racism falls against Gentiles of merit.
I recall during the Bakke v. Cal Board of Regents case in the late 70s, the Jewish organizations filing amicus briefs on behalf of Bakke. While I supported that view, I did find it rather hypocritical, “it’s a big problem” but “not in our neighborhood.” Plus, the wave of anti-Semitism that seems to be occurring ironically from the left and its constituencies will naturally lead to situations like this. It was only a matter of time.
This sort of nonsense and head counting should have been illegal from the get-go. Instead it was pooh-poohed by too many out of “racial guilt” or “it doesn’t affect me” (e.g. justices) . . . and now look what we’ve got. A nation divided.
And what if you’re a mix of White/Semite Jew and Brown/Semite Arab? Like someone I know well - should we let them reproduce? Hmmmm.
Yeah, maybe something in yellow... with the word 'Jude' in the center - something like that... Women can claim half the slots based on being half the population - blacks 10%. Jews are 2.2% of the population ...
