US murder rates in big cities rose in 2011
Press TV ^ | June 14, 2012

Posted on 06/14/2012 12:37:03 PM PDT by SteelToe

New FBI data shows that violent crime rates are improving across America, but among cities with the highest crime problems, murder rates continued to rise in 2011. The FBI finds that violent crime dropped 4% in 2011, compared with a 5.5% drop in 2010.

The 2011 FBI crime data shows that violent crime rose in more than half of the cities that have among the highest rates in the country. In seven of the 10 cities, murder rates increased. In eight of the 10, burglary went up.

Many are cutting police forces through planned layoffs and attrition. More than half of the cities with the highest violent crime rates are cutting law enforcement budgets and police forces as well. However, unlike the national picture, the situation is worse for these cities, which depend on tax bases that are shrinking faster than most.

The cities with the highest crime rates tend to have particularly high poverty rates, high unemployment and low median income. 24/7 Wall St.com

Detroit is fast becoming the justified homicide capitol. That’s a good thing in my opinion.

Crime has risen in places that already have high crime rates.

Otherwise, not so much.

FBI report reveals decrease in violence

“More than half of the cities with the highest violent crime rates are cutting law enforcement budgets and police forces as well.”

###

Teachers and firefighters, among others, “retiring” in their early 50’s with fat lifetime pensions and blue ribbon healthcare benefits, means insufficent law enforcement, and other essential services.

Inner city? Sure. But coming soon to a suburban community near you.

US murder rates in big cities ...
Chocolate cities. Back in the day when ... ... well, it was all whitey's fault.
But "they" told us - when blacks take over as mayors, city councils, boards of education, etc., things were going to change. Chocolate cities.
Well, here we are FORTY+ years later and look at what they did to themselves - and all of America.

I'd forgotten that. You're right, there was a lot of that kind of talk going around.

I thought the same thing.
In the big cities, I’d guess the majority of neither the perps or the victims can legally possess a firearm.

It’s the rest I fear for.

They’re trying the same thing in Seattle. But here in WA, about half the population has a CWP. I work in Australia (where I’m now) and I like showing off my permit. The blokes here just look at it and whistle. I do have my ankle holster here. At least for now nobody says anything and I use it to illustrate how we do things in states where we are allowed to protect ourselves.

Was? Black america has literally destroyed itself and they still refuse to accept responsibility.

The talk back then was that the white mayors etc. didn’t understand the black ‘community’ (automatic gag reflex at the word) and that only black mayors etc. could improve on the conditions.

That kind of talk isn’t heard anymore, but it would be important to recall such on a national level.

‘Course that was before all the R presidents.

Awesome. You are planting a seed. May it grow.

I wonder how things like CCW and Stand Your Ground might be helping to confine violent crime to certain areas in major urban centers.

I carry my cell phone in it. Here in Australia you can be indicted for injuring someone who breaks into your house. I tell these people here that we at home can simply blow them away, no questions asked. They think it horrible. I just smile at them.
