FReeper Canteen ~ Sunday Chapel ~ MEDITATION ON SUCCESS ~ 10 June 2012
Serving The Best Troops and Veterans In The World !! | The Canteen Crew

MEDITATION ON SUCCESS

"Do not let this Book of Law (The Torah) depart from your mouth; meditate on it day and night, so that you may be careful to do everything written in it. Then you will be prosperous and successful." (Joshua 1:8)

"Great success, like disgrace, can bring great trouble. Success which advances ego can make you lose your way." (Tao 13.)

A lawyer once commented to me, "If you preachers ever convince people to live by the Ten Commandments, I will be out of business." Now there is a thought: lawyers out of business! Doing God's will is the only real guarantee of success. Beginning with the Ten Commandments, we must first learn the laws by which God guarantees success. To learn these laws is not just a mental exercise but the beginning of a way of living, a way which brings the reward of joyful success. Successful people are often asked, "What is the secret of your success?" One person responded, "To live life fully by doing rather than talking." Maybe that is what is meant by the words in Joshua quoted above. Obedience to God brings happiness, which is real success!

Capt Stephen W Seelig, CHC, USN

Dear God:
I ask that no Airman, Coast Guardsman,
Marine, Sailor, Soldier, Reservist, or National Guardsman
Feel alone or forgotten.

O Israel, hope in the Lord;
For with the Lord there is lovingkindness,
And with Him is abundant redemption.
And He will redeem Israel
From all his iniquities.

Psalm 130:7 & 8

He Who blessed our forefathers Abraham, Isaac and Jacob - may He bless the fighters of the Israel Defense Force, who stand guard over our land and the cities of our G-d from the border of the Lebanon to the desert of Egypt, and from the Great Sea unto the approach of the Aravah, on the land, in the air, and on the sea.

May HASHEM cause the enemies who rise up against us to be struck down before them. May the Holy One, Blessed is He, preserve and rescue our fighting men from every trouble and distress and from every plague and illness, and may He send blessing and success in their every endeavor.

May He lead our enemies under their sway and may He grant them salvation and crown them with victory. And may there be fulfilled for them the verse: For it is Hashem, your G-d, Who goes with you to battle your enemies for you to save you.

G-d bless and keep your children safe, Alouette.

((HUGS))

At last night's Canteen (Music Dedication) I started a four-part survey of Brahms and his music. Check in, and follow my nine posts taking him up to age 27 when he turned to chamber music.

How about three of the "Mary Songs" Brahms wrote for his Ladies' Chorus in Hamburg?

Brahms: “The Angel’s Greeting”, Op. 22/1

Brahms: “The Hunter”, Op. 22/4

Brahms: “Prayer to Mary”, Op. 22/5

Death Be Not Proud

Death, be not proud, though some have called thee
Mighty and dreadful, for thou art not so;
For those whom thou think'st thou dost overthrow
Die not, poor death, nor yet canst thou kill me.

From rest and sleep, which but thy pictures be,
Much pleasure; then from thee much more must flow,
And soonest our best men with thee do go,
Rest of their bones, and soul's delivery.

Thou art slave to fate, chance, kings, and desperate men,
And dost with poison, war, and sickness dwell,
And poppy or charms can make us sleep as well
And better than thy stroke; why swell'st thou then?

One short sleep past, we wake eternally,
And death shall be no more, death, thou shalt die.

John Donne

PRAYERS GOING UP FOR OUR AMERICAN HEROES AND FOR OUR BELOVED NATION!

GEN. GEORGE WASHINGTON AND THE MARQUIS DE LAFAYETTE AT VALLEY FORGE

"Let Tyrants Shake Their Iron Rod"
William Billings
(Click)

In the coldest and darkest days of the American Revolution, General George Washington raised his prayers for the survival of his beleaguered Army and of the new Nation. The Lord answered those prayers, upheld his Army through a punishing nadir to everlasting glory and bestowed His manifold benefits upon the new Nation.

In like manner, let our prayers now rise for our heroes in the American military who seek to secure the benefits of Freedom on behalf of a people hungry for them. Father, look on our prayers for them with favor, guide their steps in righteousness and keep them in the shelter of Your Healing Wings. Bless and uphold them in the performance of their Mission. Through Jesus Christ, Your Son, Amen.

SHADOWS AT ARLINGTON

Heavenly Father, Lord of the Nations, unto Your Divine Mercy we commend the souls of these who have fallen in the service of our Beloved Nation and in defense of the freedoms we hold dear. We pray that You gather them in Your loving embrace, that You cause Your countenance to shine upon them and that You vouchsafe their souls to dwell eternally in Your Divine Presence. Through Your Son, Jesus Christ, with the Holy Spirit, one God, forever and ever, Amen.

Good evening, ML...((HUGS))...did you have a dry day? Lessons? You and Linda do something fun?

A Blessed Lord’s Day and Shavua Tov to you and yours.

We had about 15 minutes of sprinkles. I’ve been working on parental needs most of the day. Mostly all little stuff: my Mom’s speakers didn’t work (I think they were just turned off)...I plugged and unplugged, and offed and onned; they work now. My Dad needed help paying a bill online (he’s good for about 5 minutes and then gets really confused. Found their sprinklers in the shed that the snow caved in. Renewed his library books and then signed him up for online service.

One of my biggest struggles is unanswered prayer. Maybe you can relate. You ask God to rescue a friend from addiction, to grant salvation to a loved one, to heal a sick child, to mend a relationship. All these things you think must be God’s will. For years you pray. But you hear nothing back from Him and you see no results.

You remind the Lord that He’s powerful. That your request is a good thing. You plead. You wait. You doubt—maybe He doesn’t hear you, or maybe He isn’t so powerful after all. You quit asking—for days or months. You feel guilty about doubting. You remember that God wants you to take your needs to Him, and you tell Him your requests again.

We may sometimes feel we’re like the persistent widow in Jesus’ parable recorded in Luke 18. She keeps coming to the judge, badgering him and trying to wear him down so he’ll give in. But we know that God is kinder and more powerful than the judge in the parable. We trust Him, for He is good and wise and sovereign. We remember that Jesus said we “always ought to pray and not lose heart” (v.1).

So we ask Him, “Summon Your power, O God; show us Your strength, O God, as You have done before” (Ps. 68:28 NIV). And then we trust Him . . . and wait.

Pray on, then, child of God, pray on;
This is your duty and your task.
To God the answering belongs;
Yours is the simpler part—to ask. —Chisholm
Delay is not denial so keep praying.

Read: Luke 18:1-8

[Jesus] spoke a parable to them, that men always ought to pray and not lose heart. —Luke 18:1
Bible in a Year:
Psalms 49-51

"And why call ye me, Lord, Lord, and do not the things which I say? Whosoever cometh to me, and heareth my sayings, and doeth them, I will shew you to whom he is like: He is like a man which built an house, and digged deep, and laid the foundation on a rock: and when the flood arose, the stream beat vehemently upon that house, and could not shake it: for it was founded upon a rock. But he that heareth, and doeth not, is like a man that without a foundation built an house upon the earth; against which the stream did beat vehemently, and immediately it fell; and the ruin of that house was great." -from THE BIBLE: Luke 6:46-49
