What happened in Wisconsin Tuesday night was not about an election or a politician. It wasnt about collective bargaining or budget deficits. It was about something far more important and far more intangible. It was about who and what we are as Americans.
The people of Wisconsin had a choice. Would they, and in turn the rest of America, whose eyes were riveted on this small northern state, be a people with their hand constantly extended to the public trough shouting give me, give me, give me? Or, as the Tea Party has tried to exemplify, would we become the people pushing the plough, demanding, give me liberty, whatever the cost. It was about Barack Obamas view of America versus the Tea Partys. And once again, the Tea Party emerged victorious.
Those of us that came into Wisconsin over these past days and weeks joined with other activists in the state to deliver that view of America.

Without exception, economic freedom is the basis of all political freedom. Ones freedom is directly tied to how indebted and beholden one is to the government. Throw off the yoke of bureaucratic bondage, and freedom and prosperity flourish. Wisconsin proved this. The unemployment rate is down well below the national average to 6.2%, the lowest its been since 2008.
THAT is what socialists most fear - removing them from the power to bankrupt the common man, and the government itself.
Right on! I hope the majority of American voters will remember this in November.
Great article!
Liberals based their fight on hating one man, conservatives rallied for the love of one country.
I hope attention spans last that long.
Wow-..good for her- she gets it! Sounds as though she has studied the (late)GREAT Milton Friedman ;)
You got that very right. Liberals don't like this country as was founded - they want another Russia or China.
With any luck the Dems may have awakened a sleeping giant when it comes to Wisconsin. Scott Walker may not be MY governor but I certainly feel as proud of him as if he were!
It sure looks like there is an awakening taking place. It's just too bad that it took near total destruction of this nation to cause it!!
Historians will view the Walker recall election as the most pivotal decision made by Americans in the 21st century. His victory may herald a new beginning and revitalization, his defeat would have been a catastrophe .
Those that know her should consider asking her to run for office. She knows what’s right and what’s wrong - while so many just do not.
What is not being talked about is the margin of victory. DemonRATs and their union thugs took a thumping with Walker getting 53 percent of the vote, compared with 46 percent for Barrett. That is what is not being talked about.
Bump
I agree with your post #11. I do not think you are exaggerating. It definitely was that important.
For too many Americans, freedom means getting the free stuff. They like the idea of government using the arm of the law to pick the pockets of other Americans so that it can be given to those who think they are entitled to it.
It's heartening that it's been reported that people in 38% of union households voted against Gov. Walker being recalled, those people are using their heads instead of listening to the union thug leaders.
Would that it could. We would have to go back to SMALL government, that is held strictly accountable by district party leadership.
But, in order to get there, we would need to return to local district party leadership ("the people") the power they had pre-1914. The power of local party DISTRICT leadership to recall a misbehaving legislator was possible - often with no more than 10 votes. And that vote was final!
That power existed from the earliest days of this Republic. For nearly 150 years, a small group of elected party members could recall their representative without any sort of 'recall' election.
In other words, political power was centered 'with the people' - not big government. That is why 'the people' had recourse locally - they held their district elected party officials to much stricter levels of performance than the public does today. Power was wielded UP, not down. Elected officials had no power other than what his district party leaders allowed. They also determined how their 'representative' would vote. If he didn't vote right - he was recalled, period - end of story.
If we went back to local control, this nation would indeed once again have 'government by the people.'
Let's hope we can expand this exponentially!!
