Romney Sides with Rubio on Obama’s Immigration Action
National Review Online - The Corner ^ | June 15, 2012 | Katrina Trinko

Posted on 06/15/2012 1:52:16 PM PDT by C19fan

Mitt Romney criticized President Obama’s decision to give legal status to young adult illegal immigrants today, saying that the executive action had made it “more difficult” to bring about a “long-term solution.”

........................................................

UPDATE: It’s worth noting that, according to a couple of reporters, Romney was asked if he would reverse Obama’s order if he was elected — and didn’t respond.

>> Willard = gutless.

Not disputing that, but the fact is 60% of the Republicans in Congress are thrilled that Obama took the pressure off of them and implemented by fiat what they all wanted to do themselves anyway (but feared the political repercussions).

Collectively, the entire party is a feckless bunch of self serving cowards.

I will have to vote Third Party Conservative if Romney is not going to commit to National Security, Defending our Borders, and Deporting Illegal Aliens

Our national security begins at the border

I have never seen such weak wussified politicians in this nation’s history

It was Republicans in Congress that blocked the Dream act Amnesty for illegals, the same Dream act Amnesty your dictator Obama just passed by decree. Obama just gave amnesty to illegals, bypassed congress, committed treason and a crime against America and Americans and all you can do is blame Republicans? Last I looked it was this cretin Obama who just gave Amnesty to illegals not Republicans. All we did to stop this dream act for nothing. It just passed it.

It’s amazing to me how many people have bought into the fantasy that Romney will govern from the right. Hell he will not even govern from the middle. He is a sleazy character with no real definable principles. He has no clear vision.

Hardly a surprise. I can’t think of a single issue I actually “trust” Romney on... amnesty, health-care, gay-marriage, spending, 2nd-Amendment, whatever.

The thought of Romney being our nominee still boggles my mind. Watching this election is like watching from afar a Democratic primary between a crazed Marxist and a big-government liberal-progressive. It’s impossible for me to feel remotely invested in the whole mess.

Romney played it smart.

The important thing for Romney is to keep the focus on the economy.

This was another feint by Obama to change the debate from the economy to immigration.

Obama would love for Romney to get down in the mud on the immigration/illegal alien issue so he doesn’t have to take a beating every day on the economy and unemployment.

Mitt also has a tightrope to walk to avoid losing anymore of the Hispanic vote.

Notice that he did not say he approved of Obama’s action and he did say that this is not the right way to go about solving the issue.

Stay on message and keep Obama on the defense over the economy.

Democrats and Obama tried to pass this Dream act Amnesty in Congress. But Republicans in congress blocked it. Today Obama just passed this Dream act Amnesty by decree. Obama just gave Amnesty to illegals and bypassed Congress. This is the worst day ever.

Is this what Romney is siding with?

Rubio's plan or at least one he is talking up with NBC to be broadcast on the "Sunday Morning" show.

Marco Rubio talks immigration, Dream Act, amnesty

snip
Of his proposal Rubio said, "I think I've found significant support for it, both in my own party and hopefully with some Democrats, that allows us to address the issue of these kids in a humanitarian way, that allows us to recognize that what we want to do is give these kids a chance to get right what their parents got wrong, but not do it in a way that incentivizes people to do this in the future, and doesn't undermine our legacy as a nation of laws."

"Will your plan give amnesty?" asked O'Donnell.

"No, it's not an amnesty plan," Rubio replied. "The plan basically would award the kids who meet a certain criteria - they got here by a certain age, have lived here, graduated from high school, don't have a criminal record, want to go to college - they get what, in essence, is a student visa, and thereafter, a work visa.

"And after some period of time, probably 10 years, we would then allow them to access the immigration system just like any non-immigrant visa holder in the United States would. ... So they'd be no worse off than anybody else, but no better off, either. No special path. Just the same path as everyone else."

end snip

Withall due respect for Mr. Romney, this came at him pretty quick and he hasn’t had sufficient time to go to Rove and other GOP-E members to find out where he stands for now.
