Comedians, after dinner speakers, even your Uncle Harry tells the off color joke now and again. Double entendres can be funny for adults and usually go over the head of children.

But a president using a double entendre? Here's what Obama said at a gay fundraiser in Los Angeles. Via BuzzFeed:

"I want to thank my wonderful friend who accepts a little bit of teasing about Michelle beating her in pushups -- (laughter) -- but I think she claims Michelle didn't go all the way down. (Laughter.) That's what I heard. I just want to set the record straight -- Michelle outdoes me in pushups as well. (Laughter.) So she shouldn't feel bad. She's an extraordinary talent and she's just a dear, dear friend -- Ellen DeGeneres. Give Ellen a big round of applause."

According to a pool report, Obama paused provocatively after the double entendre.

Yes, it's beneath the dignity of the office. But we're used to that with Obama

When I first heard about his, I gave sparky the benefit of the doubt that he was truly an innocent remark.

However, now realizing that it was made at a gay fundraiser, there is absolutely no doubt in my mind that it was sexual reference.

For anyone to make this kind of joke/revelation about your wife in a public forum is despicable. For the POTUS to do this is beyond my ability to characterize right now. Can he go any lower??

Wow! Another moron who expresses an opinion without even having watched the clip for himself. How irresponsible and ignorant can one person be.

Even a cursory look at the video proves Obama didn't even realize why everyone was laughing.

Obama is a contemptible individual, but he has repeatedly shown himself to be a good parent and husband. I seriously doubt he would ever crack such a joke at his wife's expense--certainly not in public.

It serves conservatives no good purpose to mimic liberals in deliberately misinterpreting or misrepresenting what Democrats/liberals say and/or do. It is beneath our dignity and most people see through such transparent attempts at character assassination.

Obama is so terribly flawed, such a target rich individual, I fail to see any reason to invent things at which to be offended; every policy he advocates is an affront to those who believe in America in our Constitution.

I did too. For me it was the realization that he was talking in front of Hollywood celebrities that made me change my mind. And then to hear that it was a gay fundraiser - even more so.

What a disgrace to the Presidency this man is.

I think that he knew exactly what he was saying.

He was at a homosexual themed fundraiser. He was playing to the audience he was speaking to. The crowd he was speaking to enjoys talking about sexual matters.

Now, consider too, that liberals tell us that Obama is a brilliant man. He’s brilliant, intelligent, all of that. How could someone so brilliant and intelligent, who understands all of the nuances of life and speech, have made such a remark in front of a homosexual oriented group, and NOT known how it could be interpreted????

Hmm. It kind of seems like he was surprised at how long the laughter was at such a benign push up kid on his wife. Ten it seems like he gets it, and frowns because oh my gosh, that is too dirty for The President so he tries to get it to stop, but it only gets worse, so then he carefully crafts the “she beats me in push ups as well” line.

I think he did not see that dirty take at first. I don’t think he intended it. He doesn’t need to be crude publicly to earn the gay vote.

So it was just a coincidence? Not buying it. He is disgusting and probably a homosexual himself - if not, then bisexual. How could he not have known how it would be interpreted? A sixth grader would have known. He is a no-class POS and so is his Wookie.

The audio alone made me think the rude joke was intended.

However, I finally watched the video (and I hate looking at him speak) and I think he realized the double meaning when he abruptly frowns and then puts his hands up as if to get the audience to settle down.

My question is, was he reading it off a teleprompter? If so, the joke was deliberately put there by a staffer for that audience.

He remains a scumbag though.
